Celebrated my brother in law's birthday at the wine room on Thursday evening. The discounted wine list was great. The meal overall was mediocre. The crab cake appetizers were burnt and dry. The small Ceasars salads were not dressed. The black and Bleu pasta was overwhelming with Bleu cheese and the beef tips were tough and chewy. The mussels were Devine and the cheesecake was fine. The side of mashed potatoes were served without butter and were gummy. The pacing of the meal was terrible. We felt sorry for the server as she was not responsible for the poorly prepared food. My girlfriend and I were passing through and staying at the comfort inn next door. We looked out our window and saw the place and decided to eat there. We sat on the patio with some good live music and were both pleasantly surprised to see a long beer list of reasonably local beers. After a long drive this was a reasonably good meal and beer. We didn't have to wait long for any of our food, as it wasn't very crowded. The only downside was some cigarette smoke, but I'm not sure what more to expect when seated outside. read more

The average low rating does not compute for the area. The Wadsworth area is a food desert, options are fast food and low to medium end chain restaurants. The Galaxy does a good job at standing out from its competition in an area that desperately needs better options and a few higher-end choices. This was our first time in. We ate out on the patio. It was well staffed and alive with the hustle and bustle of an organized restaurant. Our sever tended to our drinks promptly and had our happy hour meal specials in shortly thereafter. She was prompt, friendly, and professional. It seems so basic but I found it reassuring given some of the bad reviews. Our small order of wings did take awhile to come out but our waitress kept us well informed along the way. When they did come out they had been done up well. No complaints, just few good wings. The side salad was good. Consisting of the basics. Everything seemed fresh but it did have a mass produced appearance. In other words it was clear a line cook slapped it together not a dedicated chef. The same theme finds its way into the rest of the meal. My hamburger was cooked perfectly at medium rare. While our gusts was well done to his liking. The bun was perky and held together well. Overall it was a good meal but something seemed to be missing. That little something that takes a place from good to great. But in all honesty I am so thrilled to have at least one restaurant we can go to have a decent meal and relax while being waited on. read more

Haven't yet stopped in for regular dinner but got a chance to try the Mother's Day grand feast buffet this year for the first time and our whole party was very impressed! We were seated in the wine room, which was comfortable and far less busy/loud than their banquet room, which was just a short walk to the buffet spread. They had twice the amount of options of any other holiday buffet I've been to and they were very on top of keeping it all filled and hot! There was more than enough options for every type of eater. The quality of the food was also fantastic for it being a larger crowd buffet. The dessert table was beyond plentiful with every type of dessert you could think of! The staff was friendly and handled the crowds well- we will definitely be coming here for future holiday buffets. read more

