Came here to watch the Knicks finals with a big group of friends and I loved it! The bar was spacious and had multiple rooms/areas so it was able to accommodate a lot of people. It also had TVs and projects everywhere. Didn't try their food but their drinks were okay--a little bit on the weaker side. Nice space and would definitely come back. read more

I booked a party at the Globe on the eve before a 3 day holiday weekend. The time slot for my party was 9:30-11:30 pm. I estimated I would have about 35 people. I called the day before the finalize details. I wanted to confirm if I was paying a flat rate by person by the hour or if I would just pay the table at the end of the two hours depending on what people ordered. The man I spoke to didn't seem interested at all in speaking with me and answering my questions or helping me figure out the best way to handle the party. I asked what if I showed up with less or more people would they want me to pay a certain price and he just said "we'll figure it out when you get here" and rushed me off the phone. The next night I admit that I was 20 minutes late as we were coming from another venue close by and we didn't all show up at the same time. The man who was there was rude from the moment I arrived. I had already given the bartender at the back bar my credit card and we were ordering drinks and the guy said we had to move into the main bar area. While I wasn't happy about it I would have understood if the guy was not so rude and obnoxious about it. When I asked where my credit card was he said he gave it to the bartender at the main bar where there were some people (not in my party) already hanging out. I asked the guy how the bartender would know who to charge on my card and he got nastier and said "he knows the name on the card, we do this all the time". Well the bartender didn't seem to have a clue that there was a group there together and that their drinks were supposed to be on my card because I found out the next day that people were charged individually for their own drinks. My husband had settled up at the night and realized that roughly $30 was put on my card. He didn't tell me at the time as he did t want to upset me. It was my birthday party. I recognize we were late showing up but I did have at least 25 people there and all of my guests ended up paying for their own drinks. If the guy had just tried to work with me a little bit to ensure that my group was treated like we were all together and been made to feel welcome rather than being annoyed and rude to me this review would have been very different and the bartender would have gotten a big tip. We are generous friendly people and we are very grateful for good service but I will not put up with being treated the way this person treated me. I will never go to the Globe again. I live in the neighborhood and will tell all my friends who live in the neighborhood about this experience as well. It's extremely disappointing because they were very few people in the bar to begin with, way less than the number of people I had in my party, and if he had just put a little bit of effort into it, it would not have been difficult to ensure that my group was treated like my party and that we were all together. Clearly, he didn't know what he was doing despite the fact that he may do this all the time. read more

Dark arrived as an amber lager- mild with nice character- in a frosted mug to keep it cold. Sweet Potato or Regular Fries? Sweet potato is an option?! Yes please! When the burger basket arrived I noticed it wasn't just a burger, but a cheese burger, bonus! This may be the best burger & beer deal in the city. The bun was the kind that squishes flat when you need it to, but still absorbs the ketchup mayo dressing and lettuce juices from hitting your hand. This bar had some cool moments but the music was wayyyy too loud ! I stopped here after having dinner next door because I thought it would be more of a chill old school bar. It definitely was with the design and moments through out (exposed brick walls, carved wood moments and solid bar, details of things), but they definitely made it more "hip" with the music. I ordered a cider and they only had one option which is on par with a lot of bars these days. I enjoyed it though. The bartenders don't talk to you too much which I was actually glad of because the music was so loud ! It seemed like it was primarily groups of people here having a good time or kicking off their Saturday night shenanigans. This review is of the bar as I did not have any food here during this visit. I went to the globe for a friends bday and was pleasantly surprised. They have a large semi private space in the back of the bar for larger groups and parties with a dedicated bar. The drinks were absolutely delicious and affordable (in comparison to nyc standard pricing). I will say that the overall crowd does skew on the young side (like just graduated college young) but despite this, my friends and I had a great time. After 10pm they have a DJ in the back and what seems like a standard bar turns more into a nightclub (but keeps the noise at a reasonable level) read more

