The Goat is a chain but it offers consistent house staples that are certain to please. I've been here on both business lunches and casual dates with my husband and I've always walked away satisfied. My favorite spot to dine at this location is on their patio, situated adjacent to the nearby apartment complex's pool. At my last visit, my husband and I shared the whipped feta, Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes with garlic aioli, and the slider trio. The crunchy yet chewy pita was a nice surprise and I enjoyed the candied pecans topping the tangy feta. The sweetness from the potatoes helped tame the bitterness that comes with most Brussels sprouts preparations. Each slider was more unique than the one before. Everything was enjoyable and I'd recommend it all and gladly order each item again at a future visit. read more

We've been here several times now and the experience has been a pleasant one, but the food doesn't blow me away. It's more about the execution than anything. The service is good, the vibes are right, but the food is average. This last visit we got chicken wings that were lemon pepper parm flavored. There wasn't a punch of lemon and the flavor and texture of the wing fell flat. It wasn't bad, just average. My ceasar salad was good, but there were large chucks of the bottom of the romaine in the salad. Again, nothing to complain about, but just lacked the extra that it would take to get 4 or 5 stars. I've been to the Mt. Juliet location several times over the years and it's been consistently good. It's like half restaurant and half Bar. There are plenty of TV's to watch the games on. There's not much decor to soak up the noise so it can get loud in there when they are busy. They serve brunch on the weekends until 2:00 p.m. This review is for Sunday brunch. They have a full bar along with umbrella covered tables outdoors and a volleyball court. Good atmosphere, clean. Was able to hit the happy hour (before 6pm) for $2 off apps and Burgers. Chips and Queso were ok. I'm not a thick chip guy, but they need to be for the thick queso. Great flavor Burger was ok. Let's just say it was cooked throughly. Liked the special sauce (little pepper kick) and bacon. Fries were ok. The burger was really dry. Would go back for a second try. Service was friendly and fast. $26 for Nashvegas burger, fries, nachos/queso and tip. Had water. Edit-I did not notify any staff. Thanks to management for reply. My wife and I went here on mother's day just by chance. Pros: -We were able to sit at the bar immediately without a reservation -The biscuit sampler was fun, even if the biscuits were a bit dry, we loved the sauces - Staff was friendly although slow (it was a holiday so we expected, but it was not overly busy during our time) Cons: -The carnivore scramble was horrible. A complete joke of a meal- cold, overcooked scrambled eggs with two pieces of small pork belly and a few pieces of chopped up deli ham -Everything arrived cold except the hash browns/ I think our food must have sat there for ten+ minutes waiting on those to get done -The staff kind of shrugged and gave us 10% off the scramble (like $1) when we mentioned it was inedible politely and she took away the basically untouched meal. I told her we didn't want a comp, just to let her know, but I'd almost rather her do nothing than take off 10%, right? The aesthetics are cute but I'd avoid this place, honestly. read more

We ate here while staying at the nearby hotel. There were several great things about Goat's but one very frustrating thing. The food was awesome, especially if you like pizza or bar food. Very well done, decent prices and great flavors. The service was also fun, and relaxing. Cool atmosphere with with beach volleyball and outdoor seating. Our waitress was phenomenal. She was so good she almost made up for the utter incompetence at the bar. The drinks took forever, as in order two rounds at once so you actually can finish your drinks during your dinner. All of the bar and kitchen service was so slow. It took us 2 plus hours to eat a normal meal Still a great choice for dinner while at the nearby hotels. Would come here again read more

Monday night and Back in MJ! We decided to come and visit one of our favorite spots, The GOAT. We were really looking forward to their tots as that is why we come here. We were disappointed to find out they had changed the tots once again. Not only have they done away with the beer cheese and replaces it with a queso sauce (to be fair, this has been changed for a while now), but now the tots have completely changed. Instead of a "haystack style" tot, they are now a large tot mixed with cheese. Texture and flavor both changed. They are almost mashed potato consistency inside. We drove 30 minutes for a slight disappointment. We ordered 3 baskets of tots. $24 of disappointment. Tots aren't bad, just not what we were expecting at all. Now, the rest of our meal. I had the half loaf and never had it before. Besides the bread being a bit hard from over toasting, it was very flavorful. My fiancé and daughter had the boneless wings like they normally do. They were good and just like before, not too hot and cooked just right. All in all the main dishes were tasty and what we expected. Not a bad visit, but to say we were disappointed with the tots would be the understatement of the year. Probably the main reason we come here. May influence our meal decision next time we stop in MJ. read more

We heard they are building a Restaurant in Lebanon, TN so we decided to try this location. The service was horrible and slow. I ad to ask for a server to come take our drink order. The Halfaloaf was horribly dry. Had to take all the meat off of the bun to eat it. My wife had the pepperoni pizza and the spice level was too much for her. Needless to say we are no longer excited about the new The Goat coming to Lebanon. read more

