50's diners are my jam! I can't help but get nostalgic whenever I come across one (even though I'm 35)! The last time my wife and I were at The Great Grill, we were just starting to date (so it's been a while!). We came for breakfast and sat inside, but they also have a patio out front if you want some fresh air. My better half ordered the Eggs Benedict while I had the bacon Breakfast Burrito. The servers were friendly and attentive, always checking in on us to see if we needed anything. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was good old fashioned diner greatness! There's a jukebox with a great selection of old gold - you can pick 3 songs to play for a quarter! There are two clean single person restrooms for ladies and gentlemen in the back. If you're in Burbank and want someplace fun that's slightly off the beaten path from the main downtown hub of activity, give The Great Grill a shot! Victor was a sweet server and very nice. The owner was talking very loudly to some customers visiting from various African countries from different Embassy's which was over the top. I think he was excited to see foreign visitors and tourists but it came across as weird and they ran outside to sit. My omelette was supposed to have chili on top but it barely had much and instead had a ton of tomatoes inside the omelette. I wasn't too impressed. Came here with a diner loving friend. We both love our rock and roll and the 50s aesthetic, so this place was calling our names. Really cute decor everywhere, from the mini jukeboxes at the tables to the ginormous records on the ceiling. We were sat at a booth near the front, which was a nice spot. Our server was friendly and we ordered pretty quickly. I had the veggie breakfast burrito, and she had a waffle with strawberries. My friend was looking for a well-cooked waffle and it got 5 stars from her. My breakfast burrito on the other hand was a big whomp whomp for me. Nope. 2 star burrito, if that. Potatoes inside were too moist and soft, and then more of those potatoes were served on the side. Ick. They need to be crispier and with more seasoning. Also the veggies inside were barely cooked, so they were still kind of crunchy, so the textures were all over the place. It had no flavor either. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it, which isn't normal for me. I'm usually like a vacuum when the food is good. I think if I had ordered some standard breakfast fare like pancakes, eggs, and sausage, it probably would have been fine. But in the vegetarian department, I'd look elsewhere. I was in the area and searched up breakfast spots, and just recently this restaurant got rated best breakfast in Burbank so i gave it a shot and im too stunned to speak, it was amazing, I got their pancakes and tried the omelette and it was so flavorful. I also tried their coffee and honestly the coffee was great as well! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants good food and ambience. The service was excellent especially Aram! This places decor was based on 50's and not too many restaurants have that style anymore so that was nice! read more

We were on a quick family trip looking for breakfast and saw The Great Grill (Back to the 50s). Walked in and were greeted immediately and given a table (for 6). Cute place with a 50s vibe. A nice diner experience. I remember why I had eaten here before! Same guy running the front as last time. Seat yourself, he will be right there. 50's Christmas music playing in the background, clean establishment. Coffee and water came out right away, took my order of ham and eggs. Quite a few regular customers that are known by name, I love that. Food came out quickly, bone in ham probably a half inch thick. Enjoyed the experience. Visited the great grill on Sunday in Burbank great prices good food nothing fancy old school 1950s vibe . vinyl records on the ceiling jute box in the center of the restaurant the little things on the table where you can put money in and choose song for the jukebox. daily specials affordable they even have a senior menu 55 and up Great service reminds you of just an old hometown restaurant that's been there for years. only reason why I'm not giving them five stars is two reasons.... I'm very picky about the bathrooms in restaurants. even though the bathroom was decorated nice kept with the old-school feel with the vinyl 45s on the wall etc. Had a weird smell in there. #2also they have raised everything on the menu up $2dollars which is not a big deal and I completely understand that ....... their prices are still more reasonable than most restaurant in the area. The thing is is that the server was telling everyone after they ordered their food about the price increase. It would be better service tell the people before ordering that everything is $2dollars more and take the time to change those prices on the menu or take the time to write it or tape it on the menu or they have a chalkboard outside with the specials write it out there but it comes off a little deceitful to tell people after they have ordered, by the way ......everything is $2 dollars more . other than that if you just want a good decent breakfast without all the frills this is a good place. Our meal was good. Like home and you can have a bloody Mary , a screwdriver or a beer while you're there so there's that. read more

