This restaurant was a joke. We had reservations for my stepdad's birthday gatheting and when we got here their was no hostess , or anyone around to tend to us. I had to go to the bartender for assistance. She then sat us down and minutes later had us move to another table. Then we started to order and everything we wanted like the deviled eggs and yams was run out already. Grant it was 6pm in the evening. The menu was already small so with two items not being available we left the restaurant. When asked the owner and the server about the mishaps she really did say nothing much nor did they care. There's either street parking and walking far, potentially, or valet for $20. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a hostess who immediately checked me in and walked me to my table. I ordered the deviled eggs appetizer and an oxtail dinner with rice & peas and yams. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. There was love deejay, who kept the vibes nice. There were a few birthday parties going on, so it was a nice environment for a Wednesday night. My friend and I didn't particularly care for the deviled eggs. They just weren't anything special. My oxtails were very skimpy for $42. I understand the price is everything is up, but I'd think that $42 would get me more than 3 oxtails. And the ones I received were fatty. I requested the manager, who agreed that it was rather skimpy, and she gave me a side plate with a few more. I appreciated that, but how does that portion even make it to my table? Lastly, the yams were salty. I have never had salty yams, and I hope to never experience that again. This is the second time I patronized this business, and I was dissatisfied with the food. This location is easy to miss. It's like a hidden jewel. The parking can be limited as it's in a neighborhood but I went for brunch and was early and parked right in front. It wasn't busy when we arrived (4 of us) so we had our choice for seating. We were greeted immediately. The waitress told us about a specialty drink she made and it did not disappoint! Went to Eugene's tonight for a friend's birthday party. We had a great time! We had a decent size party about 12 people, and we had no complaints. The ambiance was cool, loved the music... think D'Angelo, Tamia, Erykah Badu. I was shocked it wasn't busy but I think it's a fairly new restaurant. The service and food were all good too. We ordered: Catfish Bites (well seasoned and perfectly fried), deviled eggs (yummy, and they gave us 4 halves even though the menu said 3), Chicken Alfredo (solid choice and the bread was really good), and a chicken sandwich with fries (loved the sandwich and the fries). Some of the other guests got the dirty bird wings and fries which they also recommended. The prices were okay, not the most budget friendly but also not crazy expensive (cocktails around $16-20, entrees around $20-57) however they have live music some nights so I think it's on par with or even more affordable than other venues. As I said earlier we had a bigger size group and they kindly kept our orders separated by couples, something a lot of places don't offer. Everyone was really kind and I think this place will be buzzing in no time. I heard they also have events like Karaoke and Comedy. We'll be back for sure! read more

The girl bartenders this night was hooking the drinks up. I had a huge issue with the waiter Victor he seem overwhelmed and confused. He kept messing up my wing order and He charged us 30 bucks each 6 pcs wings and it didnt come with sides supposedly. I was going to tell the manager but my friend paid for it and said its fine. My family along with friends decided were encouraged to come to this restaurant for dinner. The experience was clunky, but to their credit they resolved our problems. My biggest issue with the restaurant was their policy of prepaying for your meal. That would prove to be an issue when changes needed to be made on your order. I do not have a problem with restaurants that are cashless, the problem for me is when they make me pay the 3% credit card fee, that is annoying Our waitress at times struggled with knowing the Toast application, but for the most part she was a sweetheart. However, when we 1st arrived there wasn't anyone in the place, which I thought it would give my party a chance to get our orders in & get out food to us quicker. Our reservations were for 4 o'clock to celebrate a friends birthday. When we arrived the server/manager/bartender (Corey) didn't really seem ready for customers, but he gradually came over and took our drink orders. He brought the drinks back after about 40 mins had passed. They came with no straws, though they were in tall Collins type glasses. He told us they were out of straws and waiting on someone to bring them. Unfortunately, his bartender efforts were not too great. The drinks were watered down and when we mentioned it he gave a slight attitude as if we were expected to drink them without any complaints. I should have known then itnwas time to go to another location, in which I had suggested PIPS on Labrea from the start.. We were only a party of 5 at the table initially. I placed my food order along with the rest of my table . I was 3rd to give Corey,, our server & acting manager, and order at the time. I only ordered three fish tacos and ended up being so, so, so disappointed, because I never received my food. Everyone else that ordered and even after me got their food. I sat for over an hour, before the manager that came on duty, finally told me they didnt even have any fish for the tacos. I hosted my two sons Graduation party here. We were a group of 30. The staff, service, bar, food and DJ were Immaculate. All of our food arrived in a timely manner and was fresh and hot. Of everything that was ordered, we really enjoyed the Lamb Chops, Oxtails, Fried chicken, Calamari, Catfish nuggets, Greens and mashed potatoes. Went here for a birthday party. Get in free before 7pm on a Sunday. I and 2 other friends ordered food. It took over an hour to get 5 chicken parts and fries, which the chicken was over cooked, burnt, and over seasoned with salt. One of my friends ordered the catfish nuggets, and it never arrived. The food orders are pre paid before you get your food. No utensils, no napkins, had to constantly ask the waitress to bring back napkins to the table. Asked for a glass water, waitress stated that it's $5.00. I do believe this young lady was working by herself (All the tables in the restaurant). She had stated that there were 2 new runners working, but they were newly hired, and didn't know what they were doing. At one point I seen the owner bringing food out to tables and restocking the bathrooms. I would not recommend this place. It needs a better management team and more workers. The food was horrible. It being our first time there, we shared samples from each other's plates to get an overall sense of the menu. The Brussels sprouts appetizer were surprisingly delicious. The catfish nuggets were a hit & miss. Some pieces came out crunchy, more like catfish strips and were the better tasting pieces. Others were more rounded, more meaty but were soaked in cooking oil that tasted like it hadn't been changed for a couple of days. Catfish from the catfish dinner plate was definitely distinguishable from traditional southern fried - it had that old cooking oil taste. Issue: it took us over 3 hours to get our food and one of my friends didn't get her food at all. Each plate was brought out more than 15 minutes from one another. We didn't get to all eat at the same time. After most of us received our food one of our friends were told that they didn't have anymore food. So 1 person did not get her meal. I kept asking for water, which I didn't receive until I asked for my bill. Her attention span was not good. My order was super simple, and it still wasn't right. I was a party of one, and a 20% gratuity was automatically added to my bill. I should be able to tip what I want, but no signage states that an automatic gratuity would be added to the bill.