The place is really nice. We had a great server, Haven, that helped suggest some of her favorite cocktails. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower as an appetizer and that was fantastic! The good! Our server Abigail was fantastic! Excellent attention and solid service. This is a really great space that's too hidden and at first glance seems to be a giant clubhouse for the apartments; sitting back off the road with signage that also is a good bit back off the road & weird directional placement that can't be seen well driving by naturally. Is it intentional to be an IYKYK kinda thing? Some city rules with signage? I found it randomly thanks to Yelp. Seems the GOAT has a fun schedule of events like trivia and bingo, and they have really nice volleyball courts. The bar is huge and has a really nice set up. The menu is decent, covering bar staples, some elevated twist like their taco options. Burgers were great as was the fried pickles appetizer. The bad - I originally was giving the benefit of doubt that I received someone else's order and was simple question to our server if I got the right food. I ordered their Baja chicken wrap which per menu "Blackened chicken, bacon, cheddar, avocado, lettuce, tomato, scallions, chipotle ranch, tortilla." That is not what I was served, particularly no cheese & plain grilled chicken. That seemed like something someone may have particularly ordered as such. Server asked if I'd like it remade & I said "sure!" & she later came to take it back. Surprisingly, the manager came out with it, to tell me I got the right food, and her go to point in this was that it had avocado and that was only sandwich that had avocado. This had me baffled, so I pointed out what was on the menu, which is what I ordered, versus what I was served. She seemed focused on defense of her kitchen. To my chicken just being plain grilled chicken, she countered that "blackend" chicken WAS JUST grilled chicken; color me confused on the semantics here on what constitutes "blackened" chicken, as were others at the table, and she then elaborated that it was grilled chicken but "tossed" in seasoning/sauce. She was insistent that I got the food correctly, continuing not to see it was missing cheese & was plain chicken, but that she would remake it extra seasoned for me, implying now that the only issue was it wasn't spicy enough for me.... This manner of "customer service" was really inappropriate, making me feel talked down to for food item not served to their own menu description. Seemed she was more focused on it not being their "fault" over it actually being a simple mistake and making it right. And for me right was simply what I ordered per their menu. Five stars for our server who was pleasant and understanding. And overall food was good and a fun setting, but wouldn't recommend the Baja "blackened" chicken wrap. read more

Since they no longer offer The Goat burger or even an option to add goat cheese to it, I went with the All American burger. It came out with one side black and cooked well done. Bartender was kind and offered to replace it. New burger came out exactly the same. It had no flavor - tasted like the bun. Even the side salad had old, wilted lettuce and cucumber from last week. I sat at the bar and the bar top felt like it had been scrapped with something and was sticky - felt dirty. Now I know why this place isn't hopping like it used to be. read more

Food was good. Ambiance was perfect for a small gathering. However, Shelby, our server, was fantastic. Truly. Excellent hospitality and genuine concern for her guests. She understood the intricacies of guest service and took it upon herself to make certain we got the best service and made the best decisions regarding our order. She is top-notch and will go far, whatever she decides to pursue. It was a welcomed experience, after previous visits only proving basic at best, so far as service is concerned. I look forward to going back and hopefully- if we aren't able to have Shelby's section- that service standards have been improved all around. She is a model of her position and she only deserves the opportunities to rise above, as far as bartending and further are concerned. read more

Not sure if was the post Sunday brunch letdown, but sadly The GOAT is no longer the G.O.A.T. 20 minute wait, apparently due to staffing. That written, the staff was awesome! Friendly, attentive and responsive. So while few in numbers, they were great. Wanted to sit out but apparently they had a "dive bombing" hornet problem and were offered seats a high tables in the bar area. (Wanted to enjoy the nice, warm fall day on their patio.) However, it was the food that was the let down. G had the French Toast and it was, at best, warm. And soggy. Which also described the French Fries accompanying my buffalo chicken wrap. Unfortunately, the fries were cold. Part of the wrap was cold too. Frankly more wrap than contents (which were too salty) and what little contents there was good. Mentioned the cold fries and our server brought out hot, tasty fries. Suspect there was a breakdown between the kitchen and serving staff and our meals were allowed to get cold and not served as soon as they were prepared. So, that is something management ought to look into if they want to be the G.O.A.T. again. read more

Went for lunch on a weekday with a friend. We were sat quickly and the server was great. We had the tater tots (filled with cheese, yum!) as an app and I got the Baja chicken wrap (no avocado) and fries. They were good. My friend got the sampler with wings (garlic hot), chips and queso and the mozzarella sticks - the wings and mozzarella sticks were really good. The food did take like an hour to get, they were probably 1/3 full so not sure why. My friend mentioned she had been there a few weeks ago and received similar wait times for food. My friend's favorite restaurant that was her choice tonight for our meetup. And I can completely understand why - this spot is pretty awesome. Inexpensive but high end options on the menu, lots of beers and cocktails, several televisions tuned in to sports, and pool table. I was early so a couple of Yelp reviews while I enjoyed a beer and an order of their tots. These are not store-bought mass-produced tots, they're hand-made and have a fun cheesy sauce. When my friend arrived, I had a second beer and then ordered the Bleu Buffalo pizza. It arrived quickly and was fantastic. It had a bleu cheese base, crispy chicken pieces with buffalo sauce and some bleu cheese crumbles with a ranch drizzle. Delicious though perhaps not as spicy as it should have been.
