Had dinner her after a day on the island. After reading reviews I had to have the whitefish tacos, even thou I had one for lunch on the island that was excellent. First up hubby's whitefish dinner was excellent. The fish was super fresh and seasoned beautifully. My fish tacos were the best I've ever had. I've had a lot of fish tacos but these are by far the best. There were 3 nice size strips in each. The coleslaw, sauce and pick were excellent. You get 2 tacos and they are wrapped together in foil. This is a great thing, take one out a rewrap the other. It stays warm and doesn't go soggy when the taco you are eating drips. Now for the bad news. I ordered the rice Kristen treat to go for dessert. They come prewrapped. It wasn't bad, but there menu description made it sound amazing. Don't let this deter you. Fries are hand cut but not overly salty, the burgers are to order but not there focus so you need to be realistic. White fish tacos are where it's at and should be considered first even if it's not your thing. Beer is in bottle only with a good selection for a little place. Please stop, you won't regret it! Great customer service. Between the four of us, we ordered a cheeseburger, the Cluckin' Waffle, the whitefish sandwich, and the Mac Attack burger. All the entrees were delicious!! I LOVE this place! So much so that during a 3 night stay in St Ignace, we came twice. Both times were relatively early for dinner so didn't need to wait. It was fantastic sitting outside, the ambiance was delightful, right near the water. There wasn't any dish that we didn't enjoy. Let's start with the whitefish fingers - they were delicious! Well seasoned and great texture. I would highly recommend. We also got some boneless chicken wings - also very well done by the team at Gangplank. My favourite appetiser however was the homemade chips and salsa - the salsa was incredible! This is generally a common dish at a lot of restaurants but the salsa at Gangplank was exceptional. Zesty and with bite. I could eat this forever! In terms of mains, I ordered the whole cajun fish which was delicious. Cooked very well, great texture and seasoning. It was also a generous portion. We Yelped and found this restaurant. Went there around 5:30 and waited for at least 35 minutes. When we were finally seated and saw a long line waiting outside. It's a great restaurant and the food was so fresh. The waitresses were wearing their special Tees, such as our waitress was "the girl with flower" because she has a flower on her hair, the front desk girl was "KT" I assume her name is Katie maybe? My husband and I went up North for the weekend and we ended up in this restaurant because of the reviews. The food is great, great flavor and the fries are amazing. The prices are also not bad. We had the fries I forgot the name but they have like 2-3 types of toppings and I had fish tacos they were amazing!! I def recommend that and my husband had the chicken gyro and it was different nothing special. I give it four stars because despite the place is small the service is sooo slow. They do have enough staff but they took their time to take our order and also to get the check. If you are a patient eater definitely you wouldn't mind. read more

Great location with a nice view of the marina. The semi-outdoor seating is refreshing with the gentle lake breeze. We started with the house-made salsa and chips. We all loved it, including our 5 year old. I got the bison burger and it was great. The pulled pork sandwich was very good as was the buffalo chicken salad. I ordered The Whitefish Tacos which is Deep fried whitefish morsels, slaw, sassy hite sauce, and pico de gallo nestled in warm flour tortillas. REALLY GOOD! The Cajun seasoning had just the right amount of kick. I didn't really care for the fries...they tasted kinda bland. Could maybe add a special seasoning to make the fries stand out a little? My husband ordered the cluckin chicken which is basically chicken and waffles with some extra things (I didn't have my phone so I couldn't write it down.) He said that it didn't really "hit the spot" because the Siracha and the maple didn't really pair well in his opinion. Do not be fooled by the description. The decor looks like a hot dog and hamburger joint but the food is much more complex. My wife and I shared the creole broiled whitefish with sweet potato wedges. The fish was well prepared, the potatoes were awesome and even the vegetables had a nice touch to them. Good local craft beer selection. Our server was very polite and attentive. The gangplank does a great job simulating a vacation vibe you find in a water side town. Each table in the porch has a fun game sitting on it. There are couches in the corner as well. The porch is facing Lake Michigan and for a minute you forget you're in Michigan and feel like you might be in Florida! The food is a little over priced, but our sandwiches were delicious and so were the fries!! They had a good selection of beers and they have a daily special with some kind of discount. After a long drive from Munising, my family and I were ravenous and stopped here for lunch. Boy was this a wise decision!!! We started out with amazing appetizers: gator bites, animal fries, and the white fish strips. They were absolutely delicious!! After two days in St. Ignace, my soon-to-be husband and I were looking for some good food and a fun atmosphere, after multiple fails we finally wandered into The Gangplank. What a lucky "mistake"! We started with the Animal Fries, fresh cut potatoes smothered in cheeses and sautéed onions topped with homemade island sauce (think 1000 island). Next up was the Mac Attack burger for me and the white fish fingers for him. Both were soooo good! The food was wonderful and was only topped by the staff! Stephanie was quick, attentive, and fun to talk with. Since we were one of the few tables at that time, she was able to spend time talking and giving us recommendations for things to do locally after our wedding that night. The "Chief" was also cooking and was sweet enough to send delicious caramel walnut brownies to our table to celebrate our upcoming nuptials and my fiancé's birthday. Don't pass on the fries. For an appetizer we had the vampire bread. The food was unbelievably good. By far the best food in the UP.