Treated my wife to dinner on Valentines Day in the Wine Room at the Galaxy restaurant in Wadsworth. Not near up to their standards. The room was not crowded. Our server was nice enough, but not very attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine and had to pour it ourselves for the entire meal. My wife had a fish special, which she liked except it was to be over a bed of wilted spinach, of which there was none on her plate. I ordered surf and turf. The filet was cooked correctly but very tough and full of gristle. I had to ask for a steak knife. The lobster tail was lukewarm at best, and no drawn butter. I should have just sent the entire meal back, but then my wife would have finished hers and we would have been eating separately. First, I must say this review is based on roughly two dozens-plus visits over a period of, hmmm, maybe five years. This is not a "one shot" evaluation but rather a summary of our experiences over the last three-four months or so. This review is further limited to include our dining in the "wine bar," where we eat about 90% of the time. Overall, we have found the food to be inconsistent and the service to be highly variable. We have frequently left saying "well, no reason to go back THERE!" But, we DO go back, although not so often any more. Why do we return? Well, restaurants (I am not talking about fast food, or "chain" crap) are not exactly in a competitive environment in this area. Not much tso choose from. The "old" Chef, Angus O'Hara has recently been replaced by a new fellow. We had hoped the change would be good. Based on tonight's experience, not exactly so. Anyway, here's my rating, again based on the last several visits: Service: 1-4 (Depends on the night and where you sit; the bus help is better than the bar-tender, for example) Quality of food: 1-3 (Always a surprise!) Quantity of food: 3.5 (it's fine; no need to be a pig) Value: 1.5-4 (Depends on what you get and how it is prepared -- one never knows! It's only expensive if the quality is not good!) Creativity: 3 Atmosphere: 4 (Maybe a bit better?) Will we return? Well, not any time soon. My feeling is a rating of a "2" really means exactly what Yelp says: "Meh. I've experienced better" -- exactly as suggested. So, a rating of "2" is appropriate. A "3" would suggest we'll be back. We won't -- at least not right away. Final note: Thursdays are "retail wine night." If one is so inclined, one can obtain a really good/delicious (or, maybe not so good -- your choice) bottle of wine for a VERY fair price this one day each week. So, if you feel a need to try this place, and you like wine -- maybe go on Thursdays? 'Really final note": As I finish my review I note the review written by "Jerry B." on the page's side bar. Brunch Sunday was absolutely delicious!!! There is zero complaints to be had! Just remember you are going for a traditional Sunday brunch, which means this is not a quick in-and-out place, it is somewhere to go when you want to actually put down the rest of the world and socialize and talk and slow down and enjoy! I really wanted to give them 4.5 starts but a couple things happened that kept me from doing that. I extremely enjoyed my experience here. So let's break it down. First, the service was very slow and our waitress was not very interested in our table or thorough. We had to ask for drinks and apps. The atmosphere is really nice and it has beautiful decor. To start we had the calamari app which was really wonderful. It was cooked and breaded perfectly and the tai chili sauce that was on the plate was a perfect accompiament. We also tried the crab cake, and it was probably the best crab cake I have ever had. Nice and crusty on the outside and perfectly creamy with a ton of crab on the inside. It was served with some kind of cucumber salad that was really tasty as well. I had a special and it was papadell noodles with an alfrado sauce and it had crab in the sauce and they also included a round fried crab cake goodness. The sauce was super decadent and creamy and it was just wonderful. I also tried another special of the firecracker pork chop and it was the best pork chop I have ever had. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It was served with a side of corn chowderish thing that I thought was fantastic. It paired great with the pork chop and that dish was just genius. I also tried another special and it was jut a couple shrimp and a scallop in a sauce that I could drink out of my shoe. It was phenomenal and if they doubled that and put it over pasta I might fall out of my chair. We also had some salads and tried the house dressing and it was a peppercorn ranch of some kind and it was wonderful. I wish I could make it, and I may even try. Now the problem, I was able to try the lobster bisque and it was disappointing. It had almost no lobster and it wasn't creamy. So between that and the service I just couldn't give it a higher rating although I really enjoyed most of the food. It had been awhile since I had been there so I suggested stopping there this past Thursday for dinner with a friend. I had not had anything bad in the past and our church has had a few functions in their party center. My friend and I ordered the same sandwich, Philly Cheese Steak ($16) I added mushrooms ($1), which I found one shroom on the whole sandwich. My sandwich was dry, considering it was supposed ti be prime rib, I thought it should be juicy,and it did have veggies on it but nope! I didn't complain which I should have said something early on. My friend only ate a bite out of hers when she said this is SO dry and we waited on the server and asked for some A1. I ate mine as it was, yeah I know my fault, but again I hate to complain. She ate 3 more bites of hers with A1 and took the balance home and said her son would eat it. The server didn't do anything but say she was sorry that it was dry, again, I ate mine, hunger does funny things to ya. Moral to story, if ya don't like it say something. But after you do and don't get satisfaction don't go back! Sorry Galaxy, we won't be back. Shame too as I recall your Burgers are great! read more

My wife and I stopped here after an afternoon at the Lorain County Fair. We sat in the sports bar section. At 5:00 on a Saturday we sat down in a mostly-empty room. We split a full order of BBQ ribs which were really good. The meat came off the bones cleanly and was very tender and tasty. The sauce had a slightly smoky taste. We added slaw, mashed potatoes, a side salad, and a cup of lobster bisque ( Saturday's soup of the day). My wife liked her slaw though I thought the salad was a bit skimpy and the ranch dressing seemed watered down. The potatoes were good though a bit thin (whipped) for my taste. We finished with some cheesecake topped with raspberry sauce and a piece of carrot cake. The carrot cake was okay but the cheesecake was wonderful. I'll add that the iced tea was pretty tasty too--not so light as some places like to make it. Overall, we were satisfied with the food but there's nothing from this meal to draw us back. Maybe it's because we were both in the mood for steak when we came in (steak choices here are limited) but maybe it's because the food is just "okay". read more

We came here on a Monday evening and it wasn't busy at all. There were a decent number of customers, but nowhere near a crowd. We were seated promptly by the hostess, but then we sat for 20 minutes without one person greeting us or making any effort to take our order. There were a number of wait staff who walked by us numerous times and they acted like we didn't exist. We realize that several businesses are currently short-staffed, but this wasn't the case for this night. There were a good number of servers and other workers in the restaurant. Finally we had a server come towards our table and we tried to wave her down, but apparently she thought we were just saying hi because she said hi to us and proceeded to walk on by our table. We got up and left because it seemed that none of the workers even cared about us being there. We attempted to get someone to grab a manager for us on the way out, but the hostess had disappeared. We went to The Galaxy restaurant for a wedding. It was AMAZING !!!!!!! The wedding was so beautiful and the dinner was some of the best food I have ever eaten. My husband got the filet mignon and I got the caribbean pork and it was melt in your mouth delicious. As were the cocktails. read more

