A solid 3 1/2 stars, due to a couple of small hiccups. I've wanted to come in here for some time, but I was unable to make it into the restaurant, so I decided to do a DoorDash. The first hiccup, was the restaurant is less than 10 minutes from our place, yet from the time I ordered to the time the food came, it was just under an hour. Plus, it was after lunchtime on a Saturday, which should've meant that the place should have been less busy That's a long wait for a short distance. The food itself was pretty good. My first order was the cod, fritters. The flavor was good. I could definitely taste the cod. What I didn't care for, was the texture. They were pretty gummy. I don't know if that's how they are supposed to be or not, but I was not a fan of the texture. They did come with a red sauce for dipping, but it was a bit too spicy for me. On the other end of the spectrum, however, was the curried goat, which I loved. I called ahead to ask if it was spicy, and they said, not really. And they were right. It wasn't really that spicy. It was a mellow spice that made my forehead sweat just a little bit, but well within what I like for spicy. The flavor itself was fantastic. The goat was bone in, but it was so tender. It was literally falling off the bone. Goat can be gamey, but this wasn't. It had a nice mellow flavor. There was also a gravy, which had a deep, rich flavor, and the rice had a good texture and a nice flavor also. It didn't taste like plain white rice. Overall, even with the delivery cost, the price was very reasonable. I would definitely order from here again, but the next time I would go into the restaurant instead of doing delivery. This was the worst bomboclaat Jamaican food we ever had in our life along with the worst service. My BF and I walked into this restaurant on Saturday, 1/3/2026 around 2pm. The door was open with the open sign up so we assumed they were open for business. We walked in to someones old Jamaican granny behind the counter alone and confused. I'm not sure if she meant to leave the door open but the hours of operation that were posted were well within the time we came. When we walked in, granny asked us if we wanted to eat in or take it to go. We said to go and proceeded to look at the menu. The menu looked like it had good stuff but when we asked granny if she had the fish or the patties, she said she had neither (what kind of Jamaican spot doesn't have patties?!). My BF wanted jerk chicken and fries and granny said she had that. I, myself, honestly did not want anything because they did not have the fish but settled for roti. I wanted roti with beef at first but granny said they did not have that either (I honestly think she just didn't know where anything was) so I said nevermind. Then granny got on the phone with the person that left her alone - referred to only as "she/her" and that person said that they had roti with chicken so I reluctantly agreed. After granny got our orders she began cooking. My BF and I sat down at the tables all the way to the left next to that makeshift wall and waited for about 30 mins for granny to make the food. During those 30 mins we waited, we noticed a lot of interesting things - there is mold around the window on the left if you are facing the door from the inside. Yikes. I was looking down at my phone and saw black smoke following me only to look up and see poor granny in a cloud of smoke behind the counter. It was then that my boyfriend told me "does she need help?" We could clearly see she was struggling to make the food. Mind you, the whole reason we decided to stay was because we thought granny was going to throw down but we were totally wrong. Granny packed up the food and then I asked her how much I owed her to which she got on the phone again with the person that left her alone and came back with $36.27. LUCKILY I had cash but unfortunately granny didn't have any change so I ended up giving her $40 in cash. Right before we left, granny asked us if we wanted to take a drink with us. I was honestly thinking that granny was telling us to get a drink because we overpaid her by a few dollars but she ended up trying to charge us for it. WTF? I pulled out my calculator and told her we paid her an extra $3.73 which covered the price of the soda. She was saying things that were really hard to understand but I think she thought that extra $3.73 was a tip. I don't tip on pick up or to go orders ever. Finally, after going back and forth with granny, she told us to take the soda that was on display, which was warm and maybe old. She surely did not know where the cold ones were. We went into our car to eat the food and it was horrible. The jerk chicken was not jerk at all. It was marinated with something but it definitely was not jerk. Granny just threw it on the grill and overcooked it because the thigh was tough and dry. The roti I got was not the flaky kind and it was whatever. None of us finished our food. The only thing that was good was the warm soda. Whoever left granny alone and confused is dead wrong. We know she tried so we give her credit for that but it was still overall a strange situation. My friends and I were visiting the Eureka area for the weekend for the first time. I'm not sure if this is