The beet dish with creme freshe and horseradish was actually really nice
    Linus L.

We left embarrassed expecting a two Michelin star experience and ended up extremely disappointed. The amuse bouches were interesting and had our hopes up and so was the beet dish at the beginning, but as our meal went on it went downhill. The protein dishes left no impression, they brought us an additional beef dish with eggplant/sesame seeds after we mentioned that things were subpar, their "signature dish", which was definitely better but still nowhere near where it should be. The ginger sorbet served on a piece of ice? Cool, but it just tasted like ginger. Bleh. The wine pairing was really nice and brought up the food. They had a nice French Grenache and a wonderful South African white. However, almost all of the food was bland and pretentious. The staff seemed confused and non-personable. We went to Lyle's earlier today and there was no comparison, what a waste of an amazing location and decor. Just shitty, safe boring food. Traditional and tired. Doesn't compare to Meadowood/Commis/Hardwood Arms/Ledbury. Bleh.

My sister's recent birthday gave me the perfect excuse to explore another of London's fine dining restaurant It's located in Mayfair, the most expensive property on the London Monopoly board and quite rightly so, housing some of the capital's most exclusive hotels, designer shops and restaurants. The Greenhouse is however tucked away in a quiet residential street, which is currently partly obscured by scaffolding I do like the fact that the restaurant is a bit recessed from the main street as the walkway into the restaurant is along a nicely lit walkway and your excitement is built up as you see diners in the restaurant through the large windows The atmosphere is fine dining in the decor and service, including a hand made individual sculptures on the tables. However, it is definitely not stiff or starchy and we had a great time joking with our waiters all evening as we enjoyed our meal There's a choice of a la carte, regular tasting menu and special tasting menu. As it's autumn, the special tasting menu concentrated on mushroom including truffle. Sis chose the special tasting menu, which would have been my choice too We had some canapes to munch on while making our choice, always a nice touch. A nice bowl of amuse bouche soup also arrived as an extra course before the menu began 1. Ceps, foie gras, praline Arrived as a surprise presentation - layered into a glass, there were hot and cold layers of umami-laden contrasting light layers of mushroom layers. Wonderful and probably my favourite dish of the evening 2. Shimeji, hand of Buddha, Mediterranean prawns, coriander Fininshed off at the table with a pour of deep seafood veloute, the sweet prawns stood up well against the earthier accompaniments 3. White truffle, fregola sarda, parmesan White truffle was the most expensive ingredient we had this meal and it was served with al dente fregola sarda, which is a toasted giant couscous. Sis and I were a little disappointed with our first taste of white truffle. We got more truffle flavour with other dishes 4. Girolles, turbot, Vin Jaune, Spinach I do like turbot, especially as it's not readily available to home cooks. This dish delivers this firm fish with classic partners and was a classic triumph 5. Black truffle, chicken, button mushrooms, conchiglioni The chicken breast was evenly cooked and moist - I suspect it was cooked sous vide. The chef has elevated the humble chicken to take its place among most illustrious ingredients and it wasn't embarrassed 6. Pomegranate, coconut, meringue A small bowl of nice palate cleanser before dessert 7. Black truffle, Manjari chocolate, Gianduja, Tonka bean I love the little 'mushrooms' on the plate, giving a nod to the special star ingredient of this tasting menu. Nice end to the meal We got some nice petit fours with the bill A nice venue to celebrate my sister's birthday

An old favourite that once had Gary Rhodes as its chef, but which has since given over his distinctive English cooking to an over-fussy French style. Worse, the decor has been recently gone 'bland international' and the comfortable carpet has been replaced with a dark wood floor, with the result that the noise level is altogether too high for comfortable conversation - which is essentially what one comes to this extremely expensive environment for. The cooking is still very competent of course, but we couldn't understand the soft-spoken French waitress as she attempted to describe the extraordinary amuse-bouches which might have been inspired by Heston Blumenthal, but the squid and mussels with a thai veloute sauce were delicious, as was the hare (so there was something British, even if it was just a small round piece in the manner of a tournedos.) There's a huge wine list which wins awards, but we opted for my favourite New Zealand pinot noir - Neudorf Moutere - which was beautiful, but a bit rich at £82 (it's £29 retail). Altogether not a wholly satisfactory day out when one's paying those sort of prices.

Me and my friend were here for pre-set lunch. The experience was really good. We went there on weekday so there was not a lot of people. I had snail for starter, my friend had collection of tomatos. We ordered pollock and pork for main. The dessert were ice cream and cherry. The restaurant had provided several free starters and dessert, the taste was rich and complex.