I've been here a handful of times as I travel this area for work and generally stay at one of the hotels near the Galaxy. The service here is always great - bartenders, waiters, etc. all helpful and friendly. The food is just mediocre though. The food in the bar area is typical frozen and heat type bar food, and decently priced. The steakhouse is way overpriced (thank god for my corporate card!) and frankly the food is just not that great. Just had a steak dinner there tonight and my steak was bordering on well even though I ordered it medium. The mushrooms in wine sauce tasted like mushrooms in water - no flavor. Disappointing for sure. I will say that I love the seasoning on the steaks but it's very strong and I can understand why others wouldn't like it. read more

I have been near Wadsworth twice in the past year. I have visited Galaxy both times. The definition of service is low. It has what appears to be a large dining room. In reality it doesn't seat very many people. Both times I waited for over an hour for my meal. Food was nothing special and ridiculously overpriced. Today was especially drastic in low service. There were 12 people in the restaurant and the waitress kept telling us our food would be out in 1 minute. 1hr and 15 minutes from time of order. It took another 25 minutes to get our check. "Short staffed". Maybe you should tell us this before embarrassing yourselves with crummy service and overpriced food. $75 for 2 kids hamburgers, patty melt and italian sub. Do us all a favor and shut the doors already. read more

Great for brunch - very friendly staff and manager went out of their way to make us welcome and plan a future visit for handicapped family member. Beautiful decor and lots to choose from on 5 different stations. Kids will be happy to find chicken fingers on the buffet too. Let me start out by saying my experience here has mostly been take-out for lunch and not dining in the restaurant. I'm not sure if that matters, or if the food really loses its freshness and flavor in the 5 minutes it takes me to drive back to work with it. This place tries really hard to look all upscale, from the bar, to the "market", to the banquet rooms. Honestly, it does look really nice inside, but the food and service is a different story. I often used to pick up lunch for clients at work here. Personally, I never really liked much of anything on the menu. The only thing I liked is the Reuben, but it is so salty you feel like you can't breathe after you eat it and I usually ended up drinking about 4 bottles of water in the afternoon to quench my thirst. Most things are either very greasy or salty, (in fact, we have had meals literally SWIMMING in grease) or they are extremely bland. They do have daily specials that change every day, and it is very hit or miss - sometimes you end up with something not so bad. Some of the clients really love it here though, it seems like any of the fish dishes or salads are a favorite with them. And since I really don't like fish or salads, maybe that's why I can't wrap my mind around it. The service, at least for takeout, is consistently terrible. They would usually tell me a pickup time, and I would often wait 10-20 minutes after they said it would be ready. The orders have had many problems with them as well, from missing sides, to wrong sides, to missing meat in the salads, to wrong dishes completely. So, like I said, don't let your eyes fool you. Some people love it here, but I think there are much better choices nearby. read more

I'm going to give this a two star even though it's more of a one star. The main place that seems to be reviewed (and open most often) is the sports bar which is a downright one star in my book. I get sick every time I eat here. Everything is so incredibly greasy - and when I tried a salad it just was bland and the tomatoes weren't fresh or anything. I have tried a large array of things here, from appetizers to sandwiches, and I just can't eat anything that I like. The ceiling is kind of cool, but it is always so COLD in this place. I have to wear my winter coat when it's winter, and in the summer, well, in the summer it's just unbearable. I can't complain about service. We are usually the only people in here when we go. It is nearby family, so we end up here a lot. Now, they get an extra star from me for what I assume is their cafe food. I had a wedding shower here, and the soup they had there (never on the sports bar menu, PS, I checked) was delicious, the salad was fresh, and thats all I ate. It was like it was catered from a different restaurant of something. They took the food away too soon though :( Anyhow, I just kind of groan about this place. We had lunch here today and it was very good. I had the Bonzi sandwich which was ahi tuna on a sweet bun. For my ice side I had spicy cauliflower. I was very surprised how tasty and creamy this side was. I will be defiantly getting it again. The only thing that could Critique would be my sons chicken strips were a little bready . So, I haven't been to the sports bar in awhile so I can't comment to much. Except for the fact that the food is way over priced. The food is...ok. Things are generally cooked correctly, but they leave a lot of room for improvement for the price. Some of the servers and bartenders have been here for ages, and they are all great! I recently contacted the Banquet center about throwing a catered 50th birthday party in February. I just started off by asking them what their options would be for a party of 25-30. They e-mailed me a "banquet menu" where prices started at $30+ per person for a buffet style dining. While I waited for more details from The Galaxy I went ahead and got price quotes from Bravo in Fairlawn and Cafe Bricco at The DoubleTree hotel in Fairlawn. Both places quoted me far more food, for around $20-$22 per person. I've eaten at all 3 of these places, and I've been far more impressed with Bravo and Bricco's food! They are all close in price in their general menus, but The Galaxy's food doesn't even compare. So, when I called around and I found out that Bravo and Bricco were willing to give me better quality and more variety for less money I went back to The Galaxy to see what we could work out. I wrote them an e-mail that basically explained I had received quotes from other places which were offering me more food for less money. In addition, Bricco has offered to let me choose the color of my linens, center pieces and they even waived the $50 room fee. I asked them if we could work on a menu for my guests that would stay around my $20-$25 per person budget. I even offered to look at options from the less expensive sports bar menu. I went on to explain that the location of the restaurant is really ideal since I have family traveling from north and south. Even some coming from out of state, so how convenient is it that there are 2 hotels next to the restaurant. The response I got: "I spoke with David in regards to offering a dinner for around the $20 price and unfortunately we are unable to match that price at this time." Really?! I didn't ask for them to give me the $30 buffet for $20, I asked what they would be willing to offer for $20. Needless to say, I won't be having my birthday party at the Galaxy, or any party for that matter. Their lack of flexibility and customer service is appalling. It's unfortunate that in today's economy where any business is struggling to stay a float, coupled with the struggles of keeping any restaurant alive, they would not consider a more affordable option. I have taken my $700 dinner budget to cafe Bricco, and they have been a gem! Look for that review after the party! read more