common for most places in the area, but this restaurant wasn't open during the hours stated online and on their door. We showed up at around 1:30 on a Saturday and tried to open the door to find it locked. We saw workers inside, so we were a little confused. We just waited outside for a little bit, trying to research another place to grab lunch. About five minutes later, one of the workers invited us inside. I decided to get the sampler platter. It came with plantains, jerk chicken, cod fritters, and vegetables. The sauce that it came with was so unbearably spicy, so I'd definitely recommend avoiding this if you can't handle spice. The food was something different than what I'm used to, but I really enjoyed the plantains! Service was on the slower side, and they forgot one of our dishes, which ended up being fine. Had food from the truck and it was great, stopped by the restaurant recently for a late lunch and it did not disappoint. The interior is bright, blue, open and lots of glass. Some tables and chairs with a few seats at the bar area. Walk up counter service, was thinking one way for food walking in the door, but decided on the Fried Chicken plate with veggies and mash. This is a large meal and it actually made two for me. Two nice sized pieces of boneless chicken breast fried dark golden brown, a bit overcooked but still very flavorful. This was my first time trying Caribbean food, so I'm not sure how how of my experience was driven by general Caribbean cuisine vs this specific restaurant. The food was mediocre -- I couldn't eat more than 2 of the fried plantain since it felt very mushy, but parts of the center still felt firm. It should have been cooked longer and I would have liked it crispier. The doubles were quite nice and had a nice sweetness to it that wasn't overpowering. The bread that came with the doubles was alright (I believe they were deep fried soft tortillas), but the chickpeas and the sauce were the star of the dish. The place was clean and there was only 1 other patron at the time so service was great (I went at 5:30 pm on a Friday) Overall if I were to go again, I'd go at lunchtime since their lunch menu seemed a lot more comprehensive and the items looked better. read more

Their unique bay leaf tea ($3) tasted herbal & refreshing, and they had other interesting Caribbean drinks, and wines and beers, as well. Don't come if you're in a hurry. While staying in Eureka, I wanted to try Taste of Bim based on the high reviews, but it took me 3 tries to do so. Their hours aren't as listed, they basically open and close when they feel like it. I tried ordering takeout on a Tuesday and Wednesday night, both before 8p, but got no answer on the phone. I called a third time on a Thursday night before 8p and when I arrived it looked like they were cleaning up for the night and about to shut, I was probably their last order. So yeah, if they say they're open til 9p, don't believe it. Friendly service, and though prices are rather steep, I'd say it was mostly worth it for the superb flavor. I got a jerk chicken plate. The chicken had a really nice seasoning, not too spicy but with a little kick. The chicken (dark meat) was tender and the little bit of charring on the outside was perfect. It came with rice and "peas," some sort of cabbage mix, and plantains, all of which tasted fresh and delicious. I suppose I was expecting the portion of chicken to be a bit larger based on the price tag, but will forgive. This place was a really good experience, as I've never really have carribean food often. We came around 7:30 on a Sunday, and it wasn't too busy so we were able to be seated right away. I wanted to order the oxtail but they were sold out, so I opted for the salmon instead. It did take a while for our food to come out, but completely understandable since it seems they make everything from scratch here, and it just made the food even better once it arrived. The salmon was perfectly cooked and well seasoned with the sauce on top, and I also really liked the sauteed veggies that came on the side. The rice was a bit mushier than I like but still not bad by any means! We also got the pone and bread pudding for dessert, with a scoop of pineapple coconut (?) ice cream. I've never had pone before, so it was a new experience for me but man it was so good! Warm, cakey, and really delicious. The bread pudding was also amazing -- dense with the rum sauce, but the caramelized edges were the best. Service was very warm and friendly, and I would recommend giving this place a try! read more

