You can tell the management is lacking. There was a manager by the name is Krissie who was telling customers to "get the f#ck out" and pushing patrons without cause. Incredibly unprofessional and rude. Really sad to see how a great evening can be ruined by the wrong kind of staff. A local favorite, The Pub, is a great place to come for lunch or dinner or on the weekend for drinks. The food is great and the waiters and bartenders are super friendly and do a great job. When it's warm out the outside seating is fantastic The Pub is right in the heart of Wayne and directly next to the Radnor stop on the Paoli-Thorndale train line. Two separate menus for the upstairs and downstairs? What?! The rooftop menu is an absolute joke. The fact that they can call it a menu should be a war crime. Paired with the fact that you cant even order anything from downstairs and have it brought upstairs. Who's brilliant idea was that?! This place has nothing going for it. This place gets a qualified "bleh!" I feel like it's not a totally fair bleh, since I ordered a vegetarian salad and didn't drink with my lunch. And clearly, beer and meaty things are GAP's strong points. They have some outdoor table rockers (like porch swings, but entire tables) that look like they'd be excellent places to have a beer on a nice day. But oh, my Greek salad was so terrible! It had chicken on top (Greek salads generally... do not), and was entirely iceberg lettuce, despite being advertised as romaine lettuce mixed with iceberg. This makes me sound really picky, I know. But the $9 spent on a salad could totally have bought me a delicious lunch at one of Wayne's decent sandwich places. And this makes me a sad, picky person. :( read more

True to some of the other reviews, this place needs a desperate kick in the ass. For starters, it IS freezing in there. I didn't take off my jacket the entire time. Two - Way effing overpriced. C'mon people - it's bar food!?! 2 burgers and mozzarella sticks should never cost you $50. Three. Service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress was a sloppy, lazy mess, we were the only table in there and it was 3:30pm on a Friday. Now, I'm in no place to judge, but for heaven's sake at least take OFF your makeup from last night. Half the things we ordered, side of ranch, side of mayo etc., never made it to the table. Thirst was a big issue that day, I remember as my water was empty 70 percent of the time. When she brought out our dinner to us and hubby's coke was empty, she said, "Do you want another one of these?" Hmmm, would that be weird? "No sorry, you'll ruin my attempts to choke myself during feasting time." YES, biatch refill that shit! E. Not to mention, we sat inconveniently next to the waitress station and got an earful of all gossip going on there as night shift rolled in. And how someone's kid was getting new cheerleading bags, maybe? I can't be sure but all I know is if I heard the words, "sequin" "cheetah" or "like, omg, soooo cute" one more time I may have rah-rahed someone's face into the napkin pile. 27.) Our friends drivers license was confiscated after it was "proved" to be fake, we are all 22. No option was given to us to speak to a manager and we were told the whole table could not be severed alcohol. We ended up accepting this, and just tried to order food. Let's face it. Living in the burbs definitely has some shortcomings. Probably the greatest of these is a dearth of decent restaurants to grab a quick good meal. The Great American Bar and Grill (the Wayne edition of this local chain) is a prime example. If it were 1985 and the Cheers rage were in high swing, this would probably be the place to head for a night out of food and drink. Thankfully 1985 is long gone. But those wishing to relive what passed for good times back then need only head to The Great American Bar and Grill. The food is as tired as the decor. The menu is extensive and runs from typical pub food to Italian-Pizzeria, Asian, Steakhouse, a hint of Mexican and sandwich shop; which might explain why nothing comes out all that tasty. While the draft selections are better than Coors, Miller and Bud, they are none the less fairly generic and bland. The two bright spots of the Great American Bar and Grill are their Happy Hour specials ($4 well drinks, $3 imports) and outdoor seating for lovely summer afternoons and nights. read more

This place is a perfect place to grab some better than average bar food for a great price. The food won't blow you out of the water but i've never had a bad dish there, very simple and basic food but the quality is always good. Really like sitting outside in the summer. Best bar food on the main line. As far as nightlife this is generally the most fun spot to go if your going out in Wayne at night, never too packed but you'll never be drinking alone. I'm not sure why this place has so many bad reviews. I am giving it 5 starts in hopes of raising their average a bit, although it probably deserves 4! There is a major lack of outdoor seating places on the main line, which is what brought my friends and I to the pub in Wayne. The outdoor deck area is very nice and much better than other close by spots. I like how its on the corner but its not too busy of an intersection, unlike some places right on Lancaster and not as isolated as say Gulliftys. The food is pretty good but not record breaking. Everything we ordered was tasty. However, the burger did not come with fries or chips which was a little disappointing. The beers and drinks were tasty but a bit pricey. The service was OKAY, a bit slow, but they were busy, and we didn't mind because we like to chat. I will be back! This is a good staple. read more

I stopped at the Great American Pub in Wayne with my partners after reffing a lacrosse game at a college nearby. The bar is nice inside and there are plenty of TV's. There is a good amount of seating at both the bar and in the restaurant area. We only drank, so I can't comment on the food. They have a good selection of beers on tap and the prices are reasonable. There isn't much parking and the meter attendants seemed like jerks, nailing people with tickets at 5:50pm on a Saturday when the meters cut off at 6. All in all I wouldn't not go back, but I'd definitely go to the Great American Pub in Conshy before this one if given the option. read more

