I've been here before but I didn't do a great job at building my own bowl. But this time, I tried the Mac Daddy Bowl (without onions) and it was fantastic. It definitely has become my new hyper-fixation meal. It's expensive but it's one of the very few healthy options in the area. Such a sweet little place with tasty menu options, but some growing pains still need to get ironed out on their way to inevitable greatness. What we thought would be a quick lunch in town turned into a very long adventure. BIG BIG bonus points for using compostable or recyclable containers and utensils!! We went on a Saturday afternoon (~12:45pm) for lunch and were surprised to be one of two couples in the place (but also secretly pleased - shorter lines means faster food, right??). After a quick look at the menu and specials we placed our order at the register and then headed to our wee table near the back. The order (the day's rice bowl special) took SIGNIFICANTLY longer than expected - we're talking like...20-25min for what was essentially a bowl fried rice. The wait was awkward since my husband's order was the buffalo chicken wrap which was pre-made and chilling in the refrigerated case near the register (he's such a sweetums and waited patiently so that we could eat together) but gave us time to check out their "Heat-and-Eat" options in the freezer. Options on Saturday included lasagna, meatloaf with sauce, enchilada casserole, shepherds pie, jambalaya (I'll take one of everything please!) which ranged in price from $16 for an individual serving (think tiny bread tin) to $39 family serving (about an 8x6 tin). When the rice bowl arrived it was piping hot and topped with roasted chickpeas. My husband asked the server "I think my wrap was supposed to come with a side, can I grab one of those?" and she noted that they were "out of everything" (on a Saturday at lunch time?) and did not offer a free beverage/snack/discount/coupon, which I thought was kind of a bummer. The rice bowl was delicious but also felt like it was missing "something" or was just a massive portion of a side; didn't reheat very well (which is weird....because it's rice). The blueberry chia pudding I snagged as a healthy-ish treat was bland but I chalked this up to blueberries being a generally pretty flat taste; did like the hints of cinnamon I was picking up though! Will I be back? For heat-and-eat: yes. For a "grab-and-go" lunch: not likely in the *near* future, or at least I might just pop in and see what's readily available in the cooler. I'm still holding out hope that this healthy eatery builds itself up to being a village MUST! read more

Tried this place with my friends as I am GF and so are they. We each had something different. I got a chicken burger. While the food was ok, it had way too many other "bits" within the patty. Just way too much texture! The broccoli "salad" was ok also, just not really a salad in my mind. I don't think the place is bad, just not to my taste. read more

It is so refreshing to go out to lunch and not have to worry about what you are eating. What a delicious menu. I tried a Bunless salmon Burger topped with cucumber dill sauce with a side of cauliflower potato salad it was very good. I also ordered a bowl with zucchini noodles roasted brussel sprouts, artichoke, feta, with an egg that had the most delicious sauce for tomorrow and I ate half of it today it was so good, I couldn't stop. read more

Side note: I did not dine in, I ordered take out (during the coronavirus outbreak). I commend the owner who stayed open and pushed through this difficult time to provide food for her customers, very much appreciated. I do have to say that The Green Plate is a cute little restaurant. It radiates a cozy vibe when you walk into the building. Aside from that, this review is based solely on the food. I really wanted to like the food, I really tried. It is definitely quality food...for the right person. I'm clearly not healthy enough for this place. I suppose I lack the palette for the taste and textures of the menu items. I got the chicken salad wrap and was immediately disappointed when I saw on the package there are walnuts in it. I'm not allergic but I hate most nuts. It was a bummer for walnuts to be in the wrap and not specified on the menu (at least the menu I saw online). The wrap was a spinach wrap, I wasn't aware of that when ordering. It would have been nice to have an option of a white wrap (but then I guess that goes against the "healthiness" of the wrap). The chicken was waaaay too salty as well. I ordered the "potato" salad as my side of choice. The quotations around the word potato made me assume potato was substituted for something else. (Can I say potato ONE more time?!) It ended up being cauliflower which I'm a huge fan of in general but like I said, I just could not deal with the taste and textures. There was too much going on for me and I was just confused. All in all, this place just isn't for me. I'm really glad I tried it and appreciate all the unique things that were offered but I won't be back. This place has açaí bowls which are good don't get me wrong but you pay around 11 dollars for a bowl smaller than your hand, with no fresh fruit as toppings...it's summer cmon! You can go to places like nu cafe for the same price but receive way bigger and are getting your money's worth. read more

First I must say the owner was SO NICE!! Unfortunately my friends and I did not love the salads we got. The poppyseed dressing was so incredibly sweet and the portions of fruit were minimal. The chicken on top was good, but overall such an expensive place! We went thinking about getting sandwiches and food to take home from the freezer to make at home, but even with locally sourced, fresh ingredients could not justify the price.