What a great meal my friends and I had at The Greenhouse. The setting is very serene and the staff is great, more about that later on in the review. The best option is to go with the tasting menu. There are two options. First you can go with the confirmed tasting menu and know what you will be eating, or you can roll the dice and go with the discovery menu. The catch is if one person at the table wants the discovery menu, the whole table will have to order the discovery menu. The kitchen will make substitutions on items for allergies or preferences. My cousin does not like pork, so for one of the dishes Chef Arnaud switch the iberico pork with lamb. The meal started with canapés of beef tartare and a tart that tasted like chips and guacamole. Both were delicious and perfect starters. The meal continues with bread service. This is where we all got very happy because there are so many options and the bread is so good. My go to was the chestnut puff pastry and the chorizo cheese roll, which I got seconds of. The first dish was crab underneath a mint jelly topped with a cauliflower purée. My friend was so excited to have this dish because it was her favorite from her last visit 2 years ago. There is rich crab flavor with a hint of mint and ginger. The small cubes of apples really brought needed sweetness to the dish. Unfortunately there were 2 small pieces of cartilage in my dish. Next was scallop marinated in yuzu topped with a tomato jelly and lemon grass. This was a very unique dish. The scallops were sweet and the jelly was tart. The added lemon grass gave it the needed crunch and texture to make the dish work. Next was my favorite of the night, which was lobster with a grapefruit coulis topped with a tarragon lobster vanilla foam. First off, the lobster was perfectly cooked. The foam was savory and descendant. This created the perfect mix of highs and lows on my pallets. The grapefruit added the tart to the savory and the slice of grapefruit broke apart with the fork like a piece of fish, that cooking technique was very impressive. Next were fried morels served up with fried country bread topped with a pork spread. The cook on the morels resembled meat. The fried bread...outstanding tasted like a churro, just awesome. Next up was a very unique dish. An egg yolk marinated in soy sauce, sitting within a potato emulsion, topped with black truffle. Given the fact that this was topped with 4 generous slices of black truffle, I just couldn't dig the dish. The texture was all soft and even though the yolk added richness, it was all too watery for me. This is where we got to know the staff and they made the dining experience so much fun. Our hostess led this dish off by saying that you are either going to love this dish or hate it. My wife and my best friend liked the dish. My best friend's fiancé and I did not. Then we got on to the topic of the twitter phenomenon, what color is the dress. Wouldn't you know that my wife and best friend saw the dress blue/black, and my best friend's fiancé and I saw the dress white/gold. I guess we have a different perspective on things. Then my best friend thought it would be a good idea to ask the staff what they thought and not all saw the same colors, so they got into it with each other. It was pretty funny and the they were good sports to play along. Next came the poached dover sole with yellow beet purée and red beet shoots. The dover was perfectly poached and the yellow purée was very tasty. The last savory dish was the iberico pork with onions, soy and cardamom. The cook was medium rare and the dish was very delicious. My second favorite dish of the night. The meal ended with a bevy of dessert dishes that were as tasty as they looked like works of art. After 4 hours we had a great time and had a true foodventure.

I think every American mother/daughter duo was checking this place out for lunch or high tea. Mom and I opted for the lunch experience in the room called "The Glade." 3 courses, for a very reasonable price. Something like 36 pounds if I remember correctly. We did this over the more pricey high tea, but that certainly looked like a good time as well. That dining room was gorgeous. The food was pretty good. Nothing that absolutely blew my socks off, except for the strawberry dessert. Everything was certainly well done, though. I mean, there's a restaurant with 3 Michelin stars upstairs - the food should be good! Would def return with new people that hadn't been before.

Those damn English scones were some of the best I've ever had - clotted cream and jam! Heavenly. Dinner in the Gallery was fun and delish as well. We started with the Korean tofu dumplings + beetroot carpaccio, both were light, perfectly seasoned and lovely starters. Mushroom arancini with carrot ginger coconut broth was well balanced and craveable. Cod brandade was delicious as well but a bit heavy, could only eat half. Pistachio chocolate peanut ganache was the perfect end to a lovely meal. It's a visual spectacle in the best way, and service was lovely as well. I wasn't sure if it could live up to the IG hype but it was fun and delicious!

