In a town with not many food options, this was our favorite. The service was very nice, but not the fastest. My husband ordered a patty melt with onion rings (+2$) and I had a chicken gyro. The melt was good, but he wished there was more meat in it. My gyro was fresh and enjoyable. This is typical grill food. All the ingredients are probably the cheapest they could order from the distributor. Imagine going to a child's baseball game and ordering from the snack bar...that's what this food is like. Not worth the $60 we paid for a pasta, salad, and kids grilled cheese. For the it's a good spot. Service was friendly and attentive. The steak was cooked slightly more than what was asked. We asked for medium rare and it was cooked medium. The mashed potatoes accompanying the steak was freshly made. The salad was a hearty portion and mostly fresh, with a few browned edge that is pieces. Gerri was the sweetest ever we stop on our way home from Tahoe and I have to say this was the most economical place we went on the whole trip and the service and food was sooooo good !! Trying to find a place on our way home from Mammoth. We knew our choices were limited after we passed Bishop but we took our chances. Food was just ok. Nothing special but the service was not the best actually it wasn't even good. We were immediately seated as they were not busy. Staff was friendly but the food just came out slow and in spurts. We were a table of 6, 2 people got their food then 5 minutes later 3 more dishes then about 5 minutes later the last dish came out. We had to ask for a couple things twice. read more

I was in town for a few days because of the John Wayne Grit series. We decided to give this place a try because of the good Yelp reviews. Our waitress was great, but the food was not the best. I ordered the half-chicken grilled barbecue with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The mashed potatoes tasted like they had half a pound of butter. The vegetables were extremely overcooked, and the chicken breast was dry. I felt like I was choking. For the record, the chicken did not taste to be grilled. The chicken seemed to be boiled with brushed BBQ sauce on it. My son had spaghetti Bolognese, and the sauce was extremely watery. I have no intention of coming back to this restaurant. read more

We went in around 5:00 hoping to beat the rush. It was pretty empty when we went in with only a couple of other customers eating. Our server appeared to be the only server and kept walking away from us while we were trying to order, going to deliver someone else's food or run their payment. We had two small kids with us so when she asked what sides we wanted and we hesitated for even a second, she took off. One of the times I heard her mumble while she left that she hated customers who weren't ready to order. I almost got up and walked out. Too bad there aren't many places to eat in this tiny town. We came here on Sunday for the first time and will definitely be back. The service was great and staff were super friendly. All three of us enjoyed our meals and my son's fries were super crispy. I got the pesto pasta dish and it was delicious and definitely a large portion. I shared with my husband and still had enough to fill a to go box which I enjoyed for lunch the next day. Really glad we came here for dinner! Super friendly service and staff and greatly enjoyed the home cooking here. We ordered the pork chops which came with a tasty sauce over it. Probably the best tasting side of veggies for American diner food standards. The chicken avocado pita was also delicious and Bobby our waiter made a suggestion of adding balsamic vinegar and olive oil to it which greatly enhanced it. To end the meal, we decided to share a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie. Good but thought it was a bit too much glaze in it for my taste. We sat indoors on a Friday night. Quick service. Good tuna melt and split pea soup. The coleslaw was a bit too acidic and may have gone off. Shrimp in the spaghetti dish still had tails on making it harder to eat; the sauce was a touch bland. Good pork, mashed potatoes, and beans. Ok, ok this is my first double review. We went back to the grill again tonight. Bobby, Geri-Lynn and the entire staff are simply the nicest people you will ever meet. Our dinner tonight was the pork chops and the dust devil pasta. Whoever is back there in the kitchen CAN COOK! The 1in pork chops had a lovely crust yet were tender and perfect in the inside and again perfectly seasoned. The pan sauce was delicious. Both nights we had the mashed potatoes and the veggie mix and again so fresh, cooked perfect and balanced. The pasta comes in a chipotle cream sauce that is so smoky with the perfect hint of heat. A real winner. I will come back to Lone Pine again just to eat. And on a side note, Bobby remembered my husband mentioning that my birthday was in 2 weeks. I was treated to a beautiful song and a delicious piece of cheesecake with berries. I'm not saying that I cried but maybe I cried a little. Thank you to the entire staff at The Grill. read more

We came here last week after a long drive up to stay in Bishop. We saw this place on yelp and thought we should try it out. The ambience is really nice and the view of Mt. Whitney from the window is spectacular. The food however, is just decent. Our group order two burgers and a grilled cheese. We were disappointed with the burgers. Our server asked how we liked our burgers done and we told her medium rare. However the burgers came out well done. Not sure why they even ask. The burgers were just ok nothing great but not bad. They were not worth $15 dollars in my opinion. Our server was nice and friendly. She was very attentive to our request. Overall, a decent place to dine but there are so many other places in Lone Pine to try out. read more

Another trip to and from So CA, stopping for dinner at The Grill is a must. They never disappoint! A must try is the Quinoa Salad, if that is too healthy for you, have a burger with fries, delicious. Sometimes it's hard to tell how it's going to go down in the small towns. When I first walked in here I got a strange vibe. Like I was unwelcome. But it was just me. This place is all the way 5 stars. Why? People care a whole lot, that's why. The woman who owns the restaurant is working hard, right next to the main server. As far as I can tell they get along well. The food's all excellent. Seems to me they are really in deep as far as it relates to the success of the restaurant. They have invested in the community and the community has returned the investment. They seem to make most everything themselves. I had the half rack of ribs, really good. My kids had chicken and butter pasta, both good. My wife ended up with the Santa fe (roast beef with cheese and peppers) and it was great. They roast their own Turkey and roast beef. Considering the location (Lone Pine) and the level of dedication these folks have (lots of love, integrity and devotion) there is no way to give this place less than 5 stars! read more

Provender: this is a great place to get a pulled pork sandwich if you're in Lone Pine. The sandwich comes with one side. I opted to get the potato salad instead of the French fries and I was happy I did so. They also serve with you an abundant amount of pickles on the side. Prices: reasonable for the locale. The pulled pork sandwich will run you about $13. Parking: there's a good amount of parking in their dedicated lot. There's also street parking both in front of the building and behind. People: fun for all. Perks: the food here is great. I highly recommend it. It's also located adjacent to the Dow Hotel, so this is a great nearby option if you're staying there. One of the few places open in Lone Pine later in the evening. Our waitress wore a mask the whole time, but another gal was running around with her mask half off and it kinda freaked me out. I ordered the turkey melt, and it was too much bread for me (and this girl loves her bread) - It was described as grilled - but I think it was toasted in the oven - and that is just never as good as a flat top grilled cheese.
