With outstanding recommendations and an hour to kill for lunch during a work training, I ventured to The Green Olive and so glad I did! Despite its unassuming location (in a little strip mall) and lack of parking (due to surrounding businesses), I found myself pleasantly surprised by this little gem. Upon entering, I noticed the long line to order, which is always a good sign of delicious eats. It's the order at the register and come pick up your food kind of place, and seems to function well as such. The menu is vast, offering everything from gyro plates filled with rice, meat and veggies, to stuffed pitas and fresh salads. Their side options include fries, a variety of other meats, rice, falafel and more, which all made my mouth water!  The cashier was friendly, offered good recommendations and has everything down to a well-oiled machine. Although our interaction was brief, it was pleasant. Don't forget to check in on Yelp to receive a free 16oz soft drink! I opted for the Greek Salad with gyro (lamb) meat on top, with a side of the falafel, which was ready for pick up about 7 minutes later! While the interior seemed a bit grungy, with unwiped tables and crumbs on the floor, but the nice little patio out front, featured the perfect amount of tables - one of which I snagged in the shade! Now, I'll admit a fan of Mediterranean food and this place nailed it. My small salad came out the size of a dinner plate, loaded to the brim with fresh ingredients (cucumber, olives, feta cheese, onions, tomatoes), piled high with fresh gyro meat, two HUGE falafel balls and an in house made pita (which was the size of my head) along with 3 dipping sauces! My dish was ready for pick up in under 10 minutes, was well prepared and absolutely delicious! Like woah. The meat was tender, piping hot and perfectly shaved, paring nicely with the crisp lettuce. The falafel (larger than a golf ball) proved to be a tasty addition to the plate with the house made dipping sauces! Seriously yum!! With portions this large, I was surprised when paying, as my grand total came to just under $12, which is insane. I left with a full belly and plenty of leftovers! When back in Carson for work, I'll gladly indulge again! YUM! read more

Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because their beverage machine that dispensed unsweetened tea was out of order... when i picked another beverage, water came out.. .. I'm not into carbonated drinks so the soda machine was definitely not for me. Would have been a cherry on top to wash my food down with unsweetened iced tea instead of having zero beverage... maybe next time though. Don't be discouraged by the appearance of this place ...The place, when ya enter, can be a bit deceiving. It really doesn't look like much... restaurant furniture kind of looks like something that came out of an L.A.U.S.D. classroom in the 80s, but it's functional and CLEAN to say the least. Now the food, oh man the food!!! FOOD: ordered the shrimp and salmon plate. SHRIMP PLATE: included 2 skewers with a ton of rice, salad, and hummus. SALMON PLATE: included 2 skewers (with good, tasty, large chunks of salmon and veggies which included; green bell pepper, purple onion, zucchini, yellow squash), rice, salad, and hummus. As one of those holes in the wall in a non-descript location, this was an essential. Plenty of staff. When I walked in, one guy was eating in peace, and the tables, counters, and grill was clean. I was thinking I missed the lunch rush, but now also that they closed after lunch. Nope, just a lull. After I ordered, 10 more folk filed in. And employees came out of hiding: to help orders, help cook, keep clean, etc. The options are sufficient. I think there were plates up to #15; I can't be sure. But from those who wanna eat a little, to those who want to eat a lot, they've got you. From chicken to fish to beef combos, to veggie (why?), they've got you. The food is good. Yum! Man, this place is Jank City. One of the few places I've been to that does not honor their own rewards program. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth... and I'm not just talking about food. If you're gonna have a rewards program honor it, and even if you decide to transition out of it, honor it for the customers who have been accumulating their rewards. Decided to give this place a try since I was craving some chicken kabobs. Had never heard of this place until I saw it on Yelp and decided to order via grub hub. Food was delivered fairly quickly and over all I have to say it did not disappoint. The prices seemed fair given the size of the plate and everything it came with. Ordered the chicken kabob plate and one combo that included the "spicy" potatoes. The chicken was flavorful and not dry. The humus and pita bread was also very good. This place is a great go-to spot for food that is consistently good. I order individually but have also ordered the party platters for office events. I'm going to review both. First, the party platters. It was simple to order and only needed a few days lead time. We got rice, salad, kebabs, and several varieties of meat to go with the pitas. The only change I would have made was asking for more salad dressing as it wasn't quite enough for the entire pan of salad. 17 people ate the food and no one complained-- a rare occurrence when doing something at work! Ok, now for my individual experience. I normally order either a large Greek salad with extra feta and extra dressing or the falafel plate. Both items are top notch. The large salad is too big for me to finish (I can eat a lot!) so I get the smaller size. The falafel plate comes with 5 falafel, a side salad, 2 pita, and some pickled veggies. If I eat all of the plate I feel stuffed! Again, both items are delicious and are consistent in quality. Portions are good sized as well. I don't leave hungry! There is indoor seating and limited outdoor seating. Parking is a nightmare during the lunch rush but not an issue outside of that time slot. The portion size was large and worth the price. I felt there was something missing, a bit bland from what I am used to but please don't get that confused with bland food. The best grape leaf wraps I've had thus far. They were so moist and full of flavor. My vegetarian platter came with hummus, falafel, grape leaf and green salad. As a vegetarian, I really dislike salads but this one was mixed with rice I think so the flavor wasn't bland and the best part is that you don't need dressing for it.