It took me over a week of staring at this restaurant to actually try it. The reviews didn't seem great so I was weary. The space is very cool. It's a bit confusing to figure out which part of the complex you'll be sitting in. They led me to be wine bar area and I'm not versed in interior design but it is warm, inviting, and comfortable. The service was amazing. I've been to fancier restaurants that would kill for the servers employed here. In a few words: gracious, attentive, friendly (not fake), and genuinely want to ensure your satisfaction. It is half-priced glasses of wine so I had double to make up for it. The wine list is long enough to make a tasty decision but short enough as not be pretentious. I had a great Malbec or 4 and my mood was elevated by a factor of 3 with each successive glass. I ate light opting for a creamy potato/sausage soup. It was seasoned well, served at a good temperature. I am a whore for good soup. This for the bill. I figured I better offset the creamy soup with a spinach and berry salad that complemented the soup perfectly. I never felt rushed or that I was a burden by lingering with another glass of wine. Give this place a shot. I had a great experience and will definitely return. read more

We went here using a Groupon yesterday with the kids and grandma. I was amazed at how large of a restaurant this was - basically four in one with a dining room, wine room, patio and another room. We sat on the patio since it was a nice day which was very nice with canopied bars stations and little waterfall. They had a steak menu and then a menu with burgers, pastas, etc. The artichoke-spinach dip was great! We mostly all got burgers which were all very good as well. We come here every year near Christmas for the Sunday brunch buffet...and every year it slips further down in quality and variety. Overpriced for the offering and it is always a disaster trying to get the check since we have a large group. I've been in about 4 times, and the service has always been exceptional as well. We don't frequent here, however, because the prices are quite high for the quality/amount of food you get. Since we had never been here before when I pulled into Galaxy's parking lot I decided to do a quick check on Yelp and saw the reviews were not great but we figured - we're here, how bad can it be? I've driven past this place for years and years and have never stopped in, this time I should have kept driving past! I really should have saved my $107 for 5 and picked up takeout from Wendy's... the food and service would ahve been SO MUCH BETTER! We arrived at 7:15 and by 7:20 we ordered 5 beers and 5 sandwiches, beers came in 10mins, but our food arrived @8:10 (50min later - c'mon almost an hour??!!). There were 2 other tables of 6 folks each and a table of 2, our food arrived after the one table of 6 that sat down 10min beind us. Philly steak sandwiches were good. The Galaxy burgers were a small and frozen and the chips that came with the $11 burger was right out of a Lays chip bag. The 'special' of the month burger was the $12.95 St. Patty Melt, which came with a small frozen patty and 2 little pieces of grissled corn beef and less than a tablespoon of kraut (had to ask for the dressing that was supposed to come with it) and paid an extra $3.50 for a baked potato. The chicken fingers were mostly breading and very little chicken, worse than KFC. I had a flight of 3 beers and asked specifically if she could bring out the Nitro Irish Stoudt before it settles and goes flat, she said "sure!"... it arrived flat, and I asked her about it - she said "oh, sorry" and walked away. Never again, life is too short for these type of aweful overpriced restaurants that are serving crappy unedible food.
