This place was so to come to before this damn COVID came into play. It's sad to see service drop and food quality diminish, I just ordered a simple burger and got a burned hockey puck! Crickets were serving tables I guess but i didn't complain but just paid the bill and tipped the server who I didn't know who it was since she had to wear that huge mask! I can't wait until those nice dinner combos return! And good cooks!

$6.99 Prime Rib Dinner- super tender & juicy!

Been a couple times now and the food is pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised. Good service and food was fresh and hot.

Food is usually decent, service is hit or miss. They have good specials and the soups are usually very good.

The burger was great and Marilyn recommended the potstickers which were good but the pineapple cake was FANTASTIC.

There is a new staff and we have noticed a slight decrease in the attentiveness and friendliness with this staff. Today I ordered water (they were out of Dragon's Milk beer) and a French Dip sandwich (no onions). The sandwich was delicious. The meat was tender and well seasoned. The cheese was perfectly melted. The toasted yet fluffy bread complemented the sandwich perfectly as did the rich, umami au jus. I am glad that under new ownership the food quality has not gone down and I look forward to my next meal at The Dayton Taphouse.

Friends had some BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, and I tried the Italian Sausage sandwich. We all raved at how great our meals were. This was my first visit to this place, and if I was local, they would definitely get more of my business. I loved the inside seating and ambiance of the Dayton Taphouse. Mix between rustic and modern. I appreciate finding local Spots like this that excel at what they do. My friend was given a recommendation to come here, and we were all happy with the choice. I just have to say the place was great and the food and service were excellent.

My first time at this restaurant & my last even though I live real close. Here's the challenge,…read moregravy & biscuits. If you just open a can of gravy & serve it over flat biscuits then I don't need to know anything more about the rest of food you serve. The bland gravy at this restaurant can only come from a can which was probably purchased at the Chief 's Store in Carson. On the positive side, the service was good, the coffee served in a real large cup was very good. But ohhhh GODDDDD, the gravy was monumentally disappointing! So bland that a gallon of hot sauce would not improve it. So here's some advice from someone who was taught to make gravy standing at great grandmother's knees in the 1960's start with flour, sausage, bacon grease as a base, throw in a chicken/ beef bullion cube, add some cumin, pepper, half a teaspoon of sugar, even a teaspoon of good chili powder if desired. There are a lot of ways to make gravy taste good. Use some spices!!! Here's a trick, you can add that combination to the crappy canned gravy and make taste a lot better than just opening a can heating it & serving it over flat biscuits, I'm not gonna get started on the biscuits. Just saying... fluffy was missing! In reality it should be against the law to serve canned gravy in any restaurant. So folks at Sunny's Cafe you can do better! Make your gravy epic, put some love, put some flavor in it, and people will love you for it! Oh and bring fluffy back to the biscuits.

The service was great and the remodeling of the restaurant into the steakhouse turned out really nice. They do table side salads, entrees and desserts. We chose to order a standard meal. We went as a group of 20 for their prix fix New Years Eve dinner. The food was good but not great…read more The amuse bouche was very good. The 1st course was a choice of the foie gras (good but had an inordinate amount of fig jam on top) or escargot (very good). The second course was French onion soup or Niçoise salad. Both were very good. The third course was a choice of poached sole with hollandaise (the hollandaise was extremely spicy and way over powered the delicate sole. The sole was cooked until it was mushy) or roasted chicken in brown sauce (some were very good and others were dry and overcooked). The fourth course was roasted marrow bones with golden raisins and brie with lingonberry. Good but very rich. The fifth course was beef bourguinon that was excellent. For dessert we had crepe Suzette's that were okay but very sweet and paired with an extremely sweet ice wine. Too much sweet on sweet. Some hot bread and butter, others didn't. Same with water, some glasses were empty and never filled. Overall it was way too much food for me. It said $150 all inclusive so we assumed that meant tax and tip was included. We were wrong. When we got the bill they added tax and 20% gratuity. Then on top of that they charged 3% for paying with a credit card. It ended up being a $400 dinner. That was more than we anticipated in Virginia City. Additionally, apparently they ran out of one of the wines and some people were offered a different one and then got charged $20/glass for it. All in all, it was fun (more because of the company than the experience), the food was mostly good and the atmosphere was nice and service was okay. I felt bad for other couples trying to have a romantic NYE dinner and having to sit next to a group of 20. We'll choose a different location next year.
