I had never heard of this place before my recent trip to the beach. I had to check it out. The crab dip was delicious. I got the volcano roll, too. I thought it was very filling. I couldn't eat it all. Nice clean place. Check it out!

Grumpy Monks is hands down one of the greatest all around food locations in the the North Myrtle beach area. This is due to the fact that the sushi is incredibly good, I recommend to try it all. Our server was kind and quick to take our food and drink orders. They also have many televisions in order to watch games, this would be an amazing spot for an NFL Sunday.

Great Food & Chill Atmosphere We had an awesome experience at The Grumpy Monk in North Myrtle Beach! I ordered the Mushroom Swiss, which was rich and flavorful, and the Chicken Sushi, which was surprisingly delicious--fresh, light, and full of flavor. My wife had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and Yaki-Hot Wings, and both were a hit. The burger was juicy with just the right amount of mushroom and Swiss, and the wings had a perfect balance of heat and flavor. The vibe was relaxed, and the staff was friendly and attentive. This spot has a little bit of everything--burgers, sushi, wings--and they do it all really well. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

The menu was quite diverse, but nothing particularly unique and from a value perspective it's extremely overpriced for the quantity and quality of what you get. I'm not looking for mammoth portions, but to pay nearly $17 for a steak sandwich with very little meat and mostly cheese is hugely disappointing. Kind of a cool vibe once you come in, and a very family friendly place... With the number of arcade games and such. Service was great, so not taking anything away from the staff. Bottom line: overpriced food with a fairly broad menu that you can do better with at other places.

Gluey egg roll stuffed with nothing. Generic ketchup, wtf. Beer was good . No one wants fries without Heinz ketchup..

Mediocre food and service. Great atmosphere though. Went there kind of late after 2 other restaurants had long waits.

Better version of BDubs. Food portions were huge and solid service. Couple of us got sick though. Not sure what it was.

This was my first visit to Dagwood's in North Myrtle Beach. I stopped in after 8 p.m. on a Monday,…read moreso I realize late evenings on a weeknight can feel a little different from peak hours. I was greeted quickly and directed to a seat at the bar. The same staff member soon brought me water and poured a 10-ounce Dirty Myrtle IPA, a local double IPA on tap. She made sure I knew it was a smaller pour, which I appreciated. The beer itself was very good. After getting a menu, I ordered the fish and chips, which is usually my go-to when trying a pub for the first time. The plate looked great when it arrived: four large pieces of fried cod (enough for two people, really), fries, a big pickle spear, two cups of tartar sauce, and coleslaw. The coleslaw deserves special mention. It was excellent--honestly one of the best I've had anywhere. Fresh, balanced, and really flavorful. The fish arrived hot and the first bite was very good: flaky cod with a crisp exterior. As I worked further into it, though, I realized the batter was thicker than I personally prefer. Instead of a light, crispy coating, it was heavier and softer underneath the crust, and as the fish cooled that became more noticeable. The fries were decent but seemed like they had been sitting under heat for a bit. Not bad, just not as hot and crisp as they could have been. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and it seems like a good place to meet friends or catch a game. Service at the bar was polite but fairly minimal, and my total was just over $27 for the beer and fish and chips, which felt a little high for the overall depth of the meal. Overall, it was a mixed experience: good vibe, great coleslaw, decent fish, but not quite a standout meal for me. I'll likely give Dagwood's another try and explore other items on the menu. And when I do, I'll definitely order that coleslaw again.
