It's a Metro Diner so generally speaking everything is good. I was here for a late-ish breakfast…read morewhile killing time. Good service (Thank you, Matthew!) It is a new place as everything is in St. John's. Clean and well-lighted. My only real gripe was that I ordered a 3-egg breakfast platter and the amount of scrambled eggs was 1.5 at best. Certainly not three. I did not bring it to my server's attention. But the server should be checking this sort of thing before he leaves for the table. Pet peeve of many breakfast restaurants in N.E. Florida... why does no one butter the toast in the kitchen before serving it? Is it a law or health code thing? Do I need to ask them to butter the toast?Somebody please advise. Thanks.

The other part of the group also drank their life away, and because of this you always need to go to a diner the next day. It was a pleasant afternoon.. the birds were chirping, the sky was partly cloudy, and the wind felt cool. The group stumbled on Metro Diner which looked very appealing! We were told by a couple nice people that it was only a 15 minute wait which was perfectly fine so we went to Publix and bought a couple things. When we came back we were seated outside with a friendly waiter who got us going right away. The ogre kept saying how she wanted fried chicken and waffles, but then got nervous because it was 2000 calories.. like what? "You're on vacation just get the chicken and waffles." She was already overweight anyways so why not add more fuel to the fire. Anyways onto what we got! Me: egg scramble bowl with avocado and bacon. And oatmeal with fruit My good Buddy Bezos: burger bowl Doctor Bs wife: avocado egg sandwich thing Tragic: your classic eggs, toast, sausage, homefried The heaviest girl ever: Belgian waffle and some fruit? Okay pause.. how do you go from I WANT CHICKEN AND WAFFLES to mmm I'll have a waffle and some fruit! Okay anyways onto the reviews of the food itself! Doctor Bs wife: Really good Tragic: Mid Ogre: My eggs tasted like the were sitting out a while, the waffle wasn't hot but still good and I wish it was warmer and the butter was hard and cold My good buddy bezos: actually he was in the shower so I didn't get his review, but I know he liked it, that burger bowl actually looked good. Me: Yeah I mean I am a sucker for scrambled bowl with hollandaise sauce, I definitely have had way better, but the taste was there. I would like to add that I basically finished my entire meal before tragic or the wife got theirs. It will be shown in the photos below. I tried to be polite and wait, but after 5 minutes without their food showing up I had to eat I was starving. It's kind of crazy to me that me ogre and my good buddy bezos were first. I would think that the classic plate of tragics would be easy, as well as the sandwich because it's just the same stuff in my bowl just between bread somewhat. I enjoyed the ambiance and the feel of the place for sure. The music that was playing was also enjoyable, so initially I was at a three but because of those factors along with the fact that I did somewhat like my food more than the others (which is rare) and don't feel terrible after that's why we stand at a four. I would like to clarify every place has its own rating system. Like you cannot compare a fancy restaurant to a diner although they are still deemed a 4 on my page. Sorry anyways, the prices were also really reasonable and we had a good time. Maybe next year when we are back around here we will come back! It was good!

We had a wonderful date night here!…read more Our waitress was so proud, she explained all about the restaurant and the chef and really made us excited to try the menu. I loved mine scallops, such a unique twist with the tom yum broth. My husband got the ribs and they were incredible! We got the Hawaii coffee and the lava cake to finish. The ice cream or sorbet with the lava cake was so special. We would definitely come back!