The restaurant is gorgeous as well but what really makes the entire experience is the staff. From the host to the waitstaff, everyone was beyond lovely and kind. Special shout outs to Jacob from NY and Bella from Vancouver BC that were just the best. We started with the artichokes and radishes, both of which were lovely. We did the mushroom entree and the homemade tahini and pitas were to die for. Last but not least the sticky toffee soft serve was delish - I ate every single bite. We grabbed dinner reservations for 8:00 pm and were seated at a really cute booth by the kitchen pass area. I got the shiso spritz and my husband tried a couple of their mocktails which he enjoyed thoroughly. Foodwise, we got the crispy aubergine tops, sprouting broccoli, tropea onions, potatoes with creme fraiche and the mixed grill mushroom. The two standouts were the aubergine tops and the tropea onions where I was really ready to LICK THE PLATE. The onions with the ricotta were seasoned to perfection with just a bit of spice. The aubergine was breaded and fried to cronchy heaven and I could eat a bucket of these if they were presented to me. The potatoes were good but needed a touch more seasoning; and the broccoli was also a great dish but paled in comparison to the stars. The mixed mushroom main was good but not our favorite as the seasoning blend on them became a tad overwhelming for us as we ate. Dessert wise, we grabbed the miso caramel which was delicious. Service was super friendly and efficient. 10/10 you HAVE to try this place if you are in the area (or you know, trek out a bit if you're not :P) You will not regret this meal, trust me.

My starter, a classic duck terrine, kept the bar high: rich, expertly balanced, and beautifully presented. Then the meal truly took flight. The first main, the scallops, delivered a masterclass in flavor layering. Perfectly fresh and tender, they shimmered in a buttery sauce lifted by XO--comforting yet sophisticated, familiar yet inventive. A clear sign that Wild Honey takes its seafood seriously. But the dish that justified every whisper of Michelin-level praise was the venison. The cut itself was exceptional, but the execution was transcendent. Succulent texture, bold flavor, and a wild, almost ethereal depth--the contrast felt magical. Each bite was delicate yet powerful, like walking through an entire landscape of woodland aromas and game-forward richness in a single mouthful. Truly breathtaking. The signature custard sealed the evening with quiet elegance--silky, balanced, and deeply satisfying. A perfect finale to a Christmas night dinner we won't soon forget. Wild Honey delivered not just a meal, but a memory. Five stars, without hesitation.

It was perfectly cooked and came with a small cauliflower steak and frisée salad. There was nothing wrong with the sirloin steak, but as a British server in another restaurant once told me: an American should not order steak in a British restaurant. The cheese selection was excellent. Service was mostly fantastic but a letdown at the end. A server asked me I wanted port with the cheese. I said "yes." He put down a class, returned, and poured a glass of Taylor's 10. I remember thinking, this is okay but the 20 would have been nicer. When the bill arrived, I was charged for Taylor 20 instead of 10. It's only a few quid difference but the charge should be correct. I pointed this out to the server. He said he would check with the sommelier. When he returned he said I was served the Taylor 20. I had seen the bottle of 10-year with my own eyes but it seemed needless to argue. It was a disappointment after an otherwise excellent meal. Even if they thought I was wrong, they should have refunded the four or five pound difference off a check that was nearly 300 quid.

Thankfully, a friend tracked one down in Mayfair and we ended up at Gordon Ramsay's Heddon Street Kitchen. The restaurant was busy and trendy, with a lively vibe that still worked well for families, especially with their ice cream bar. Kids eat free on weekdays, which is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the service didn't quite match the energy of the room - our fries were forgotten, and our food took over 45 minutes to arrive, which even the staff acknowledged. What we tried: * Beef Wellington - Beautiful presentation, but it fell apart once we sliced into it. The beef itself wasn't as tender as we were hoping for, especially given the hype and the name on the door. * Tofu Poke Bowl - A rich aioli tied everything together nicely. The cucumbers added a refreshing crunch that kept it closer to the original poke concept. * Sea Bream - Generous portion size, but the fish was overcooked and turned out quite dry. * Kids' Mac and Cheese - Surprisingly excellent. It looked almost soupy at first glance, but the sauce was actually very creamy and cheesy, and the kids liked it enough to ask for seconds. * Kids' Meatball Pasta with Tomato Sauce - The pasta and sauce were solid, but the meatballs were dry, as if they'd been overcooked or left too long. The kids did get to enjoy the ice cream bar and loved being able to pick whatever their wild imaginations desired. Overall, with the long wait times, missed items, and some overcooked dishes, the experience fell short of what I'd expect from a Ramsay restaurant. I wanted to be blown away, especially by the Beef Wellington, but left feeling underwhelmed.
