We found The Greenery Cafe by zooming in really closely in the area we had ended up in and looking for yummy sounding places. We needed a real meal before going to the falls not too far from here. I ordered a sandwich and my partner ordered a wrap, both came with chips. MAN WERE THEY DELICIOUS! Idk what the chips were made of but I'm still thinking about them. Our meals were yummy in addition to the chips. It was pretty reasonably priced and the backyard (where you eat) is super great, loaded with plants and little lizards that are so cute! I really, really, really, really, really like this place. And I've only been once. Earlier today, it occurred to me that I had not eaten a single vegetable in over three days. THREE. Wanting to break free from the vicious cycle of sugar and white flour, I decided to stop by The Greenery on my lunch break. While I waited for my hummus salad, I walked around the patio and even snapped a few photos. Quaint, breezy, adorable space. Dane and the girl who brought out my food were super chill and welcoming. As for the salad, every component of it was fresh and bright. The ginger-lemon dressing is such a welcome change from the usual balsamic vinaigrette ho-humness. We stopped here on our way back to our hotel and discovered a lovely couple running this small cafe. Their attitude was enough to make us stay but the food was enough to have us come back. During our stay in Kauai my friend and I were unable to find good quality healthy cuisine. The hubby chose this lunch spot because it was close to the location of our helicopter tour. At first, I thought it was just a residential house, but was thrilled to see a sign for the restaurant. The words "soul food" had me thinking it was more soul food from the south (i.e. fried chicken, collard greens, etc.). Little did I know, this was more "good for your soul (and body)" food. We parked in the back on some spot of the lawn and made our way towards the back of the house. I ordered the Rosemary Chicken salad with a Lemongrass iced tea and he had the BBQ chicken wrap. The lady who took our order was really friendly, in a genuine kind of way. The food we had was so delicious! I'm not a salad person, but this was some good salad. It came with this amazing vinegarette dressing on the side and the greens were so fresh! His bbq chicken wrap was divine! Not sure what kind of tortilla it was, but it was sure tasty. And his came with a side of various chips (taro and sweet potato maybe?). The lemongrass iced tea was super refreshing! We both left this place feeling great. We were looking for lunch by the Lihue Airport and boy am I glad we found this little hidden gem. Owner Dayne is really welcoming and it feels almost like you're eating in a friend's backyard. The rosemary chicken wrap was delicious and light, and the sweet potatoes were unreal--not too sweet, light and decadent at the same time. The Thai basil mint iced tea is cold and refreshing. When they were preparing our food, we saw them walk out of the kitchen to their garden to pluck some fresh herbs! There are a lot of cute little lizards hanging out by the fences and bushes. I love this place. How stinkin' cute is a back house off the beaten path that sells healthy and fresh food? Really cute. I loved the menu, the people that work here are very nice, they use environmentally friendly food containers and utensils, their coffee is great! And the food is delicious.
