Great and knowledgeable staff and instructor. Went from never owning a gun to qualifying for my LTC in one stop.

They have opened a new indoor handgun range next door to the store named Gun Range Mesquite www.gunrangemesquite. I just used the range and wrote a review. I highly recommend their excellent firearms training instructor, Jerry Johnson of www.texasgunschool.com who is certified by the NRA. I took a personal protection lesson from him and will go back for more. Their gunsmith also did a great job of cleaning up my late father's .45 from WWII. You won't meet a nicer and more helpful group of people. read more

I had been passing by this store for at least a year but never had time to go in, then last week I had extra time and went there specifically to check out the gun range. I didn't get the salesman's name, ( I will next time I go in), but while waiting for him to finish with another customer I saw a target pistol I've been looking for at a price $ 60 less than other stores I've checked in person and on line. I ended up buying that firearm and getting the info I wanted on their range also. This salesman answered my questions, and he was a pleasure to talk to. I will definitely be going back. I've been wanting a new hunting rifle, and I saw one there that looks like it would be just what I need. read more

Will never buy again from this store! They have a number pull system for customers who are next, which they don't use! I pulled a number and waited in their store for almost 30 mins with still no help! Ingot skipped twice but kept my cool because I was told I would be next. Very poor customer service! Despite being the most expensive gun store in the area I still continue to go because of the knowledge a few guys have. But the customer service is trash! I also drove 37 minutes to their store to just walk around for no help. I understand that a few guys were helping other customers but being skipped twice while holding a ticket you told me to pull didn't work. It was very upsetting. So my personal experience is terrible! Just go down where else besides this store. read more

This will be the last FFL transfer I do with The Gun Zone. My firearm was delivered at 9:30am on 2/8 so I assumed that I would have gotten a phone call informing me that my firearm was there for pickup. No phone call so I decided to go pick up the firearm on 2/9 at 10:15am. I was informed that since they did not call me I could not get the firearm. Mind you there were 3 people in the store, and 2 were being helped. As a CHL holder this process should be fast, but 24 hours later my firearm is being held up. It did not seem busy at all in the store, and you would think that you would take care of a repeat customer. I have a extremely busy schedule and this was the only time I could come in to pick up the firearm I ordered without having to wait several days to find time to come back in. read more

I have been buying guns from them for well over a decade. I started buying from them before they had a storefront and sold only at gun shows. For one, they love CZ pistols as much as I do and always have some in stock. I also have not found a place that can beat them on price. Take high end Kimbers and Springfield 1911s. They are around $100 or more cheaper than Cabela's. They also have started doing in house cerakoting which is available on many display guns but can also be done on your gun in various colors and patterns. Even if they don't have what you are looking for they will search to try and get it and give you a price before you plunk down money. They also have a great selection of used and discounted guns. Great all around gun store and my favorite for price, selection and customer service. read more

I have to say that I'm very pleased with the service that I received from this company. I've been in the market for a 22lr semi-automatic pistol for a while now. I'd settled on the Ruger SR-22, having had bad experiences in the past with the Walther P22, and have been cruising gun shows for one for the past couple of months. I'd seen several, but was unwilling to pay what most gun stores were asking. Then I stumbled across The Gun Zone today. Let me give you the short version: They had the lowest price at the gun show. The price was just $13 above the cheapest price I've found on the internet. They let me dry fire the pistol before I purchased it. The unit I dry fired was the specific unit I purchased. It took then less than 3 minutes to finish the NICS check. It took less than 10 minutes from me deciding to buy it to me walking out with it. All in all I'm eminently happy with their service, and will highly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a firearm. Their prices are reasonable, the service is great, and the staff is friendly. read more

