    Burger and onion strings
    Laurie O.

Recommended to try this newly opened restaurant on the west side. Our lunch for 3 was $65 before tip, pricey. I had the meatloaf which was overly peppered, as were the mashed potatoes and veggies. The gravy, gross. My friend and his daughter had burgers, tasty. They opted for onion strings versus potato chips (chose at last minute when other patrons chips were being served overly fried). Too much breading, where's the onion? Bread pudding bland and dry, portion size small for the price. Service slow. Staff nice. Facility, if I'm not mistaken, used to be a garage, therefore a cold ambience. Will I return? No.

I enjoyed the food, it was pretty good and it was quick too. The restaurant was clean. Overall I enjoyed the experience.

Original. Authentic. Flavorful. Affordable. Large portions. Filling. This place was spectacular on every level!

Original. Authentic. Flavorful. Affordable. Large portions. Filling. This place was spectacular on every level! Authentic southwestern food. I haven't had an authentic tamale for years. The waitress was so personable and calm. Biscuits and sausage gravy. Top of the line bacon and one of the most flavorful breakfast sandwich I've ever had. We got a side of bacon to start off, two coffees and water. We also ordered three entries- the tamales too (10/10), the fire starter (10/10) and a full sized biscuits and gravy (10/10). All for $31.00. Just wow. We got way more than we needed, and obviously have leftovers. The place wasn't too full, they've only been open a year. Originally named "Soul Sisters Fusion," I'm sure they realized that it was quite a misleading title. They have a brunch buffet on Sundays too, but it didn't start until 10. We will 100% be going back to this great new restaurant on Douglas and Meridian. I know this is not a popular area for most I know, but personally I am very familiar with the area since my mom worked at a take out place right around the corner when I was young. The atmosphere and clientele are definitely indicative of the Wichita I grew up in. LOVE. UPDATE- from 5 stars to 2. so I've returned about 3-4 times and each visit was progressively worse. The gravy tasted like it was made with a dry packet and dirty water. The buffet is the only option on Sundays and it's just not worth it for the quality of food. Won't ever go bac

Sometimes they're a little behind in the kitchen so ya gotta wait, but it's totally worth it.

I had the Chilaquiles with 2 over-easy eggs and added chicken. Very crispy! And delicious! The three of us shared an appetizer of fried mac & cheese. One lunch-mate had the 1812 Douglas Tacos. She said it was a very good portion size, not too big. The other lunch-mate had a very nice salad and a bowl of soup too. Good service. Great time.

This restaurant was such a great experience. Service was top notch- so friendly. My husband and I started out with their cheesy corn dip- it was fantastic. What really set the appetizer over the top was the homemade tortilla chips. I had the Pollo Benedicto. The chili verde cream sauce was so good on top of the eggs, shredded chicken, and jalapeño corn bread. Make sure you try their blueberry iced tea- it's so so good!! I'm excited to return and try more of their dishes!

Biscuits & gravy with a side of Applewood bacon. The sausage was homemade and really very tasty.

I saw a couple friends post on Facebook about eating here, it's close by, so decided to try it. Vickie was my server, friendly, and thought about what I needed before I asked! That is becoming a rare thing. I had biscuits with sausage gravy (pepper was added by me) and a side of bacon and an Iced Tea. The side comes with three slices, but only two were done with my meal, so Vickie told me about it and brought the third slice before I even started on the bacon. The sausage gravy was amazingly tasty, with fresh sausage made in house. Really kicked the flavor up considerably. The bacon wasn't crispy, so I didn't think I would like it. Well, I was wrong. It's applewood smoked bacon cooked perfectly. I didn't notice fatty bits like you get on most bacon. The consistency was good chewing, kind of like a tender, easy to eat jerky. Very flavorful and yummy. The desserts were bread pudding or Key-lime pie. Neither are things I would choose to eat. So perhaps one piece of advice is to have one more standard type of dessert, and one that would appeal to those with a favorite specialty. For a standard dessert something like a good gooey cinnamon roll, creme brûlée (I wish), cheese cake plain or with fruit, caramel or chocolate to fancy it up a bit, or tiramisu. Then join that with a specialty of the day. I wanted to try the biscuit minus gravy, so opted for a biscuit with butter and honey. The biscuit was good, as it should be in a Southern inspired establishment. Vickie finished me off with an Iced Tea to go. I am torn between 4 and 5 stars only because of the lack of dessert options including anything I like. Another tip, you may consider adding some character to the dining room with art, perhaps offer to show the work of local artists, or antiques on the walls. That would make it more of an event for your patrons. I would give it 4.5 for truly excellent service and deliciousness of the food. Good job Soul Sisters!

Service and food are amazing. Cool atmosphere in an older building and locally owned. Our server was Emily, she was a sweetheart and very informative on local happenings. My family will certainly be back!

Outstanding. The cornfusion dip, the meatloaf, blueberry key lime waffle, and biscuits and gravy all exceeded expectations. Excellent service!

This place was very disappointing. All the food on the buffet tasted like it came from the freezer.

I've gotta say, I was never disappointed by Stroud's at all as it was easily the best restaurant I've been to in such a long time, as I've had so many fond memories going there such as going out to look at the pond, looking at the cat house and inside the restaurant never disappoints, their service is always good as they were always happy to see me willing to take my order of a chicken fried steak and the waiters and waitresses were so friendly. My favourite parts of Stroud's are their onion rings and chicken fried steak as their breading is made with actual flour. Their service never disappoints either as they always love seeing me come in and have their food. Plus it was one of the restaurants I always go back to time and time again, I kid you not and will always remain in my heart since I've grew older. Thank you, Stroud's, for making my part of my life a memorable experience. Rest In Peace Stroud's June 30th 1993 - May 14th 2025

After spending the day…read moreexploring Tanganyika Wildlife Park, we wanted a relaxing dinner within walking distance of our hotel, and this locally owned restaurant was exactly what we were hoping to find. The first surprise was the size of the restaurant. From the street, it looks fairly modest, but once inside, it opens into a beautiful historic warehouse with exposed brick, an industrial feel, and a lively atmosphere. I also loved discovering the large outdoor patio tucked away behind the building--it would be a fantastic place to enjoy live music on a future visit. We ordered the baby back ribs, which had just been introduced to the menu that evening, and they were incredible. The meat was tender enough to fall right off the bone, the baked beans had just the right amount of spice, and the fries rounded out a great comfort meal. I also enjoyed trying a local cider on tap, and we couldn't resist finishing with the Key Lime Pie Crème Brûlée, which was absolutely delicious. What really stood out was how relaxed the experience felt. Even though the restaurant was busy, we never felt rushed. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it was the perfect place to unwind after a full day of adventure. If you're visiting Wichita, especially if you're staying in Historic Old Town, I highly recommend adding Public at the Brickyard to your itinerary. Great food, genuine hospitality, and a wonderful example of supporting local Kansas producers make this a restaurant I'll gladly return to on my next visit.
