They just don't care. Although I should probably check my to-go order before leaving, I shouldn't have to. It wasn't even busy. Asked for the chicken to be in buffalo sauce. It wasn't. Ordered Cole slaw for the side, nowhere to be found. The last thing is, I was sitting there waiting for my order so it's not like I arrived late but when I went out to the car and we decided to eat before getting back to the hotel, the onion rings were soggy and both wraps were cold. I really didn't want to make this review, considering my family and I had dinner there LAST NIGHT in the bar and had Tommy who was incredible and received 10/10 server charisma and charm. Tonight, a Sunday evening, we walked in with 7 of us at about 8:15 and got sat by 8:45, and was greeted with pretty dry service. As a server and bartender from IL myself I'm shocked that such a COOL concept restaurant has sub-par service considering the prices and the wait time for food. This is an area where people vacation to spend money! Be excited about where you work! Yknow? This place has so much potential, and I was hoping that our second visit out of ALL the Myrtle Beach restaurants we could have chosen was going to be great again, and honestly we were just let down. My MIL's grilled mahi tacos came out blackened and spicy, and she went without eating because it was easier to just have it taken off the bill than to wait for our server who disappeared often to come fix the mistake. Went there yesterday for some lunch after Black Friday shopping, sat at the bar. The bartender, was obnoxious from the time we sat down, acted as if we were putting him out by requesting a taste of beer before we ordered then he would walk around a pretty much empty bar and totally ignore us when we were ready to order. After waiting 15 minutes, I finally told him my order when he stood at the register near us, and he proceeded to yell and humiliate us in front of the other few patrons at the bar, also saying he needed a shot after dealing with us, which he proceeded to do. This was our second summer to try grumpy Monk's in North Myrtle Beach. Last year my wife and I had a date night while on vacation and it was absolutely amazing I would give it five stars last year. This year however we arrived after five and there was a 90 minute waiting list. We had a party of nine with kids ages 11 to 15. (Two Families). We found the reception staff to be unpleasant and there's nowhere to sit outside or inside for the kids. They turned part of a bar section that had tables in it last year into a corn hole game room with a few wooden chairs down the right hand side. You have to pay to play corn hole. When several people got up from the bar we made our way over to get a few drinks and try to get the kids an appetizer. The bar staff seemed like they did not want to wait on us they never came back and it took forever to get our appetizers. We got our appetizers right before our table was ready. We had to basically flag the bar staff down to get anything and we were sitting right at the bar and they almost ignored us. The kids had to stand away from the bar at a small round table to eat half of the appetizer which we ordered. The other one didn't come till it was time for us to be seated( 45 minutes into our wait). The kids could not sit at the bar obviously even to eat. There were several tables that were not seated and empty. There was a long table that had no one sitting at it and the hostess staff came in and told us we couldn't even stand next to it with our drinks. Basically we felt like everywhere we went before we were told could not be there. No where to stand or sit. The only thing that saved the night was our waiter after we were sat at our table. John was amazing. He has been the best waiter / server we have had all week. He knew the menu he was efficient polite and smiled. He brought us everything we asked for got our food orders correct. He refilled our drinks without us having to ask. He was the superstar of the night saving the restaurant from getting a terrible rating from me. I also have to give some kudos to the cooking staff back of the house. Our food was very good. In the restaurants defense I would say that they are understaffed like most places across the nation. They are having a difficult time filling positions. Due to that the staff is overwhelmed and unhappy. With the exception of John. Like I said he was the saving grace with his work ethic and good attitude. read more

This is one of my new favorites in the Myrtle Beach area and there are 3 locations now. My parents and I came during happy hour, which meant a little more wait time due to the crowd, but we enjoyed discounted sushi rolls and wings that made it worth it. I ordered a build-your-own salad and it was HUGE-- definitely well worth the price and delicious. I recommend the homemade ranch dressing and housemade croutons. I added grilled chicken and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't dry at all. My parents had a buffalo chicken sandwich and a burger combo that came with 5 wings. We then waited 10 minutes for our waitress, to then see she had friends visiting the restaurant so she was visiting with them. We let her know from the beginning that we had a coupon for a free appetizer. We ordered it and waited and waited. Had to remind her that we ordered and it magically appeared. Our entrees were just blah. No sauce on the wings - had to be sent back. The French Dip - which I was told by the waitress was very popular - was blah. Bland, no flavor, just gross. She is very personable, she smiles, and she treats every guest with professionalism and kindness. She makes perfect drinks, offers suggestions for great food (and appetizers). Shane is friendly and also a great bartender. The food is phenomenal. The shrimp (Zippidy-Do-Dah- name) is scrumptious. The sushi is delectable, too. The crab meat and flounder are very fresh. Wife and I were in Saturday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. Daniella H. made a first time visit a great one. She's professional, timely with checking in on us, orders came out perfectly, but must of all, while I was trying to make a stout/porter beer choice (there's a few on the menu), Daniella provided a couple of detailed suggestions and her main pick, then she brought over samples to try, her pick was easily the right one. Thanks Daniella, I like trying different brands, great pick. The food was excellent as well, wife went with crab stuffed flounder, big, half went home. My husband and I were just there today at the bar to have a meal. From the start, the service was very poor. We asked for drinks and didn't get the full order. Then, we told the barmaid that we were ready to place our order. She said "okay " and never returned. We saw her eating her own food behind the bar while talking to staff!!! About 5 minutes later the bartender took our order and provided the rest of the drink order. My husband waited at least 10 minutes for a refill on his drink... he had to flag the bartender down to get his attention. When we were done, we told the barmaid we were ready for our bill. Afterwards she spoke to a party at the end of the bar. They ordered drinks. She got their drinks and never gave us our bill for a full 10 plus minutes! Needless to say, we are very disappointed.