I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. First off, the food was wonderful. The baked cod in secret sauce was my main entree. This might be difficult for you if you aren't used to eating fish with small bones, but if you want to put in the work, you will be well rewarded. The fish was super tender - you could tell it was fresh. The onions, tomatoes, and secret sauce punched your taste buds with a rich blend of savory flavors that brought out the taste of the fish. I was also impressed with the curry dressing that came with the salad and the rum raisin ice cream. I would definitely recommend getting both of these, especially if you want to try something a little different. Secondly, the atmosphere was really refreshing. The music was lively, and the decor was relaxed yet welcoming. I loved the fact that there were plenty of diners there without the hustle and bustle of one of those bar and grills or semi-fine dining joints. Finally, our waitress excelled in serving and being friendly. I think her name was Diane. Thank you, Diane! I think she was the only person waiting tables that night. The food here is always 10/10. I've gotten it in house and to go. The owner and chef is always cheerful and welcoming, I feel very welcomed when there. A very upfront bunch of people working there, if it's busy they will let you know rather than just having you wait for hours. I've never had a bad experience while dining in either. There is plenty of seating and it's always very clean. Two cons (but never outweighing the pros so still 10/10): 1- sometimes it gets cold so I recommend bringing a sweatshirt. 2- the servers themselves aren't always the best, I've definitely felt forgotten about at least once. Jerk Pork - also very moist and a good depth of flavor from the char. Really comes down to preference if you like chicken or pork. Entrees come with two sides - Mashed Potato was garlicky, smooth, and creamy. Would recommend if you are a big fan of mash. Rice and peas - a safe bet. FYI it's actually rice and beans. I saw great reviews and did some research of where to go in Eureka with A Taste of Bim being highly recommended. Plus it's a kind of food that I normally don't eat which makes it extra desirable to me. I left the restaurant confused to why I had a disappointing experience while past customers had raving review. Maybe Thursday dinner is not the best time to go? Why were they running low on ingredients? Why was the staff rude? A few other things happened which made my experience sour. I went on a Thursday night for dinner when it looked slow with a handful of other customers. My fiancé and I ordered the Fried Plantain appetizer and for the main we ordered the House Specialty of Baked Whole Fish in secret sauce with celery, carrots, sweet peppers, and onions. I thought we were keeping pretty simple and easy by knowing what we wanted a few minutes after seating down. A minute or two after we ordered the waitress came to our table to say they were out of plantains and the fish. I found it kind of 'fishy' that they were out of fish since the restaurant is less than a quarter of a mile from the bay. Also the main dish we ordered instead of the Baked Whole Fish was the Fish Stew served with mild island curry sauce with peppers, tomatoes, and onions. Not going to lie after waiting for a good chunk of time and starving the Fish Stew was gone in a matter of 10min between the two of us. We decided to take our chances and order dessert. Luckily what we wanted from the dessert menu they were able to serve us. What we had orders was the Bread Pudding served with rum sauce and Authentic Jamaican Rum Raisin Ice Cream. We asked to have both desserts together; however, she gave us the ice cream at least 15min before serving the bread pudding. Luckily after 5min of waiting with the ice cream and we hadn't touched it, I told the waitress to take the ice cream back since we didn't want it unless it was with the bread pudding. When she finally brought the bread pudding to the table with the ice cream from earlier then we finally ate the dessert. I am not going to lie but I couldn't believe she brought the ice cream without the other earlier. Wow this food is so delicious. I cannot believe we got these flavors here in Eureka. I struggled to think about any other Caribbean place that I've been that is this good. I think this is truly a gem in eureka! The truth flavor and blends of the Caribbean right here in this small-ish town. The ox tail was fall off your bone good mix with the stew vegetables which, I would never think would be delicious, but it was! The jerk chicken was absolutely delicious! There was a nice seasoning that gave a crispiness and the meat itself was melt off your mouth good. It was so soft! How did they do it? The rice and beans with that chicken was also delicious. My boyfriend's family is from Trinidad, and he said that those rice and beans were darn good. Now, we had to also try a beef patty. We ordered two specialty plates to go. When we got home, we realized neither came with the sauted veggies as advertised. The rice in both dishes were not cooked. Both had underdone crunchy grains. The chicken curry came with just a few pieces of chicken, some mushy carrots and no sauce. The jerk chicken tasted like regular roasted chicken. My husband got it with rice and peas. Instead, he got a pile of underdone white rice and literally 4 beans placed on top, as if they had run out of the actual rice and peas. I debated on leaving a review because a place might have an off night. Somehow there was still abysmally slow service despite there being no pickup orders or people in the restaurant. Please know before eating here that this isn't Caribbean food. There are no spices or rubs on their proteins. The jerk chicken is just bbq chicken and the only things good from our order were mashed potatoes and fried plantains. This place lacks flavor and spices which is really