I came here 2 days in a row because I was staying at surfside on the lake hotel. This is their roof top bar and restaurant open from 12-9p everyday. Both of my experiences are extremely different. My first time here I came for dinner with a group of friends and we had a phenomenal experience with our waitress Sue. She had great table side manors, she was efficient, and she was so nice and pleasant to speak with. The food was amazing I had a grilled chicken sandwich- my only complaint is that the avocado tasted weird but I just removed it from my sandwich. My friends enjoyed their hot dog meal, pizza, & nachos. We had a wonderful experience and loved our waitress sue so we decided to come back the following day. Our second day here we came for lunch and had a waitress named Jess. She was absolutely horrible and had no table side manors and was extremely rude and bothered to be working with us. I feel she was also racist or judgmental towards her co workers. I asked for the bacon cheeseburger with no onion tomato lettuce, & her response was, "so you want a plain cheeseburger?" & she looked at me like I asked a crazy question. I responded saying well I want the bacon on it so a bacon cheeseburger. My friend, wanted a plain burger with only lettuce and onion, & Jess said," so you want a plain burger with everything on it?" I'm not sure how much more clear we could have spoken to our waitress. She was very nasty. She also made a comment that the cooks are Spanish and she has no idea how she will translate our orders to the cooks. That is not the customers problem or concern and should not have been said to us. Jess never checked in at our table to see if we needed refills, napkins, etc. We needed a refill on drinks, so we found a waitress nearby and were asking for assistance. Jess saw this and came running over & said, " she has no idea what you're saying she doesn't speak English." & she then proceeded to get our drinks. I couldn't believe my ears, how incredibly rude was that comment. Her comment felt very judgmental and rude. She had no class whatsoever. At the end of our meal she came over to us and told us the dollar amount of our bill and walked away. We had to ask for a receipt. Absolutely ridiculous. If I ever came back to this place I want Sue as my waitress!!!! Thank you Sue for your over the top service and friendliness!!!! We ate here two days in a row during our stay at the Surfside. There is a lot of seating and the view from the restaurant is awesome as you can see the beach below and the lake. During our first lunch here on Saturday, we had Sue as a server. She was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and a very warm person. I got the hotdog basket and my partner got the pepperoni pizza. Our friends had nachos and the chicken sandwich. We all enjoyed our food very much. The next day, Sunday, we returned for lunch and had Jess as a server. Unfortunately, our second experience was completely different from the first. Jess came off as passive aggressive and made our experience awkward. This started when we placed our order, she was flustered when my friend asked for gravy and cheese on his fries. She told us "it's a Spanish kitchen so I need to make sure they understand and don't mess it up." Sue was able to give us this exact thing, a side of fries with gravy and cheese, the day before without any issue. Despite this, our food all came out fine and tasted good the second time around as well. I had a burger and the meat was delicious, fries were good as well. Halfway into our meal we needed drink refills and our server was across the room so we asked a Hispanic female server that was standing nearby for a refill on our drinks. Jess rushed over and said "she doesn't understand what you're saying" and went to refill our drinks. We were all shocked by this as it was so unprofessional towards that other server. Even if she didn't understand English, that is not the way to talk to someone in front of customers and it just wasn't nice. We went to the Surfside restaurant and the the waitress gave herself a tip. She was terrible. On the recipt is says her name is Melissaa. She gave a blank stare when I asked if there was a drink menu. I ordered a black bean burger and my friend ordered a hamburger. They gave my friend the bean burger and thinking it was hers, she took the entire burger apart (I don't question eating habits). Then the server gave me the meat burger. I figured out she had switched out order right as my friend went to bite into mine. When I told her she switched out orders, she stared blankly at me again. Look if someone touches my food I'd like it to at least to get redone. If she had given another table the burger and then found out it was wrong after someone pulled it all apart, would you walk it over to another table and serve it? Gross. When the check came she gave herself 18% tip without informing this was going to happen. This is so inappropriate. My friend questioned it and she said that was standard. That didn't happen last time we ate here. Seems like she knew she gave awful service and wanted to make sure she got tipped. Then my friend gave her a debit card to pay. The waitress asked for her pin. Why would anyone ever need that? You swipe it thru as credit. Something really off is going on here. It seems like a scam. This place needs to check out the servers better before hiring. Update: The manager called and started screaming at me. She started by saying what I said about Melissa was uncalled for and unfair. She said that she had video and my burger was cut in half (which it wasn't and I never said it was, so I tend to believe that "video" they have is a lie). The conversation started calm and then the woman started yelling. After the third time of asking her calmly "why are you yelling?" I had to hang up. This "manager" just wanted to yell at me. She got louder and louder. Also I had written a messaged to them on Facebook. When I went back to it I was blocked... so they either blocked me before this "manager" call or immediately after. It seems like it must have been before because she knew she was going to yell at me. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

