Food is good and has a nice flavor. I feel like the texture of their rice and overall presentation is better than some other places. I really enjoy the chicken mei fun with garlic string beans. If you get the seafood eggroll (the one with cream cheese) try it with "chili oil" (it costs a couple cents more). The sweet and sour chicken has a good breading to chicken ratio. They are good about letting you get sauces on the side instead of smothered on the food. I love their bourbon chicken but don't always like the sauce getting in my white rice like that. My only "complaint" is that I wish they had some bok choy, bamboo shoots, or some other type of vegetables instead of broccoli and carrots (cooked carrots are one of my least favorite things on earth). read more

I have been eating at the golden egg roll for more than a decade. I would say that the service is a little bit slow even if you do call in. Every time I walk into the establishment it is a huge line in the drive-through and also doing walk-in orders as well. I would say the best time to go to the Golden eggroll if you want the best thing for your book as to check out their lunch, menu. I will send my goal to order is usually shrimp egg for young and beef lo mein. And if I'm willing to push it a bit, I will say that Mongolian beef is pretty good and I do enjoy spicy food. When you do order your food and it's time for you to check out please ask for extra soy sauce or duck sauce or mustard sauce, cause they usually will just give you one of each so you do have to ask for extra. But I will see that the service is pretty smooth like if you do call in the order they'll give you a number and then tell you to come in 15 minutes or so. You still may have to wait a bit of extra time. The parking lot is a little tight so if you do decide to drive through. To make the order you may be waiting a bit more just because of convenience. The last time I had the Mongolian beef it was pretty tender and I also got the house rice a multitude of things just combine with gravy. read more

Their food is always super fresh and piping hot. Their line is ALWAYS wrapped around the building so you may experience a little bit of a wait but not too long. Alright, I'll attempt to keep this clear and concise so you see what's this all about. No matter what day during the week, this place always draws a crowd! I will say it's busier during the weekends .. if you're thinking of stopping by, go inside as opposed to the drive-thru. This Chinese American cuisine is like no other in the city, in my opinion. There's been a few places I've tried but I keep coming back here. It could be because of how friendly the staff is. When you become a regular, guilty, they remember your name and check up on your family. I think it could also be that they're a neighborhood cornerstone and I feel their food is catered as such. The aforementioned food is always hot and made to order! The wings, the fried rice, the eggrolls, the gravy .. maaaan, you can get that gravy poured over everything, it just compliments the meal. The veg, not soggy, that nice al denté bite of the broccoli and carrots .. the crispy sweet & sour chicken. I ordered my usual test dish of chicken and broccoli. The staff was polite but not out of the friendly even when I told them that this was my first visit to this restaurant. The clientele of the business were very nice however. As a matter of fact on of them told me that the same restaurant on Atlantic was much better than this one and that he only stoped here if he was working in the area. Ok back to the food. I'd say that the meal was nothing to write home about. The rice was not great and the chicken and broccoli sauce was soupy. The broccoli was fresh and had a crunch but the sauce flavor was mediocre. This is definitely the best Chinese restaurant in northwest Jacksonville or Jacksonville period. Ive been coming here for over 15 years and this has always been my favorite place for Chinese. Of course I haven't eaten at every single Chinese restaurant in Jax, but I don't think any of the others come close.
