Once seated, we were ignored by our waitress for an additional 20 mins, even after asking for service multiple times. The food is not bad, but nothing special and certainly not worth the cost. The decor and ambiance is very nice, but serves as a bait-and-switch to lure you into a dinner you'll regret. The cherry on top was the lack of birthday/special occasion options even though the reservation noted it, and asking the host, and wait staff about bringing something out (and clarified that a charge on the bill would be fine). The bad reviews for this place surprise me as we did the Valentines set menu for $150 per person and we really enjoyed the whole set up. this place would not last a day in LA, abysmal food and terrible service. a few reviews here mention the racism and i wish i had seen those before walking in because we were treated terribly. i tipped them 15% to show how off-put i was but i think their racism was so deeply ingrained they didn't realise it was supposed to be an insult. the duck was watery and tough, and so was the steak -- sinewy and like chewing rubber. ew. the flavours of nothing went together and we did not finish anything we had ordered. there were so many other better restaurants in solvang there really is no reason to go to this terrible racist place. they even messed up a simple panna cotta. their korean inspired wings were so off, the chef doesn't know how to balance flavours at all. all this on top of being ignored much of the night -- to the point that our water glasses were unfilled for much of it. i got to a restaurant at least weekly, and this is by far, easily, the top two worst places i have ever been to. read more

Amazing service and amazing food. Our family started with Ceaser Salad which was the perfect size and not too heavy. The anchovies on top complemented the ceaser dressing very well. For main courses we indulged in the Miso Black Cobb, the Tuna Tar Tar and the Indonesian Chicken Soup. The Black Cobb melted in your mouth with an amazing miso taste. The tuna was not too fishy and was perfectly cut. The broth in the sooth was also splendid. The restaurant was not too busy and was very peaceful with a comforting vibe. I had a horrible experience at the restaurant on New Year's Eve. It was just me and my girlfriend dining in, but they tried to charge a 21% gratuity on our check. I asked the manager to explain it to us. He said they were charging 21% on every table that night and claimed it was communicated to everyone by their hostess, which was a lie. They never informed us about the mandatory gratuity nor their written policy about it. I told him I was not informed and refused to pay the gratuity, but the manager threatened us that he would call the authorities if I don't pay the tips. What terrible service and management. There is no federal or state laws that tips are mandatory. You should avoid this place at all costs! read more

Unfortunately this new location in the center of Solvang does not allow for a comfortable and pleasurable eating experience. The menu is limited, expensive and consists of unusual combinations of ingredients that fail to meld appropriately. Came for brunch on a Sunday morning. Though the service was slightly slow, the food that my girlfriend and I ordered was fantastic! Pretty nice inside too. My omelette with sourdough toast and home fries was a perfect mesh of taste, and my girlfriend's pancakes were delightful. If I ever come back to Solvang, I'd like to try more food from this place. Service started out a bit uneven but once the place filled up seemed to run more smoothly. We were a little early for the dinner rush and arrived without a reservation during a busy holiday week. We had a remarkable roasted cawliflower with very thin, delicious, hummus sauce, capers and topped with fried onion? or some very mild vegetable, green herb sauce, along with a charred cabbage and spicy peanut sauce for appetizers. Followed that with panko herb crusted salmon served with red cabbage that had just a hint of vinegar, perfect with the fatty fish, and duck with delicious sweet potato puree. After dropping off the boys to fish at the lake, I found my way here on Sunday morning for some brunch. It was very busy, though Google Maps said it was closed. The ambience is well executed modern classic. From table linens to light fixtures, everything was clean design without being cold. I chose to sit at the bar and was welcomed immediately by the bartender who was friendly and attentive throughout my meal. All staff were equally great; aware but not hovering. The menu is reasonably broad and priced. I chose the avocado toast "two ways" that included egg. Though I would judge the dish as too seedy (black sesame, pepitas, and a very crusty whole grain bread) the garnishes were beautiful to look at and provided surprises and balance on a well-known plate. They welcomed us and our fur baby. The food was great but I only post reviews when I know the place deserves recognition. The gentleman (Adrian) that served us was great with questions, recommendations, and even went out of his way to bring our pup a toy to play with. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. They have only been open for a few months so chill and enjoy yourself it's an adventure in dining. My table mates said the salmon was the best they had ever had ($33), and I had the miso black cod ($35) which was fabulous. We shared the steak tartare appetizer which was also amazing...you have to try it if you think you won't like raw meat; I am definitely a convert! Went here after taking a trolly tour and had seen this on our route. We went on a Saturday night around 6:30 or so and got seated outside quickly without a reservation. Outside has heaters and looked like the staff was providing blankets for those he needed them. We were warm enough with a heater right next to our table for 2. Food was.. amazing.
