I know you should not expect so much from a dive bar so I am not but I am definitely NOT coming back. The minute we walked in, we got stares from people that it was kinda rude already. It made me feel like we were not welcome there, either that or they were just admiring my boots! :P $12 for a Miller and a Margarita. My Margarita was OK. I could have ordered for another one but we had to chug our drinks fast and leave because the whole place stinks of what seemed to be some left over food. Seriously, I can still smell it even after minutes of getting out of the place. I was looking for somewhere low-key to have a beer with a friend, but the music was so loud, it hurt my ears, from the parking lot. We did go inside, and showed our IDs to the bouncer, but there really wasn't anywhere to sit. there were maybe a dozen people there, various races, all men, and not particularly friendly looking. there was a small bench against a wall, but the environment was not conducive to a conversation. they do have a pool table. read more

My 100th review. I'm so proud! My experiences with dive bars is practically nil, so forgive my lack of reference point. Let's go through my dive bar checklist, shall we? 1. Out of the way location. Check! 2. Located in a rundown strip mall. Check! 3. Disreputable characters loitering in the parking lot. Check! 4. Pool table. Check! 5. Jukebox. Check! 6. Pregnant (I think) and young bartendress. Check! 7. Surprisingly clean bathroom. Happily-Check! 8. Belvedere on the shelf. CHECK!! 9. Strong pour. DOUBLE CHECK!!! I didn't have a clue on costs because my drink was paid for, but I'm assuming it was very reasonable. I would definitely pay a return visit, but I wouldn't go alone, fo' sho'. read more

I assume everyone there knows your name, or if they don't, YOU will definitely know a few by the end of the night. Demographic was very mixed. All ages & nationalities. Came here on a recommendation from the bartender at Dave & Buster's when they gave up their liquor license for 10 days due some court case. The place was pretty empty on a Wednesday evening but there was plenty of seating. We all had a few drinks away from the bar , just catching up on lives and so forth. This review is best prefaced with a fact that inoculates a particular bias into my subjections. If presented with an Alcoholic's Sophie's choice regarding a decision between one establishment to patron and one to demolish; I will always favor the glorious dive bar! I will gladly pass-by the night club and sidestep the trendy sports bar/ lounge to rest my ass on a, slightly wobbly - always rickety, dive bar stool. Beit a path less taken, beit overgrown with shrubbery and and obstacles, any path is worth transversing if the right Dive lie at it's end. The unfortunate truth of it all, the American Dive Bar is becoming a fleeting memory only preserved in the nostalgic ramblings of your local drunkard. That said, the modern day heroes at the "G Spot," formally identified as Galaxy, are doing their part to drum beats into an otherwise failing heart. I strongly recommend this location to any and all millennial, ETOH enthusiasts. I do so not because you'll find other like minded, age appropriate connections. I do so to help you catch a glimpse of true Americana before it evaporates into the cages of Google images and Wikipedia. I think the young drinker would be doing themselves a great disservice, if their only experience with a dive bar is watching Gremlin's trash one (seeing they are able to sit through a low-tech 80's film) or Netflix & Chilling to re-runs of Sam Malone and Diane What's-Her-Face. I have faith that our youth will venture, for at least a peak, the way one goes out of ones way to behold the threatened panda bear at the zoo. As with all endangered species, America's Dive Bar's are frantically attempting to adapt. They appear to be flaring about in a desperate grab at any alternative options like a Gazel deying it's mortality even while ensnared in the lion's jaw. G Spot is no different. While the beloved traditions of the dive flourish during the weekdays, the same cannot be said of weekendd. Although I sympathize with the drive to succeed, I strongly doubt hiring an octogenarian-DJ is the wisest move. In addition, said Jocky need not crank the outpouring audio to a decibel that surpasses the conversations between customers. Truth be told, I pray that this hidden gem turns from the path taken by so many dives that came (and went) before them. My prayers ask that the brave soldiers at the G Spot embrace who they are. My prayers beg that if changes there must be; those changes only serve to exacerbate the essence and culture of a Dive Bar. Perhaps they can toss broken, used peanut shells on the floor as part of nightly decorating. Maybe they can offer a drink special: One Tall Can Wrapped Snug in A Brown Bag and One Pickled Egg. The ideas are boundless. Although the suggestions may appear kitsch, they are dramatically less so than dancehall / night club transformations. There is nothing unique about my suggested model. It's born from the sage wisdom of early 90's hip-hop: "Shake what ya' mama gave ya'" This bold approach will surely entice a younger crowd, while keeping your regulars. What getts millennials off faster than authenticity? Nothing, that's what. From Craft-Micro Breweries to Farm-to-Table dining, the more authentic the better. One could proudly serve hot plates of bovine droppings if the the restaurant captured the right vibe. Dive Bar's need not strive to such extremes. As long as the G Spot builds upon it's true, natural, and original charisma; we might find ourselves standing on the precipice of a drinker's Renaissance! However, if they continue to kick proverbial rocks down a heavily trafficed and tragic road in an effort to become something they are not, my next article will most assuredly be it's eulogy. read more