Not really a whole lot to say about this place. It's a good place to get a drink on a warm spring day or summer night, and the big awning over the patio makes it quite pleasant to sit and sip a beer and watch it rain. Problem is, the outdoor seating closes at 11. I'm not sure if that's a house rule or if it's a city regulation. I could easily see it being either, but until I'm certain it's the choice of the bar to close the outdoor seating at that time, I'm not going to hold it against them. The food here is decent, standard pub fare with a few twists. Nothing terribly memorable, but nothing that's very bad either. Don't be expecting a beer list coming close to Teresa's, but it's better than a lot of places. Nothing really exotic, though, just the import standards from the British Isles, Belgium and the Netherlands. Tonight was a terrible experience here. We sat outside and were not greeted for 25 minutes. A two top next to us got their drinks AND food before we even received our drinks and they sat 10 minutes after us. They were not busy at all (it was 9:30 when we sat). I've been here many times and enjoy it. We have had many work happy hours. It is a great spot for us - close to the office and right on the train to head back to the city for the rest of the night. The alcohol selection is good. They could use more happy hour specials. We havent had the best wait staff though. They could make so much more money from us if they actually came around every now and then asking if we wanted drinks outside. Ive had lunch and apps here too. Always a fun time at the Great American Pub in Wayne, Conshy(new rooftop bar- im in love), Malvern, or any of the other various locations! When I come here, I typically order a burger and fries-- in particular, the Cobb burger. It comes with a thick slice of gorgonzola cheese, bacon, and avocado! Last time I ate there, my server, Maeve, was so kind, considerate, and efficient. The staff is so friendly!!!The Pub is exactly what it is... Pub food. Don't expect a five star meal when you order the blacked chicken risotto, or the cod special. It's standard pub fare people! The beer list is extensive and the bartenders are always so helpful... *Basing my review on their new Plant Based Menu* As someone who is WFPB I was thrilled to see new plant based options. I work in town and order out for lunch several times a week. There are a few decent choices on the PB menu that I have really enjoyed:the pineapple quinoa bowl being my personal favorite, along with the falafel platter. Steer clear of anything with the "house made vegan mozzarella" in it---it is honestly the worst vegan cheese I've ever had. They would be much better off swapping the house made cheese for even daiya brand and the items with cheese would be 10000 times better and actually edible. I give them props for being one of the few restaurants with plant based offerings but think they are definitely hit or miss. read more

My husband and I went after a long day of work wearing what we wear to work out to eat. I wear scrubs, he wears a button down and dress pants. When I tell you everyone in this place gave us nasty looks and the host didn't even look at us as we walked in, it was the weirdest experience ever. I was in the area and picked the restaurant to meet a friend. I was pleasantly surprised, our server was friendly and attentive, drinks were re filled immediately and the food came out piping hot. I hesitated to order the lemon chicken dish because it was a pub but did so after asking my server if he had it and he said it was great. He was right, perfectly cooked chicken, nice lemon sauce and I added pasta to which the lemon sauce stuck nicely too. My friend had a Rueben that I tasted and it too was very good. It's a pub! How can you go wrong with a pub? Sure, it's no haute cuisine, but what are you gonna do? Hubby and I came here on a Saturday night and sat outside. Staff was really friendly and helpful when we asked for another table that was a little less dark. We had the cheese steak spring rolls. I thought it was a really creative way to mix two totally different dishes. Definitely nice as a snack. Then I ordered the meat lovers pizza, which was really tasty! All I'm thinking is they should serve it on a normal plate instead of a cake platform lol. This is the kind of place you go when you want old school Irish-American bar style drinks with a few surprises. Leather pinned booths, dark paneled walls, gold accents and bar taps, with smokey... ok, no smoke. But if you hit rewind to 15 years ago, this place would only need to add the smoke. The rest of the atmosphere I can't imagine looked too different. One thing that stood out was the food. It was actually pretty good here. Don't get me wrong, it's not of the same caliber of a Philadelphia top chef, but if you're looking for better-than-bar-food fodder, check this place out. The two female bartenders were in the back talking for over 10 minutes (I wish I was exaggerating but I watched my clock) and we were out of drinks for longer. They walked by us several times and saw our drinks empty and didn't ask if we would like another. Two people sat at the bar and they didn't even notice because they were in the back. I especially appreciate the GAP during this pandemic restricted-options period. The Pub has spacious outdoor dining options with appropriate distancing, the wait-staff is cheerful and prompt and appropriately shielded (our waitress had a cute bandana), and the food is good and reasonably priced. I had the Palm Beach salad (shrimp, crab, avocado) and it was very good. My companion had the brisket and enjoyed it. During the pandemic they can't put fruit in your drinks for some reason (no lime in the gin and tonic, no twist in the vodka), but I think that's true everywhere. If you want to get out of the house safely and enjoy some of the old pleasures of life in Wayne, this is a place to do it. read more

Just had the most amazing meal at the pub!! My boyfriend got the short rib quesadilla and I had the cheese tortellini. Both dishes were great I would recommend them.