concerning if you've had Caribbean food before. Appetizer sampler: Jerk chicken wings- tastes like good bbq but no spices. Jerk sauce is supposed to be seasoned with a kick. Fried cod-I don't know what that was. It was doughy and chewy and really concerning Plantains- best part of this dish Vegetables- it's just cut up raw carrots and broccoli Jerk pork- dried pork chops with no flavor over some overly cooked rice and peas. Whole fish in special sauce- the fish was cooked well but the sauce is tomato ragu, again lacking any type of spices. Like I mentioned, mashed potatoes are the best part. I really wanted to love this place because the employees are really kind and we need to support local businesses. I hope there will be more spices added in the future. My experience here was a good one. The food is tasty, the restaurant decor is lovely, the wait staff is attentive and keep the restaurant clean, and the wait time for food isn't long. I would definitely eat here again, but my visit wasn't a 5-star experience (although there are quite a few glowing reviews here, so perhaps I'm an isolated case). While my food was good, the chicken I ordered did not have very much meat on the bone and my plate was mostly potatoes. My plate cost roughly $15, which I felt was a little much considering I didn't get much protein, and still felt hungry after eating. I wouldn't mind paying that much or a little more if the meal were filling. I'll try something else next time. The house dressing for the green salad was excellent and I'm glad I ordered it. It also made a great dipping sauce for the chicken. Granted that my friend and I were two of maybe four patrons at the time, the service was good. However, the waitress asked if she could take my plate two times while I was in the middle of chewing which I was a little bothered by. I know I'm a slow eater, but I think a good sign that someone is still eating is by seeing them chewing. I'm looking forward to going back and trying out some of the appetizers, which sound delicious. My mom and I went here and had an absolutely fantastic dinner! I can't believe we've been sleeping on this incredible gem for so long. We split fried plantains, a stewed red pea plate, and a veggie curry bowl and all three were the standout dishes. The depth and complexity of the flavors was incredible and it was obvious it was made with great care and love. It was also considerably more affordable than some of the other restaurants we were looking at going to today, especially with some incredible vegan and gluten free options on the menu. They don't have servers on weekdays currently, but the staff of two on a slow Tuesday was very friendly and warm; I felt right at home in the quiet little restaurant, sipping ginger tea by the window. Found this place on Yelp and it did not disappoint. I had the curry goat with rice and my friend had the shrimp and rice bowl. Portions are big and so are the flavors. We should have reconsidered ordering food when we first ordered a beer and the kid asked if we wanted ice or no ice in it. Older women in the kitchen, young kid doing the rest. Ordered cod fritters and jerk chicken wings. Kid put a basket of 4 small fritters on our table- no plates, silverware or napkins. Had to ask for them. Fritters very over done on the outside although the inside was flavorful. Watched as the older lady sat and told him how to cook the wings. These at least came out on a plate. Had a strange dipping sauce that tasted like cocktail sauce for shrimp. Wings were definitely cooked earlier reheated and while the wing tips were hot throughout, the drumstick part was still cold inside. Didn't bother to finish them. Caveat-- I ordered from their mobile truck, and I have not been to their physical establishment. I ordered the mixed veggie empanada, but was instead given the spinach variety. It was very bland, and I couldn't make it past a couple bites. I also ordered the mac and cheese, which was handed to me completely room temperature-- I'd even say cold. This place is amazing, and will always recommend it to people. I walked in this place with low expectation on my first day when I ordered Jerk chicken. The seasoning or marinating process they do is stellar, best chicken I every had and I'm very picky with food. So I went on to try their curry goat, island burger with a deep fried plantain and now today Jerk pork. Everything they have is sooooo good, be aware their food will make you pig out! Listen to address the controversy about rude staff and lack of ingredients, the staff certainly isn't rude they're just not all in your space like Dutch Bros. As for the lack of ingredients this is a small but amazing restaurant, if something expires just be grateful they didn't serve it to you lol. The store hours may be off even though I only encountered that problem once, so just give them a call to see if their open. The waiting time isn't long at all, takes them 7-15 mins on all of my meals. Also if you get the house specialities, always get the veggies and rice. They have this homemade sauce that is extremely addictive! In conclusion I found that this place is totally worth the price and drive down to Old Town. Soo glad I decided to try this restaurant out. read more
