Very sweet, lovely, caring people. Gave us a bucket to keep our umbrellas, invited us inside to order instead of waiting outside in cold, made us comfortable to sit on a table and take our time to order and delivered the food very quickly. This place has really good food, but due to the pandemic they were under staff. From the time the waitress had taken our order to when we finally got our food about 67 minutes had passed. The view was beautiful and the restaurant looks clean. The food was okay but omg was it Expensive! Not sure if it's because they saw that we weren't from town and they took advantage or what. My husband got an American Burger with coleslaw and a Dr Pepper , my son got Chicken strips (3 strips) with fries and an apple juice and I got the Grill sandwich with fries and a Dr Pepper, our total was 62$. On a recent trip to Death Valley we stationed ourselves in Lone Pine for the duration of our stay. There are very limited options in LP and we happened to just get into The Grill before it closed for the night! Phew! I am a sucker for homemade chili so I chose the Chili Burger. The chili was bland. The burger was overcooked (I asked for med rare). The fries were good but the ketchup was oddly sweet and not good. The service was very friendly and we felt bad that we got in just before closing so we ate in a jiffy and ordered a piece of pie to go. My friend said the pie wasn't good and the crust was salty. I would try this place again if I am in town but don't have your expectations high. read more

Yelp didn't steer us wrong on this one. The entire staff were welcoming, attentive, capable, and overall wonderful but Jeri, our server, was just spectacular. I had the best glass of iced tea I've had in years accompanied by a stellar burger with fresh made bun and possibly the best onion rings I've ever had. In a drive through tourist town restaurant I never expect much but this place blew me away. I wish it was in my neighborhood. Lastly, I saw some folks gave this place one star and I had to look for myself to see what kind of sociopath thought this place was deserving of only one star. Four out of five of them are complaints the restaurant doesn't serve sweet tea. How can a person, in good conscious potentially hurt someone's livelihood because they don't carry something? That's like getting mad at McDonald's for not serving Whoppers. Yelp should remove those four reviews and the reviewers should take a good, long look at their entitled super-Karen worldview. read more

This restaurant I've eaten at a few years before, but these new owners have made a pleasant experience. I didn't want a heavy meal, so I had their BBQ chicken salad dinner. Wow!! Here we are in LONE PINE, CA, very hungry on Friday late afternoon in January, 2021. We ordered the 1/2 BBQ chicken and a chicken breast. With them we ordered the flavored mashed potatoes and a wonderful mixed vegetables assortment. The salads were the best we have had in many years, too. I could make a meal on a large salad like that one...They also included bread(s) and butter(s.) We also grabbed a delicious homemade couple of slices of their chesecake... great... Very different with perhaps a caramel twist ? ? ? They delivered them to our upgraded Best Western (really nice) motel where we have stayed prior over the years. We could not believe the quality and class of the GRILL and their food. We are in our 70s and have eaten here before over the years. We will go back. So... We ordered a medium cooked stake, they brought a stake that was barely edible because of how little it was cooked. We also got one of the linguini pastas and it was cooked too much with no flavor and basically swam in oil. My daughter could not eat the pasta. The veggies (side) were stew in oil and it was not tasty at all. The fries were okay. We have been charged about $86 dollar. Now we are looking for another place to eat. Don't lose your money!!! This place was such a find! A nice hearty, hot meal as a perfect halfway point for our travels from Lake Tahoe to Los Angeles. Could honestly pick one meal and split it with a partner. The portion sizes match the prices perfectly. I'm glad I got a meal of my own though, because we have a long road ahead and don't expect to hit anywhere as nice or tasty as this for a while. The servers were fast and really hard working the whole night. If I made this trip again, I would totally stop and try something new! read more

Nevertheless, the staff battled through and fed us in a timely manner and all was good. The food here is nice quality, and this is a very good restaurant for such a small town. We ordered -Scampi Pasta: the portion was huge with tons of pasta,shrimp and garlic. Sounds good right, but shrimp was not peeled cleanly and not gutted. Pasta was so soggy and all broken apart! Garlic was overwhelming with taste of alcohol in the pasta, I could not finish half even though I was hungry. This is some crap pasta that totally ruined my pasta craving for me. -grill's salmon: salmon was basically soaked in oil and the vegetables were soggy and greasy. Very gross. -Veggie Wrap: might be the best dish of all night, but it's worse than subway's. -Cheesecake: the lady assured me it was to die for. Well... It's def not worth dying for. It was sloppy and It did not satisfy my craving. It was not sweet which was good but it's lacking richness or sourness even with their inch thick of sour cream. She drops off our food, two minutes later drops off the check, then comes back a few minutes later to see if I signed the for the bill yet. The Grill is one of my favorite restaurants - I am from LA and do have comparisons. Whenever I am in the area, I look forward to my visit here. I'm primarily vegetarian and love their salads, vegetable wrap, and sandwiches. The Salmon Cesar and Vegetable Wrap are my absolute favorites. The salad dressing is excellent, the salmon always perfect to the point. The veggie wrap has a variety of veggies with cheese and zu sometimes add salmon if I won't more protein after a long backpack. The atmosphere with friendly waiters is something that I always look forward to. I love to be here! read more

Decent place to fuel up your body during a long road trip. It was clean, friendly, and has a lot of seating. They sat us at a table near the bathroom. They have a single unisex toilet so for our entire meal we had a line of people standing next to us waiting to relieve themselves which was awkward. When I used the restroom I was amazed to see how huge the restroom is. They could easily convert it to two separate restrooms. Food was three star good. Had eggs, Canadian bacon, potatoes, and toast. All good except the potatoes were flavorless. Problem solved by dousing in hot sauce. 3 stars good meaning it's worth stopping at if you need a break from driving and want something to eat! read more

As we were road tripping up the 395, we stopped in Lone Pine for dinner. My best friend and I have fond memories of Lone Pine, from our time spent here when we climbed Mt Whitney a couple months back, that we didn't mind stopping in this small town. We got there 30 minutes before closing NYE, and the staff were more than welcoming! We ordered: - shrimp pasta - Caesar salad - 12/ sandwich 1/2 soup - cup of minestrone soup - cheesecake with berries Everything was delicious, and our waitress was great! The pasta was soooo good!
