Came in on a Tuesday afternoon (1-21-2020) and since last time I've been in there the place has gotten a face lift! Seating is a little bit to close for someone with claustrophobia. I had such a great experience this time around and I'm glad I gave this place a second shot! Service/Ambience: Our server was nice and she was very helpful on recommending items on the menu! She made sure to come check up on our table plenty of times! :) The ambience in this place is very relaxing the establishment plays a very nice music station over the speakers. Also the establishment very clean and well maintained! Food: Ordered a BLT, nothing too complicated my bacon was crispy just how I like it and the bread had a good mayo/bread ratio. The coffee was great! Also order a half order of biscuits and gravy, the gravy wasn't my favorite (is there such a thing as sweet gravy?) but the biscuit was nice and fluffy, very delicious! What a great find. Thanks Yelp! This place is downtown Eureka so there is plenty of parking. There is also plenty of seating inside. We were greeted by a wonderful smile from a lady whom we later found out was the owner who also doubles as our server. She was super friendly and we chatted a bit about the history of the paintings of Marilyn Monroe hanging. The food was very good and the portion was plentiful. Stumbled upon this little gem when my bff and I were looking for open restaurants on a Monday. The ambiance is very warm & welcoming and our server was very friendly. I had the chicken caesar wrap w/tomatoes and cucumber and a side of tomato basil soup, bff had the Backwoods Benny. These were the most perfectly poached eggs I've ever seen!! For those of you who love, and I mean LOVE Eggs Benedict, this is the place for you. Places like this make all other places who serve Eggs Benedict a disappointment. Hollandaise made from scratch and eggs cooked to perfection. Our waitress was very sweet and we loved the ambience as well. I ordered the Backwood Benny which is the most perfect combination of flavors that has ever been dreamed up. The gravy is is smoky and bacon-y, the chicken strips done to a crispy yet still moist delight, and the eggs perfectly poached. I naïvely asked for ketchup and hot sauce and immediately felt I had insulted the chef because the potatoes were insanely flavorful on their own. The service was quick and friendly. When you first walk up to it you think all this want to be a cute little hole in the wall. My gosh I was stunned. The food is so so good everything is fresh the wait staff are nice the restaurants clean the bathrooms are clean and the prices are really good for the amount you get. She suggested half order of b&g and half order of something else. So half order of b&g and half order of crab cake benedict. BACON gravy on b&g instead of sausage gravy. SACRILEGE! And soooo yummy. I was going to order side of bacon with b&g. Glad I didn't, there was so much bacon in the gravy. So glad she recommended getting half order of each, While the b&g was very very good, the crab cake benny was GREAT! Gluten free (not important for me, but some might be looking for this option) breading but not too much and not too little, big chunks of real and seems to me fresh crab. Not just body chunks but could see the long red parts that come from legs and pincers. Nice little cafe in what appears to be the downtown/ waterfront area of eureka. The staff was also friendly and attentive. I ordered one of their brunch specials ( the heirloom eggs Benedict). The egg was cooked well and the heirloom tomatoes provided a nice balance for the smoky chipotle hollandaise sauce. 9/10! read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Nice atmosphere and stylings - although the tinsel 4th of July decorations were still up a week later. Service was prompt and nice without being overtly cheery. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich, one of my favorite treats, on wheat bread, fries, and an iced tea. The sandwich came on white bread, no biggie. My problem was the consistency and taste of the chicken salad inside. The fillings just fell out of the bread and had no cohesion - if the goal was to avoid mayo there are other ingredients to create that expected chicken salad texture. To top it off, I only tasted onions and bland chicken. Quite disappointing. I would try something else and did not complain for a switch while dining due to a tight schedule. Seats outdoors are spread out adequately, and servers are wearing proper PPE. As it wasn't the weekend, they did not have their special lemon poppy waffle, so I opted for the french toast. Unfortunately, it was quite lackluster. You have 4 small cross sections of french toast, dipped in a vanilla egg mixture, and that's literally it. No powdered sugar, no fruits, no preserves. It looked and tasted boring. My wife had the backwood benedict, which is essentially an eggs benedict with a fried chicken tender as the meat instead of say lox or ham. It was actually pretty good, though the english muffins were toasted to oblivion and burnt. Our server was the one redeeming thing about the restaurant. He was efficient, attentive, quick, and polite. read more

This place is wildly inconsistent. Last time our potatoes were raw inside so we asked for extra crispy, today they were unseasoned, cold and burnt on one side. That's not an improvement Hot, dripping water glasses delivered to the table for our mimosas. Food completely cold, omelet cheese wasn't even melted. Asked for more gravy thinking it would help but that was lukewarm, too. Never got the toast. We were never asked how anything was. Guess we won't be back again. read more

I treated myself to brunch last week. I had the french toast and it was perfect. It was made from a baked bread loaf (thick slices) so it wasn't soggy. Two servers were waiting on customers located inside and outside. It was very busy. I was so impressed with my server. As a single diner, it can be easy to be overlooked, but she was on it! The service was wonderful, friendly and when asked how our meal was, unfortunately she could see our eggs... so we were honest that our food was prepared carelessly, She took 25% off our meal. I took a party of 7 to brunch for mothers day on 5/9/21. We got there at 12. It took a half hour for us to get silverware and drinks. It took another hour to get our food. One person ordered Eggs Benedict. The sauce was disgusting. No flavor whatsoever. It tasted like what I would imagine slug juice would taste like. 2 people had to re-order because they were out of whatever we had originally ordered. Nothing had flavor. No salt or pepper.. Everyones food was cold We watched as one waitress tried to give another family the checks. BEFORE they got thier food. The gravy here is extremely bland. Usually biscuits and gravy come w a gravy that has been well seasoned with a good amount of black pepper. You shouldn't have to add seasoning to your food when you get it. This is great for older people who have high blood pressure and are steering away from salt as this place doesn't use any. VEGAN review: Not many options on the menu, but what they have is yummy. We ordered the veggie wrap with a side of breakfast potatoes. The wrap was small, but solid form. It wasn't juicy or leaking so I really appreciate that. I wish it had more hummus, but that might be better on the side so it's not messy. The potatoes were fantastic and was great with ketchup. My hubby got the potatoes with avocado. The thing I loved the most is they had almond milk so I could still enjoy coffee. I rarely get coffee at restaurants because I need it with creamer and most places don't have a vegan option. The server also guessed by how we were ordering that we are vegan and suggested the breakfast potatoes with grilled veggies. Thank you! We will be getting that next time.
