I am visiting the are for work. Besides Starbucks, there are 2 other coffee shops in the area, but this is my favorite. It has a possitive atmosphere, fast good service and the people are nice. They have seating inside, free wifi and power outlets throughout the shop so it's a good place to come work and stay powered up. There are also a few tables and chairs to sit outside. I got the strawberry banana smoothie which had no flavor so I was not a fan of that but my friend did like his coffee and said he'd go back. We both got a bagel with egg and cheese and enjoyed those. The girl at register was very patient and kind with it being my first time there and not knowing their items or what to decide on. Coffee was okay. Hot sandwich was good but nothing special. I wish they would a little more effect to serve it nicer than putting everything in paper wrappers styrofoam to go boxes.... If we are either in house why are things served as to go, this really is a big minus for coffee shop that is trying to stand out and make less waist! Decor wise the shop is extremely cluttered and overwhelming it literally feels like I walked into a store not a nice relaxing shop. Very outdated and old furniture. There are no nice coffee shops in the area so in my opinion if the shop would put a little more effect to elevate the shop they are going to have so many more happy and loyal customers. 2 stars for okay coffee and hot sandwich. read more

My Wife and I make a habit of stopping here for breakfast every sunday morning on the way to church. We're regulars enough that most times our drinks are being made as we walk in the door. I always love stopping at The Grind when I'm in Apple valley visiting family. This location is conveniently located at the edge of a strip mall, always has parking, and is easy to get in and out of. The shop is always clean and well organized, and a very inviting place to sit and enjoy coffee and visit. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The pastries look amazing, I've never tried any of them but am always very tempted. There is a great selection of drinks, syrup flavors, etc. I always go pretty simple; a flavored latte. Yesterday was a hot day, I chose an iced vanilla latte and it was just perfect. Definitely worth the stop. read more

Independent coffee houses are a rarity up here in the high desert. There's probably about 2 and The Grind is one of them. I'm not here often but every once in a while I'll make my way out this way to grab some coffee and do a little work. It's a cozy shop with few armchairs and seats and tables. Their coffee isn't bad although it's the style where they put them in the coffee canisters and you pump them into your cup. When wanting to stay local however, this place does it in a clutch. The wait staff are all friendly. I did try one of their desserts once and they are kept frozen in the back so they come out a little mushy. They don't try to be a 3rd wave coffee house, just a simply good old fashioned coffee place. You can get the usual bagels, oatmeal, grilled cheese and bagel breakfast sandwiches as well as an assortment of pastries like cakes, bars, cookies cinnamon rolls and muffins. There's a fireplace which I haven't seen ever lit even as cold as it is lately but then again, I haven't been here during the evening but I believe they close at an earlier hour anyway so it's probably just for aesthetics and adds to the ambiance. Coffee refills are only $0.50 so that's a good deal. So if you're looking for specialty coffee place that's in the fray of the latest coffee craze, this isn't your place. There's no pour-overs to be had here. I asked and staff kind of gave me a blank look and didn't know what I was talking about. You'd have to go to Tonyan the other indie coffee house or drive 30 minutes to Klatch in Fontana. Think of this place as just your good old-fashioned coffee spot not really into all the 3rd Wave coffee craze and specialties. But yes, I'd come back again. read more

I am not sure why I thought this place was closed. I am so happy to find out I was wrong!!! First off, I have given up Starbucks coffee. I am no longer willing to suffer long lines and ridiculous prices to get consistently bitter blah. In my quest for great coffee houses, I am visiting small, mostly independent spots and discovering a fun and tasty world. The Grind is, regionally, the best choice for coffee, ambience, and employee interaction. We drove up after 7pm. They were locking up the (then) darkened patio. When I said I'd like to sit outside, the gentleman offered to leave the front tables open for us. Nice start. Walking through the door was like entering a comfy and kitchy living room. Everything felt eclectic and well chosen. Cool things to buy, as well. I appreciate a place which allows me to relax and shop. The employees: the woman who took our order could not have been more engaging. She made a suggestion, answered questions, and genuinely engaged us. This was at the end of the day when most people in the work-world are cranky. Come to think of it, the guy who was closing up the outside was equally nice. Their energy and attitude says much about the positive nature of this shop Now, I like strong and hearty coffee. I got it. No frills this time. I'm in testing/questing mode. They got it right! There was no bitterness and no oily residue from cheap beans. There were no grounds at the bottom of the cup, so I know that their machinery is clean (again,the end of the work-day). I am highly impressed. The Grind is, easily, on the way to becoming a regular stop when I am shopping in this area. read more

We love coming here for coffee and bagels. The staff is polite and the food and drinks are ready quickly. We usually get the jalapeño bagel and a vanilla iced latte both of which I highly recommend. The interior is nice and has some seating as well as some outside. read more

I feel like I got straight half and half. no espresso.. my drink is pure white.. $7.25 for a MED milk I just paid. Won't be back. Ordered a chai tea latte and it tasted like a melted sugar cookie. Terrible- they use a powder and took 15 minutes to give us our drinks after serving the people who ordered after us first. Cashier was wearing her mask at her chin- what's the point of wearing a mask if you can't wear it correctly?