We ordered take out from here our bill came to $51 I checked our account and it was processed for $69! They added an $18 tip without my consent for a take out order not even sit down. We did leave a tip but not that much. I did not notice unfortunately until I was home from my vacation. I am going to be calling but I doubt anything will be done. I would've given 1 star but I gave 2 because the lady who took our order was very nice and the food we got was good. read more

Never knew about this place until we heard about it from a friend. There isn't a sign for it at the street. It's attached to the Surfside. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a quick bite. Friendly service and a great atmosphere. Will be back for drinks. Seems like a great place to hang after the sun goes down, they were setting up for live music as we left. read more

We spent 5 days at the surf side where this is located. Stopped in for dinner on day 1. Not bad. It's bar food. We had the Baja shrimp tacos, the hot dogs, the surf side burger, the BLT and a Caesar salad. As you can imagine, a salad from a bar food location... not good. The hot dog, the blt, baja tacos and burger were pretty good. If you expect bar food quality food you'll love this place. If you are a foodie, you likely wouldn't even stop there long enough to order. Beware, they added in gratuity to our bill and luckily I caught that before doubling down. Service was good. I visited this restaurant this past Monday (7/16/2018) while visiting the Adirondacks region. 1. The view is spectacular. 2. The food was delicious. Since this is a beach community, I went with a seafood option - the Lobster Roll. My co-diners also really enjoyed their food - Chicken Wings for one & a Reuben for the other. 3. Point three is very important. We had a hard time finding this restaurant because there is no sign at the road for it. We ended up parking on a side street and asking some locals if they knew where it was. Here's what you should do if you want to enjoy this place. Find the Surfside On The Lake Hotel & Suites on route 9n. Drive along the right-hand side of the building, all the way towards the back. Park somewhere back there, then walk the rest of the way into a building that almost looks like a parking garage. There, you will find this hidden gem. Menu is nothing like what we ordered. Ordered pulled pork nachos and received beef and the waiter states it was ground pork.... meanwhile we ordered pulled pork sandwich and all they had to do was put the pulled pork on nachos. Ordered some shrimp poi something on a brioche bun. And received shrimp on top of a hot dog bun. Just order some fries and keep it moving.... everything else is tasteless and not worth the money... also ordered a pina colada and it came out brown and not white... ambiance is probably the only thing this place has going for it. If you are staying at the Surfside, where it is located, it is great for lunch. Walked up from the lake in our bathing suits and ordered. I've been staying at Surfside on the Lake for the past 4 years and I think its outstanding this place finally opened. I had the roastbeef panini and onion rings. My father had a bacon cheese burger. Food was really good for a quick bite. Not an extensive menu but a decent selection. I felt the drinks /beer were a little overpriced but I guess its to be expected when you a tourist drinking at a hotel bar/grill. Staff was also very nice. Will be back next year for sure. read more

While the view was gorgeous, the food was bland and our sever didn't come back once to check on us even after seeing that a bird defecated on one of the meals. She didn't bother to ask why one people barely touched their food. A good server always asks. I'm only giving this place two stars for the view. read more

He gave my friend attitude because he had to make fresh coffee. The next day, after taking my 9 year olds order bartender told him he's not old enough to pay. My other son went up to pay, the bartender asked for me. When I went up to pay he told me he will not serve my kids or me. What a looser. I have never seen a bartender with such nasty attitude.
