It was ready in about 10 minutes. The fried pickles were just okay and weren't battered right. The chicken fried steak burger was amazing and comes with gravy or other sauces, one of the most creative burgers I've seen. The BBQ burger was good. It's super unfortunate that I have to leave this review, because I love Grease Monkey. It was the first establishment that I attended once I became of drinking age and I cherish it as such. What caused me to leave a one star review was the bartender by the name of Emily. She was very dismissive with me when I arrived to the bar to order. Her greeting was "what do you want". She then rudely told a patron to "turn his music down" on his phone when the bar was only filled with 4 people and he was just watching Tik Tok, he wasn't bothering anyone. He felt disturbed and left instantly. A gentleman next to him noticed how she treated him and left as well and then guess what, my friend and I followed right behind him! Emily needs to realize that you can't speak to adults like children and that you can't be dismissive to the people that you are serving. In this day and age, people will just leave..as we did! The festive neon signage illuminated us to Grease Monkey on a hot and muggy Tuesday summer night. Packed to the seams with people, I was skeptical at first. The ambience was killer and people watching unparalleled (we observed [from a safe distance] a-little-too-tipsy girl almost tumble over backwards from a table in the patio area). Awesome string patio lighting, various types of seating, a stage, arcade machines, and did I mention open until 2AM?! An unofficial UTA hotspot, btw, bumped into at least 5 familiar faces! Ordered the Angry burger and was not disappointed :) The burger is HUGE. In fact I had a little left for a midnight snack! The bun was perfect; sweet and soft with no annoying sesame seeds. The patty itself had to be an inch thick. It was impeccably charred and flavored with a healthy smattering of hot sauce. The thick slice of cheese helped meld the spicy flavors. I can be a bit fussy with texture, so my only tiny complaint had to be the whole green chile - it was a little too much for me obstructing me from my meat but after I pulled some pieces out it was great! The spice/flavor level was awesome! The burger was the appropriate balance of greasy and moist. I just really appreciate a burger with flavor. I could probably write a page on the sweet potato WAFFLE fries. Just when you think Chik-FilA fries can't be topped, they got sweet potato'ed!!!! My burger and fries came out to $11.58, including tax so not bad considering I really could've saved half of my burger and fries for another meal instead of inhaling it and food coma-ing like I did. NOTE that on game days they don't offer many of their "fried foods" that you would expect to have as an appetizer with your drinks such fried pickles, onion rings, etc., which I thought it was odd. White paint on the hoods of the vintage trucks let you know what's on the menu! Signature burgers, fries (regular and sweet potato), salads and dogs + build your own options. Chicken Fried Bacon Chipotle BBQ Burger & Fried Portobello Mushroom Burger were stellar!! The bacon and mushroom- both fried, perspectively on each burger, were the cherries on top. The chipotle bbq sauce and blue cheese mayo combined the flavors and added robust elements. Not to mention the buns are grilled, Hawaiian style. *insert eyebrows bouncing up and down a few times* Loaded fries were good... except they used thick, real slices of cut up bacon and ground beef... who am I kidding, these were fantastic. I think they would be even better on tots to kill that slimy texture from the grease and other delicious liquids that could seep into the fries. I had some problems at the drink station. Sprite was watered down, tea... unsweet and outside of the drink station they had the best seats marked for reserved tables like several hours ahead of time. This is my fifth time coming back to The Grease Monkey because they are just that awesome. I had their angry burger and red pepper burger and it was so delicious. The patty was so juicy and had a hint of spice to it. Their burger never disappoints. I gotta say ALL of their side items are top tier. Their handcut fries, sweet potato fries, tots, and everything else is crispy, hot, and seasoned just right. I am not sure if he was the kitchen manager or the owner, but this gentleman came over to our table after we received the order just to check on us. He noticed that my husband and I enjoy spicy food, so he brought over their housemade ghost pepper ketchup! Which was honstly such a bomb! We loved it. I've been visiting the Monkey for several years! It's a really fun venue with typically a great crowd. I love the outside,back to the street bar as you can watch cars and people in the neighborhood as you drink.I hadn't ordered enough food to really critique that area so i won't.I would like to see a little more diverse live music as I'm a fan of many genres and from inside the bar can be a little tough to access. I gotta kick Grease Monkey up a star. Over the years I'm still coming by, sometimes on a regular basis, and I've really come to like it as a regular, consistent haunt. Workers are friendly, beer selection is good with a few craft here and there, and liquor choices have always been good. The food has gotten better I think, and they're currently making a grilled reuben sandwich which is one of my favorite...obsessions. I still feel I came out on top. But you have to give them some sort of credit for creativity. I would give them five for ambiance and atmosphere. This is a cool place to meet friends for a drink, and some nights they have live music. So, I'd go back again and again on those factors alone. I wouldn't let the food deter me from a repeat. The burger buns are puffy and fluffy. They offer turkey burgers and veggie burgers which I really like. It took 31 minutes to get our food on a busy day. The biggest downside: it's definitely a local place and if you're new - you feel rushed and no one helps or explains to you how the place works. I hate feeling rushed when I need to order. There's multiple entrances, you don't get food where you get a beer, no hostess, no one to greet you, no one to really give any direction. If you're going to go, go with a local. read more

I've come to this restaurant twice before and this time it wasn't good, it was bland...the fries were burnt, and so were the mozzarella sticks that just tastes bad! Excellent burger. The meat is well seasoned and crisped on a flattop. The condiments are fresh. The bun has some sorry of honey jalapeno butter toated into it and the whole package is just wonderful. Such a great bar for a pre-Rangers or Cowboys game meal/drink. I am a HUGE wing person, and had some of the best BBQ wings here. I would highly suggest ordering the lemon-pepper wings, great for summer time and full of flavor. Their cheese and bacon fries are also fantastic. I chose this place after reading that it offers a shuttle to and from AT&T Stadium at the best price. Since the rodeo event was on Sunday at 2 PM, I contacted the restaurant to make sure, and promptly got a confirmation email. Another restaurant was only sure for Saturday events. My wife and I arrived at noon. I ordered the popular "Angry Burger". My wife ordered a grilled chicken salad. We also bought two shuttle tickets. The staff at the kitchen counter were very helpful and charming. They gave us a pager to notify us when the food was ready for us to pick up. The dining area was casual with a "sixties" atmosphere. There was a stage for live bands. The bar was already busy. A board displayed a list of bands, and which night they're scheduled to play. When I was younger, I was in several bands that performed in places like this. It felt familiar and comforting to me. The "Angry Burger" was spicy, tasty and satisfying. My wife liked it too. I think it was better than her chicken salad. Hey, it's a burger joint! By the way, nothing was greasy. The name has to do with car mechanics. After lunch, the shuttle was just outside. We went with a full load of passengers. There was a ten minute walk from the drop off point to the stadium. We left the event 15 minutes before the end, to avoid the huge crowd. The shuttle arrived in 10 minutes. The driver was very personable and helpful - like the kitchen staff. He told us that they add extra shuttles for bigger events. Instead of spending your money parking at the stadium, spend it here. You'll get much better value. read more
