Haven't been to a Ground Pat'i in years, as all of them by my home have closed. Really nice inside, very warm and inviting. Fresh, made to order onion rings were yummy. The Ground Pat'i burger was huge! Yummy.

Responding to Chelsa K.'s 1* review. As I am someone who was in the restaurant when it happened…read more I just think it's funny how you aren't mentioning y'all came in as 6 people and then wanted accommodations for 30 people during one of the busiest times of the night. Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. Y'all came in and ruined everyone's dinner because y'all don't know how to plan ahead. Stop blaming people for your mistakes and take accountability.

This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options.

8 EMPTY TABLES. All clean. All ready to go. But somehow they were all off limits to me.

She was very friendly but forgot that I ordered a crab cake. I let her know and she was like, do you still want it. Kinda awkward , so I said no. I'm sure it was just an off day for her. I will still go back and have oysters. Food is really great!

First Course: We began with the oyster sampler featuring Charbroiled, Bienville, Orleans, and Rockefeller styles. Each had its own unique flavor profile, and together they made a great introduction to the meal. Second Course: A crisp romaine and spring mix salad paired with a crawfish, crab, and corn bisque. The bisque was rich and comforting, perfectly balanced by the freshness of the salad. Main Course Highlights: Almond-crusted paneed chicken finished with roasted red bell pepper aioli. Grilled portabella mushroom stuffed with Gulf blue crab, shrimp, peppers, and spinach, topped with lemon aioli and parmesan. Filet Orleans (which I didn't try since I don't eat beef, but others raved about it). Dessert: The finale was a Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding drizzled with a decadent sauce -- warm, sweet, and absolutely delicious. Overall, the combination of excellent service, creative dishes, and indulgent dessert made this Yelp Event a true standout.

We had chicken and sausage gumbo, Pepper Jack boudin balls, bam bam gator bites and the blackened chicken pasta. The waiter this time was better than the waitress we had last time. He was very attentive and made sure we never had to ask for refills. The appetizers came out fairly normal time-wise I would say. The main portion took a little bit longer than what you're used to at a franchise restaurant but here that's perfectly fine as it's worth the couple extra minutes. The gumbo is perfect(I love when gumbo is not over complicated) I like to add a lil hot sauce to it and it's delicious... only thing is, while they already give generous portions... the cup and the bowl looked exactly the same except I think in the bowl they give you one extra scoop of rice... which would be just fine if it wasn't like $6 more. But still delicious nonetheless. The bam bam gator bites were really good and I highly recommend them. If you like bam bam shrimp you'll love these. The pepper jack boudin balls were good, nothing special but they were definitely worth the try. My co-worker had the blackened chicken pasta and when I asked him how it was he said "dude, it's really good!" lol. The building is pretty unique and they have some outside seating with a massive beautiful tree that over looks the restaurant and takes claim to some of the asphalt in the parking lot lol. But it's a great spot for birthdays, good lunch menu deals, casual date night or if you wanna blow some steam off, they have a little bar in the restaurant as well. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I'm from East Texas, so I'm no Cajun/Louisianan but they truly got some good grub here. I'll definitely be coming back several more times when I get the chances. I will warn you, I believe the food is freshly made so when it gets to the table, give it some time to cool off because it comes out HOT.

The only disappointment was finding out our favorite appetizer, the pork cheeks, is no longer on the menu. We decided to try the crabmeat cheesecake instead, and it was pretty good. For our entrées, my wife ordered the Fish Katie, which was as good as always, and I had the lamb chop special. The lamb chops were cooked well and had great flavor. To top off the evening, the staff brought out cotton candy and a slice of olive oil cake for my wife's birthday, which was a nice touch and made the celebration feel special. Overall, we had a very enjoyable dinner with good food and attentive service. We definitely plan on coming back and hope the pork cheeks make a return to the menu someday!

Peyton and the remaining staff took great care of us - attentive / knowledgeable / friendly. Two surprises that we all took special note of however - the breakfast/brunch offered biscuit - & - the Pecan Seduction dessert - outrageously delicious. Cotton Candy kids treat to close out was a hit too. Remainder of restaurant and outdoor seating option (when open for use) all = very appealing. There are so many menu items you will have a difficult time choosing, I would say pick something you've never tried and go for it. The crawfish beignets were amazing, our first time trying, very light and the pico de gallo goes beautifully, as this compensate for the oil. We had the lunch specials which is a separate menu, and what a great choice, the crab enchiladas was creamy and with the lettuce and pico was a delicious bite, and the tuna bowl was spot on. The team here is great you can see the personal pride with the service. And the dining area has always been very spacious and inviting.

Went here with my husband and his friends, and I totally loved the vibes, decor, and overall look…read moreof the restaurant--it really reminded me of restaurants in New York. Even from the parking lot, you can already smell the food. The whole area was filled with the smoky steak aroma, which instantly made me extra hungry. When you walk in, you can see them handmaking their own tortillas, and that alone got me really excited to try the food. We were seated in a separate room. It was a bit small, but it definitely gave off NYC vibes. The decorations were done so well--I couldn't stop complimenting the space. We arrived right in time for Happy Hour, where you can get a large margarita for the price of a small, which is a great deal. As soon as we sat down, they brought out tortillas and salsa like most Mexican restaurants--but these were surprisingly much better. I believe it's because of their fresh handmade tortillas. What we ordered: Superior Quesadillas - Nicely plated and came with sides (I forgot to take a picture so I don't remember exactly what they were). It was decent, but nothing really special. San Lucas Sizzling Fajitas - Came with skirt steak and shrimp. The shrimp was butterflied Texas-style and served with all the usual sides. The meat was good, but I didn't like the vegetables. They were too soft and lacked that grilled, charred flavor. The pan was extremely hot, so the vegetables ended up burning and sticking to it instead. Service: Honestly, I didn't like the service. The server was okay, but definitely not great. I usually love Mexican restaurants because of their warm, friendly staff, but this experience made me uncomfortable. We felt rushed the entire time--she kept taking our plates and drinks before we were finished, and I had to ask for them back multiple times (not just once). What really killed the mood was the shots. Even though we felt rushed, every time we ordered shots it took forever to arrive. We waited almost 20 minutes total for just two rounds of shots, which is ridiculous for something so simple. I understand it was busy, but many busy restaurants still don't make customers wait that long. It really ruined the vibe for us. Final thoughts: The bill was pricey, and I knew that going in--but I had high expectations and left totally disappointed. The food was just decent, yet very overpriced. For the same amount of money, you could go to another Mexican restaurant or even a food truck and get a full feast. I rarely complain about service--especially since I used to be a server--but this time I couldn't overlook it. Would I recommend it? * Fresh tortillas & happy hour drinks: YES * Food & service: NO Unless you're coming strictly for the vibes and pretty decor, I wouldn't recommend spending your money here. There are much better places out there.