We made an early reservation since we saw they do Happy Hour 4PM to 5:00PM everyday so we had to get in on that. We walked and and were seated at our table. They made sure to let us know you can sit anywhere during Happy Hour and still get the specials where many restaurants limit it to a bar area. Rustica does a great job of Happy Hour. They have appetizers, cocktails, beer, Sake, wine, and even main course happy hour entrees too. I started off with a cocktail going for the Liliko Martini which I really enjoyed. I have really been into my Passion Fruit drinks lately. We of course had to get some of the Happy Hour appetizers too and we might have gone a little overboard but for sure worth it. We got: The Naan Bread Yellow Beet Salad Crispy Tofu Roasted Pork Belly Bao Crispy Pork and Shrimp Lumpia Japanese Style Fried Chicken These were a great way to start off dinner and not one of them were $8 or less. If I had to pick favorites the best was for sure the Roasted Pork Belly Bao. I think it might have been the best Pork Belly Bao I had ever had. I was a large thick piece of Pork Belly but it just melted you your mouth and had so much flavor. We also very much enjoyed the Crispy Pork and Shrimp Lumpia which were much bigger then expected. The Japanese Style Fried Chicken was great too and the BBQ Ranch took it to the next level. For my entree I went with the Basil Crusted Roasted Monkfish which came with Vietnamese Yellow Curry, Crispy Shrimp and veggies. The Monkfish was cooked perfectly. I had a great sear on it too which gave it a bit of a crunch. I know Monkfish can sometimes be intimidated people because it was pretty ugly looking but let me tell you if it's prepared like this you're going to love it. Some of the best fish I have had. The Vietnamese Yellow Curry paired very well with it too. Wasn't too heavy and didn't over power the fish but just added an extra boost of flavor. I know what you're thinking who could was possibly be hungry for dessert but it sounded good so we ordered the Thai Milk Tea Creme Brulee and the Yuzu Cheesecake. Both were light enough that we could still really enjoy them after all we had eaten. We really like that the Thai Milk Tea Creme Brulee also had bubble boba in it which we didn't expect. We had an amazing meal and for sure be coming back sooner rather then later.

The server Daniel that we had was over the top, checking on us very frequently, super friendly and was very knowledgeable on the menu. The hostess was also very friendly and welcoming. As well as the manager who came to our table to ask how everything was. The food left us speechless. The ribeye was by far the best I have ever had. The shrimp and grits had such an amazing flavor. Portions were well worth the money. The setting inside was perfect. I would recommend this place 100X over again. Very reasonably priced for the quality.

My boyfriend had a custom make your own old fashioned, which is always fun. You choose what type of liquor, bitters, and smoke you would like so you can tailor your drink to your liking. For appetizers, we had to get the roasted oysters, everything here has the essence of that fire grilled taste which I particularly love on oysters. After we knocked back a dozen of those, we tried the fries with the tender beef, cheese, and pickled jalapeños. They fry them in tallow, which gives the fries a really nice rich flavor! Then my boyfriend has some cornbread, which had a fruit jam and whipped butter, which he enjoyed. I typically get the chimichurri steak which again has that nice fire grilled element and is paired with some delicious vegetables like carrots, green beans, and potatoes. My boyfriend had the red fish over the andouille dirty rice, which was phenomenal! If I didn't get my seafood craving from the oysters, I definitely would've ordered that. Everything was fantastic as always!

It was very empty but we did go on a Thursday afternoon. We tried the shrimp special, gator bites, ahi tuna, and fried green tomatoes. Our food was great reasonably priced. There's a huge full service bar area and a spacious dining room for date night for two and large celebrations on their outside deck overlooking a lake brim full of turtles, fish, gators, birds and all kinds of native Florida wildlife set against views that capture all that's great about living in Northeast Florida. Really amazing! Our server, Susan, was outstanding! She's the one who makes the coleslaw whenever she's on schedule and it's absolutely delicious. I highly recommend. I went on Sunday with my family and we all got the special of about 20 shrimp anyway you like them cooked: fried, steamed or blackened for $16.99 (@ the time I'm writing this review). We all went for the fried shrimp dinner. I chose the fries as my other side and added the unlimited salad bar for just $2.99 more. The salad bar had everything I love about an AYCE salad buffet and it's definitely worth the add. 5-STARS for their classic ranch dressing! And the balsamic dressing, blue cheese dressing and French dressing was excellent, too. They offer a few others, but I didn't try them. I have to have ranch with my fries and I grabbed a bowl of it from the salad bar. I washed it all down with some of their classic Southern sweet tea and I was too full for the Key Lime Pie on special for the day. Next time... After our meal, we went out of the deck to feed the turtles, fish and other wildlife and snap some photos to share. Overall, it was a fantastic meal. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and fried. The service was fast, friendly and professional. And the scenery was truly gorgeous. Yea, I'm probably going to celebrate my birthday here this year.
