The customer service went above and beyond for us as we talked the Manger Joe jo and he found out that we were going to a concert at MGM he asked if we had reservations for dinner. Turns out the restaurant group The Grill is affiliated with was right there. They made us the reservation for dinner for us. Strangest restaurant experience I've ever had. The service was so off that all four of us having lunch felt like we were on Punk'd. Pretty much every service misstep happened once we were sat. We were brought a bottle of water but no glassware. We had shared apps but were not brought share plates until the food was finished. We ordered a crudo that did not list cucumber on the menu, explicitly asked if there was cucumber prior to ordering due to a severe allergy and were told no, and the dish was dropped at the table with cucumber. One member of our party ordered a glass of wine when we ordered apps, 15 minutes later we were presented with a bottle of wine instead of a glass. The glass of wine finally got to the table by the end of our entrees. It was particularly odd because every other table on the patio appeared to be getting very attentive service, but our server was standing just inside the patio door on his phone most of our lunch. Another server ended up checking in on us and correcting some of his co-worker's errors. The manager that we spoke to after the meal was also very kind and transferred our tip to the server that actually helped us. Unfortunately, that doesn't entirely excuse 2 hours of not receiving a manager touch at the table or any manager awareness that we had to keep getting up from our table to find our server on his phone to ask for glasses, silverware, and plates. read more

The only thing I didn't like about this place is that the name was hidden, and you had to walk all the way to the back to locate the restaurant. THEIR Caramelized Onion Dip IS SOOOO GOOOD 5/5. I also used it to dip my fries lol. The potato chips was too salty for me but i guess it is to complement the dip? When your waiter loses your take home bag (and it was a very large bag) and the manager doesn't rectify the situation, ONE STAR! We were also sat at the worst table in the house surrounded by nothing pleasant (food drop area on one side with a long corridor to the bathrooms on another along side a utensil and tray station on the third side). And most of the wait staff SLAMMED the utensil drawer and SLAMMED their trays on the other trays. ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES EVER! the food was good not great. Even during the Covid pandemic we had a lovely experience dining at The Grill tonight. Our server was Ebony; she was fantastic. Courteous, prompt, and knowledgeable of their menu, I always appreciate when a server is able to advise on menu items. We started with the Three Cheese Crab dip, a generous portion with nice, large pieces of crostini, but at $17 I thought was a bit overpriced. We both ordered the petit filet and a twice baked potato to share. The entrees came out quickly, but not too quick, and were prepared perfectly. The twice baked potato was generous in size and was plenty for the two of us to share. My husband added a crab cake to his steak and he enjoyed said it was good. Our bill was $175, but it did include 20% gratuity and as well as a draft beer. A little higher than we would usually spend for a weeknight dinner, but with the beautiful setting at The Wharf and our fantastic server, we would gladly return. read more

Phenomenal restaurant in Wharf! That area has several great restaurants but I've been waiting for an American grill and there we go! You will be extremely impressed by the decor and design of the restaurant. It has a rose gold touch that that brings a luxurious atmosphere with a warm touch at the same time. And talkIng about warmth, as soon as you walk in toward the main hall, you'll see the fiery grill through the open kitchen. It was just amazing looking at the grill from the bar. We started with the crudités and lamb sticks for app. Veggies were fresh and crispy with a little sourness which was very refreshing. You get three different dips each of them excellent! My favorite was the blue cheese which was none like others. For the main course I had the halibut over risotto. Again, it was succulent. The halibut was perfectly cooked, very juicy and the risotto was savory and creamy. My friend had the ribeye so I had a piece of it and I must say that the next time, I'm probably getting the ribeye. Cooked perfectly, quality of meat was incredible. This is definitely a must go place in the wharf. PS: make sure to use the restroom. Incredible design in there! read more

We popped in on a quiet Monday night to check out the latest Wharf Knead venture. The good: From the beginning service was on point, which was impressive for a new restaurant. As someone with Celiac, I personally appreciated the excellent gluten free labeling, and the staff was also helpful and accommodating on any needed adjustments. Presentation of the food was pretty. The ribeye was a massive beast of a steak, very well cooked and flavorful. The crabcake was also impressively sized and seasoned, and atypically gluten free. Why not 5 stars? My dining party happened to be composed of folks who might as well be deer to the extent that we love salt, but even we were struck at how our dishes were intensely salty. This will more than likely be worked out in the weeks to come. They also may have some kinks to work out on their wine glasses / pours: I may be a wino, but the shape of the stemware they chose made their pours look mighty stingy in comparison to the more typical mid-glass pour. Great location, good atmosphere and drinks, and professional staff. Just don't order the steak. As a disclaimer, over the past year or two I have been slowly getting to all of the DC area's best steakhouses and seeing which one has the best steak. I am up to 12 different spots thus far and this came in at number 8. We ordered the Tommahawk, a behemouth 44 oz that is cooked over charcoal and pecan and then finished with herb butter. Sounds amazing, right? It is one of its signature dishes, served with the bone for presentation. And it was bland. I do not know how they did it, but it just tasted like it was not seasoned. Perfectly cooked (Med rare), an okay crust (nothing to write home about but not the worst), and not too much inedible fat, but it just tasted like you were eating cooked meat with no salt, pepper, nothing. To get any flavor out of the thing, you needed a bite with the herb butter or with one of the sauces that comes with it (we got peppercorn). Sauces are supposed to compliment the steak - not be what you rely on for people to enjoy it. For being a signature dish that you drop $120 on, not including tax and tip, it was severely disappointing. The steak was the primary reason for going and of course the majority of the meal, hence the 3 stars. But everything else we had - sides, salads, starters, were fantastic, as were the drinks. I would recommend trying this place out. Just, again, if you do, don't order the steak (or if you do, get the dry-aged one, as at least you will get more flavor out of it being dry aged if they similarly do not season it). read more

My husband and I found this gem while discovering the DC Wharf on our 10th anniversary. Happily but sadly I got a voicemail from JoJo Jennings saying he brought us glasses of champagne but we had paid our bill and left. I cannot day enough about how gracious and enthusiastic this gentleman was about his career and his community. We heard him speaking to other guests about the area and my eavesdropping wars couldn't stop listening. The food was great. I was able to place an online order easily and it didn't take long for my food to be ready. Omg. This food is sooo good. Also Im a stickler for neat packaging. When I received my order, everything was separated and packaged appropriately and the portion sizes were humongous for a take-out order.
