In the IHG hotel in Pocatello, we had gone to a dinner, and wanted to follow it up with a few beers... ran into The Grapevine at random, but a great random. Wine, beer, tea... and they had an amazing selection of beers some we had never seen before. We found out they did tastings, which we couldn't partake of (just one night more in Pocatello), and we had a wonderful conversation with the person there - who was quite knowledgeable. We chose six beers we had not tried before, and shared them with each other - some that night, some when we got back home from our trip (we had also gotten some of their loose teas). Love this business. They have lots of beer to choose from which are not found in many locations in Idaho. Their wine selection is also quite extensive. But for me the surprise was loose teas, both with caffeine and without. So many teas to choose from and they smelled fabulous. Of course I also bought some beer as well. I love Stouts and they had a nice selection of which I totally enjoyed once I reached my destination for the evening. I didn't buy wine this time, but maybe next time. read more

Very nice guy that worked there helped me pick out a wine that paired with my dinner and it was ammmmazing. I also like the tea collection!

I'm used to Mission Liquors in my neck of the woods, so when I traveled to Idaho one of the first stops on my agenda was this high(er) end beer and wine shop. The lady that owns the place was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't have as much Southern Californian craft brews as I wanted but when in Rome do as the Idahonians do. Get something else. I bought a lovely oatmeal stout, a bottle of French wine, and a beverage from Holland that was essentially red wine brewed with chocolate. It was pretty spectacular. It reminded me of eggnog minus the brandy. I'd never had it before and I will again. They do not sell hard liquor do to the lame laws that govern who and who cannot sell hard liquor and spirits. Either way, if you like craft brew they have a nice selection of regional ones. If you're looking for something rare or special ask and they may be able to order it for you. It does take a while for brews to make it over here if they're special or limited edition. read more

Pocatello as the city itself is not big or even half big (no traffic and less crime are main advantages) so the selection is not huge ,but very decent for the area. I liked , that they have some European beers and wines.Also appreciate them having crafted beers, not available elsewhere . Overpriced ? Not too badly I would say , of course I remember living in Europe , where same items are much cheaper , but I'd rather pay extra not to fly there myself. The only thing I noticed , I am used to wine bottles having a cork and I remember buying imported Alsacian wine with a screw cap . Why pay $40 for imported wine to celebrate your special occasion if it is designed to look like Boones Farm ? read more

I don't live in the area, but I've stopped in and purchased here for at least 15 years on and off. When you consider the market it's a great little place. It's not like you expect a BevMo with a thousand beers and even more wine. They have an excellent selection of beer and wine. They are friendly and helpful. They are a little ray of sunshine. Small selection of GOOD beer. They now have growler fills for typical prices ($12-18 I think). But I think they only have 1 or 2 beers on tap at a time. The only place in Pocatello to get good bottled beer. They have wine, wine tasting, brewing supplies, chocolate and bulk/bagged tea too. I think it's 5% off a six pack. You can mix various bottles to make your own. Pretty limited hours but that's ok! It's a small, private business. The people there are very nice. read more

Kathleen, the owner of the grapevine is amazing. She knows so much. I like being able to get recommendations on a wine and a price range and knowing that if she recommends it, that it's going to be good. I also like that you can take a 6 pack holder and take six different beers and try them instead of having to buy six of something you might not like. It's unfortunate the liquor authorities take so much control over the wine/beer market in Idaho as I think there would be more variety if they let the free market take it's course. Oh, how I love this place! So cute... filled with touristy crap and little gadgets that are deemed worthless to most people. You can find everything/anything from dips and magnets to craft beers, wine, and tea. I love beer stores and I believe this may be the only one in Pocatello. They had a bigger variety than I expected, with many popular brews as well as localish (Jackson Hole, etc). brews. They also sell loose leaf tea (yay), and have a huge selection of wine. The best part is that they have a large dog lounging in the aisles, how fun! Awesome place to stop by. Also, very reasonable prices. read more

I stopped in to find a birthday present for my dad, they were very helpful and extremely friendly! They even put a bow and ribbon on the selection of beer I bought for my dad! Traveling through Poky on the way to Wyoming. Stopped in to load up on some craft brew for the trip. The staff were very helpful and informative. I was given a brief but concise run down on the fine selection of local and regional craft brew. The mix and match six pack option is always welcome when trying a bunch of new beer. Honestly, most of the staff are wonderful. Whoever the older lady is there.... I think she's the owner.... has been awful the last 2 times I've encountered her. Because of this I will now shop for all of our wine making needs online. I fully believe in supporting local business but not if the owner is going to be snarky and rude. They also have a nice selection of local & regional brews and wine. Discounts are offered if you're buying in quantity. They have great coffee and tea in bulk.