This is the dump of all dive bars. Please stay away from this place if you value your health. From poor job of washing the glasses to bartenders not washing thier hands when they really need too. The mens bathroom stunk real bad, the bartop was sticky, and your feet would almost stick to the carpet when you tried to walk around or out of the place. They have cheap drinks, could be even cheaper from what I see around town at other dive bars. And to my amazement, the darn female owner got up ontop of the bar with a skirt on and started to dance seductively. That was too disgusting to look at. Not sure what the smell is in the bar. Might be the bartender or maybe a couple patrons need to take a shower. Overall all I would have to give this place a 1.5 rating, needs alot of work here. P.S. This is my third time trying to post here. The owners keep taking it down to protect thier divehole.. Should spend more effort to cleanup the place. read more

Oh yes, I'm mos'def a fan of anywhere random people will buy you drinks just for sitting next to them. It probably helps that I have boobs, but hey - free drinks, are free drinks.... and I think all parties involved knew that our pleasantries would only extend to the point of a high 5. Possibly. I haven't been feeling very Yelpy lately. Don't know why, just haven't been feeling the computer and Yelp's seductive urge too much as of late.... But a festive little trip to this place put me in the mood... Yep yep this little dive is a gem. Perhaps it was the gin I sipped. I'm not a huge gin drinker. Nope. I'll drink it but when I do I enjoy it. And take damn near forever to finish it. I know it's annoying to some but me and gin take a very kind, cautious and appreciative approach to our relationship. It's how we are. And it let's me be observant for to stuff to write about. There is definatly a sense of community in this place. Everyone seems to know everyone and they're cool with new faces too. They've packed as much as they could into a small space--pool table, darts, one of those jukeboxes that you can find almost anything under the sun on. Don't you hate it when the search engine comes up empty...it's like "no damn it! I know this song exists! I'm sure of it! Watch I'll sing it to you now! La la la la la! Now you sing it back to me the way I want you to!" Speaking of singing, a couple of nights a week they do kareoke. After a few beers, I do kareoke. I've gotten over my dislike of kareoke I've carried for the last few years (long story short: coworker helped run a kareoke company as a 2nd job, she practiced A LOT at her 1st job=one pissy little V). I won't reveal what horrifying selections were chosen but damn you alcohol and damn both of the guilty parties involved!!! As far as the alcohol selections go I gotta be honest, they don't have much in terms of beer on tap (3 taps and one is Budwiser?!? Raise your hand I'm confused) and not a huge list of options for bottle. In fact judging by the amount of Budwiser advertisement posters and that oh yeah there was a keg of it in the bathroom (?!?) they sell a lot of it. They do carry a healthy liquor selection though. As far as wee li'l dives go, this one is jam-packed with character. I'd always drive by this place and never gave it much thought, but after one fateful night in late '07, I'd find myself gravitating back to th' Galaxy more often during nights entirely devoted to hoppin' bars before things begin to blur. I've yet to encounter an unfriendly crowd here. They have karaoke going on most nights and once in awhile you might luck upon a themed bachelorette party that would look totally out of place most anywhere else BUT here. read more

Galaxy definitely has their usuals and they were all a little out there but really friendly. They have specials for drinks that are pretty cheap. My friends had a decent time here. One of the best bars in Milpitas! The drinks are cheap and the people are not scary. The regulars at this bar are all extremely friendly and welcoming. They don't give you nasty glances like some of the other sketchy people who hang out in dive bars. It is a cool place to come chill with a few friends, and maybe shoot some pool. I tend to avoid this place on karaoke nights because the place is small and wreaks havoc on my delicate eardrums. read more

This place wasn't so bad, but I'm not "planning" a return visit. Which might even be true of all dive bars, you kinda end up there-its not the destination of the night. They have a pool table-$1.00. You step outside and smoke and come right back in without being carded excessively. The bartender was an attractive who leaned in at just right angle to maintain the attention of my guy friend. They had three TVs. My boyfriend called it a "biker bar" but there were only a couple biker types outside and mostly college-age couples dancing to the outrageously deafening music. There was a very enthusiastic DJ playing the kind of music that I would expect in a dance club. We went on a Saturday a little after midnight-so maybe it was a special dance night....? If it had been quieter, we would have stayed for more than one game of pool. read more

I came here to have a couple drinks and play darts. I ended getting a free Jameson shot and met a couple of awesome bartender. I think it was Alycia and her cousin is also a bartender there who dropped in to drink that night. Funny thing, she got me to take the shot and she took off not taking hers. This is the place to go on a thursday night. Its a little dive bar in the corner on main st. Lots of locals that love to have fun. Whats also great is that they have kareoke!!! who doesn't love that.