Visiting from Arizona with my family, and we absolutely loved this place! The food was amazing breakfast was delicious, and I tried a bite of my kid's mushroom burger, which was outstanding. The customer service was great. We never ran out of drinks, and even though it was busy, the staff kept checking in on us. The first issue came when my matcha was made hot instead of iced and had to be remade. Even after the remake, it tasted like straight matcha powder and wasn't well mixed. The banana bread was served cold and wasn't warmed up, which was disappointing. What stood out most, though, was the cleanliness. As I walked into the shop around 7:30 a.m., the outdoor trash area was already overflowing. Inside, there was a trash can right next to the pickup counter that smelled bad and had visible stains all over it. For being so early in the morning, I was surprised that the trash hadn't been emptied or the area cleaned before opening. The salted cold brew cloud was decent, but overall the drinks, food, and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Hoping this was just an off morning, but based on this visit, I wouldn't rush back.

I had passed by this restaurant before but had never been curious enough to actually stop in. This time their drink menu advertised outside caught my attention so I figured "hey, why not?" From the moment I walked in i was trying to figure out whether I liked the atmosphere or not. The music was excellent, but the décor took me a second to process. It felt like an 80s lounge crashed into a neon Día de los Muertos inspired art gallery. It's most definitely not a quiet, cozy restaurant. It has more of a loud, colorful, party style personality. I was seated promptly by a kind hostess but I wasn't attended to by a waiter for nearly 10 minutes. Once my waiter did come by he was kind, quick, and professional. Now, I'm going to be honest.. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Mexican restaurant food, so I didn't have the highest expectations. I ordered the potato taquitos, a Jarrito Loco made with watermelon purée, vodka instead of tequila, and chamoy on the rim, plus chiles toreados and one carne asada taco. Laugh all you want, but I was half expecting the food to come out looking like a cafeteria lady had splattered it onto a plate... I was genuinely impressed by the presentation instead. The potato "taquitos" were bigger than I expected so don't let the "itos" fool you. They were crispy, flavorful, filling, and honestly so delicious. Those get a 5/5 from me. My drink was also incredible. It was refreshing, especially with how hot the day was, and had just the right amount of alcohol. The presentation was so cute I almost felt bad ruining it. Easily one of the best drinks I've had in the Burbank area -- 5/5. The carne asada taco wasn't as impressive as the potato taquitos, so I'd give that a 3/5. There shouldn't have been any reason for such an experience. We ordered probably $180+ worth of food and drinks. And after the long wait for the drinks and chips and salsa, I told the other server and what im assuming is the manager(?) "You know, im just going to cancel my order" They were talking among eachother, and I told them "we are leaving because of the server" . They tried to remedy it by saying that a certain other server can take over the table instead of him. I just couldnt stay there any longer. The place was insanely empty and there shouldnt have been no reason to not be attended to properly. Probably 40 minutes in total and we only received our waters to the table.

My wife ordered a Gummy Bear Shot that was tart and sweet and very enjoyable. On the food side, the menu is filled with the greatest hits of casual, sports bar foods, but all kicked up several notches and more interesting than the usual. My wife ordered the Truffle Burger, replete with onions and mushrooms and cheese. The trappings were all very tasty, and the burger itself was packed with flavor, and came cooked to a very proper medium rare. The side of lemon-pepper fries were hand cut and crispy, though the citrusy tang wasn't my thing. A tad less successful was my Pastrami Sandwich. The meat, listed as house-made, had good flavor but was tough. The kale slaw with it also had good flavor, and the slight bitterness was a nice foil for the rich pastrami. Onion rings were excellent, and (regardless of the lemon-pepper) the better bet as a side. All in all, this is a great, comfy place with a good menu and a really welcoming staff. I'd go back in a heartbeat to try the wings and pizza, both of which looked excellent when delivered to neighboring tables.
