This place is great. It is kinda sad to see only 2 reviews on this place. As Carissa said on here, I may be slightly bias as well, being that I grew up in Tecumseh about 15 minutes away and would go here growing up every few weeks. The place is always busy and service is always very good. They have a fresh, authentic mexican food that never lets you down. Chips and salsa when your seated like standard places, however, you get a homemade cheese sauce that is the bomb. Maybe it's nostalgia, but my family and I love this restaurant, and have been coming back for over 15 years. We drive 40 minutes, one way, just for their pitchers of margaritas and great Mexican food. I love that you can get things a la carte, or a dinner platter, with plenty of rice and beans on the side. There's something for everyone and we've never left hungry. The wait can be intimidating, but they do a good job of seating people quickly. And the food is worth it! read more

Went here on a recommendation from a friend. Snotty server. Chips and queso are anything but authentic. Waited close to an hour for food after snagging a staff other then our server to find out about the delay. When our food finally came out server expressed how bad she felt for the kitchen. Stopped here while traveling through. We go through Adrian once a month. Sunday night 18:30. Waited 15 minutes for a party of two. While waiting we observed a waitress refilling the chip warmers. She was using her bare hands to assist in emptying the chip bucket into the hopper (ended up being Jenni, our waitress)I ordered two tacos. One fish and one of the slow cooked beef. Both seemed heavily salted. Fish taco had two pieces of fish in it and nothing else. Both tacos were served on a plate with a side of pico. Chips were refilled. My son (11) has three beef tacos which were on special. He wasn't impressed. They looked decent and were filled with lettuce, tomato and cheese. He commented they didn't have much flavor. Salsa is kept on the table in a large, unrefrigerated container. Both of us had water. Tasted like it was ran though a filter. Food serving time was normal. Chips are not hot or even warm. Chip warmer is stuffed so full that the light bulb doing the heating can't heat the whole bin + water filtered + chips refilled. + interior kept up and maintained + led lighting Waitress (Jenni)left dirty plates on table. Until bill was brought. Bill remained on table an excessive amount of time. But once taken was ran and brought back quickly. Wished us a good week. With a few tweaks this place could be a lot better. Perhaps it used to be better? We've been to Fiesta Ranchera a couple times. I would go there again before coming back here. read more

After a 35 minute wait on a Friday night . . . Us: "Is the rice salty?" Waitress: "No. In fact I don't think there is enough salt." Here's what was bad: All the food was extremely salty. The refried beans were watery and pale, like they were out of a can. Here's what was merely OK: Chips were warmed under a hot lamp before being served. The guacamole was cut with sour cream, but still tasty. Fajitas were just ok, but again too salty. The salsa is watery, so that it can be dispensed out of a squeeze bottle, but has some decent heat to it. "Spanish" Rice is the white colored variety, not the red tomato type. read more

It was just weird. I love Mexican food and the advertised "authentic" is so far from the truth. The chips came out of bag and are not freshly fried. Here's another Menudo review. All the food here is exceptionally good and hot. Decent service, full plates. Large menu covers the usual culinary Mexican waterfront. But to the Menudo. It's damn good. The color leans toward more of a tan palette. Probably not loaded up as much with chili powder. It's ok thought. Not insipid, and loaded with correct sized chunks of tripe. All the ingredients are there and you get the chopped onions, lemons/limes and salsa. The only difference between The Sportsmans in Port Huron, is no small bowl of pureed jalapenos. Gotta have the verde to make this bowl balanced. Ok, next stop, Mexican town. Who claims they have a good Menudo bowl down there. Lemme know! read more

Very overrated. Wait times are long and the cheese sauce tasted like melted Velveeta. Our server didn't seem to care about drink refills. We had to ask for the bill after being forgotten about. It is just another restaurant in Adrian that caters to the lack of taste buds this town seems to cater to. I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for an authentic experience. The food is simply awesome, I have not found another mexican place I like better. We had a great meal there tonight! We told our server, Janet, it was our first time here and asked for recommendations. She gave us info but went a step further and had the kitchen do a small sample of each type of meat and sauce they offer! What a perfect way to try everything and get a feel for the menu. We decided on the chicken chimichanga and the mixed fajitas, chicken and steak. The steak was phenomenal!! El Chapulin is a must for good Mexican food in Adrian. The service is great and the bar is fantastic. At a time when there is little to do and not much to see downtown, there is Grasshopper. I live in Texas now, and I would put the food here shoulder to shoulder with any Mom and Pop place in San Antonio. read more

My husband and I come here about twice a month. It is one of our top three favorite resturants for our "date nights". The food is always great, I usually order something extra for us to take home.