Do you ever have a place saved on your "to try" list and then when you are looking at said list at future date you're like, when and why did I add this to my list? Well that was the globe for me tonight... but for the tldr crowd = great spot! I ended up here when a coworker and I decided to do drinks and food in the area. I saw this place on my aforementioned list, but I couldn't get a good feel for it online and frankly was worried it would be too divey/dingey (don't get me wrong, that's a vibe I love as well, just not the vibe I was going for tonight). We actually initially tried to go to ampersand around the corner but the wait for 2 (bar or table) at 7:45pm on a Wednesday was 45min! So to the globe we went! And I'm so glad I did! The bar was full but not packed (though we stayed long enough for that wave to leave and the 10pm wave to come in, at which point it did start to get a little more crowded). We sat at the bar, which was very nice and clean, the whole place had a very wooden feel, with tasteful and sweet Christmas lights strung around the bar. Bartender/service greeted us right away, showed us the QR code, back promptly for orders! Decent draft beer list, cocktails looked good too (though I didn't try any - was definitely tempted). Came here to meet up with a few friends to have a chat about business related stuff. The bar was not really crowded at all, so we were able to speak freely and not needing to yell over crowd noise. As soon as you enter the bar, you are asked if you're vaccinated or not. Don't know what happens if you say no, but luckily didn't have to go down that route. I ordered Fish and Chips ($18). I attended a small gathering of 8 people here last night. We had our own alcove reserved. The serving staff was very friendly and efficient, the chicken wings and guacamole tasted great; the sliders were not overcooked as at many other venues and the tap beer was nice and cold. The only disappointment was the mini egg rolls which tasted like the ones you buy in the supermarket. But they were served hot with a flavorful dipping sauce, so no worries after a couple of Globe Lights! Is this a Baruch bar? Yes, but as a Baruch graduate student I fully appreciate them being so close to campus and having a solid happy hour. Not that I would drink before class, as the would be wrong. Cough. Anywho, their happy hour includes a 12$ beer and burger special (house light or house dark , ends at 7pm). The fries that come with that aforementioned deal are surprisingly on point, just sayin'. There is a million places to sit/stand and a large group fits in nicely here. The corhort above is arranged a "welcome to the school" happy hour in the green room, where beers were dirt cheap - not sure how much this ran them, but my guess is not a whole lot. "You can only touch each other with the Brush"- Denartny. Rules were set. Rules had to be broken because at some point, I did had to touch the arms, hands, and fingers of the guys I was painting. I came in for a PaintDate event that Denartny had. I wasn't here for the dates, I came for the paint and the opportunity to paint on people's bodies..lolol. of course, if I would had met an nice single man I wouldn't mind as well. lol I didn't hit it off or felt that chemistry with none of the participants, but what can I say? I have a unique and selective style of the kind of men I like to date. They need to have that something something, you know that says "I want you" with the right amount of hormones. Whenever Denartny creates and event is always best of the best. His experience and the way he paints on bodies is unique. Then, add the fact that he has such an amazing professional personality to work with, makes me wanna be around him anytime for body paint. We had a lovely side area of the bar for this event, this bar is big enough for that. The way the seats are located makes it for the perfect place to come and have a great time just about for any occasion. I don't know many bars in NYC, however, this one makes it a top favorite for me with just one visit. The Bartender was friendly and gave me taste of beers so I got to choose a good one. The Body paint section was a LOT of fun. I was able to be creative and do nice art on a few guys. The way it was planned was great. We rotated partners, so we all got to have a few minutes painting each other and getting to know each other quickly. I did got a lot of attention because of the fluidity and easiness of my paintings, everyone noticed that I was "too good" and too experienced with the brush and creating great art on them. Let's say, I blew them off. lol I did felt like I was cheating because I was sooo interested into painting the guys rather than into getting to know them or connecting with them..lolol All in all, this can be a great bar to come specially now with the good weather, there are nice seating tables on the sidewalk. read more

I celebrated my birthday (a decade changer) there this past week and I can't properly express how absolutely wonderful they were. The manager, James, is a darling and went waaaay out of his way to cut the cake we brought for us, put it on plates, etc... He helped make it a special event. We had about 20-25 people show up throughout the five hour evening and the staff were kind and attentive. The place is fantastic for events (there was a much larger one going on simultaneously in a room next door), the food is great, whiskey selection top notch (better than some big places around Penn and Times Square) and reasonably priced.