Don't go to this range! AVOID these people if you want employees that care that you've walked in their door. Their excuse for not being friendly, was that they were swamped (there were 4 of us). And, yes, that is what it is, an EXCUSE for not being courteous. I arrived early - 10 minutes until 10:00. When I approached the door, I saw the hours listed. So, being the rule follower and not wanting to breathe down anyone's neck, I went back to my car. 3 guys walked in as I sat in my car. (Would have been customer friendly to have an "Open" sign on the door if you plan to open early, but, ok.) I had seen 3 other possible places to spend my money, but this one was most convenient, so I forged ahead. As I walk in, the first guy in line says, "They were open the first time you walked up to the door." Thanks, Pal. I expected to wait my turn, but thanks for rubbing it in. Glad I got here early! I wait and one clerk is at the counter. Finally another comes in. 1 more ahead of me, good. Then, a couple guys come in behind me, and the first guy finishes and his clerk heads over to them. Before even asking the guy in front of me or myself what we need. Did we just get invisible? We wait. A guy steps out of an office somewhere and takes care of the 3rd guy then vanishes. I wait, wait, wait. No one has even said hello, be with you soon... I see the guy in the office and step over and ask if he can answer a few questions. I'm told to go to a different register for my questions. OK. A clerk finally comes to that register and walks past me to shake hands with his buddy. At this point, I get it. My business is not important. I start to leave, and wow, money heading out the door gets noticed! The clerk finally sees me and I tell the guy I didn't think he wanted my business and he said he did so I come back and start asking questions. I'm FEMALE and I'm trying to do a good thing for my husband. Just need someone who gives a rip to give me 10 minutes. After he asks me to wait so he can wait on 2 other guys that come in, I (stupidly) hand over my money for a gift certificate. Apparently making a gift certificate at this establishment takes a PhD because I waited a long time. Maybe he was just enjoying being passive aggressive and making me wait longer. When he's finally taken my money there is not a Thank you, Thanks, no acknowledgment at all. Very sorry way to treat a customer. I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Very poor customer service and over priced. I like to support the little shops so I didn't mind spending a few bucks extra, heck I drove to tyler on a whim to check out a new shop there called Superior Outfitters and ended up buying 2 AR's from them on the spot. So anyways I purchased a cheap $80 reflex red dot sight from The Gun Zone to see if it would work better on my AR pistol than the sig romeo 5 I had for my astigmatism...it didn't and so I went to return and found they charged a 20% restock fee. Same sight can be purchased for $50 online or $60 at Academy. Needless to say they lost a customer. To many other gun shops around that don't have a restock fee and has better customer service. Had they just asked why I wanted to return it and then suggested a different sight they had on their shelf that is a better prism type sight ($400 sight) and treated me a little nicer I would have purchased the other sight from them instead they wanted to argue. The Armory in Mesquite, GT Distributers and Target Masters in garland and grabagun.com located in Coppel has much better service and prices and employees that will actually talk to you and help you find exactly what you need. Will not be returning to this place. The only reason we ever went there was to deal with Rudy who is our gunsmith but after my last encounter with the awful lady who works there I will not come back. I came in to drop off my husband's gun to have some work done on it by Rudy and they ignored me for about 6 mins and then i heard Holly tell her coworker to go clear the little girls gun who is standing at the counter. Now mind you I'm a grown woman but not a huge deal breaker. Her attitude the entire time I was there was horrendous. I left and about 30 mins later my husband calls and tells me it's ready to be picked up. I had told my husband about the incident and he said something to Rudy which in return got back to her. I came back in to pick it up and she confronts me about what I said to my husband and calls me a liar and the entire time I'm waiting for my gun she is making snarky little comments. Rudy does absolutely great work and I recommend him to anyone who needs a gunsmith but I absolutely do not recommend The Gun Zone to anyone who is looking for decent customer service. The way I was treated is certainly not how you treat paying guests. My husband and I are extremely disgusted!! read more

I bought a $50 Gift Certificate to give as a gift in 2013. There was no expiration date on it and I was told at the time I purchased it that it had no expiration date. Today, the recipient of that gift certificate presented it and cash for the purchase of a firearm for a total sale amount of $911. He was called an hour later and told the gift certificate would not be honored because it had been voided. The sales person was friendly and helpful at the time of the sale but when the gift recipient decided to take their business elsewhere and went back to cancel the sale, all staff members were rude and they refused to return the gift certificate. They did however, refund the cash on the firearm purchase but made $50 on the deal because the gift certificate had been purchased and they refused to honor it. I have to ask myself (if I was a business owner) if I would be willing to lose a $900 sale over a $50 gift certificate. Pretty sure the answer to that is "NO". The location in relation to where I live is convenient but you can bet I'll drive right by there on my way to a gun range and store. There are several law enforcement officers in our immediate family who will hear this and they too will drive by and probably tell their coworkers. Buyer beware - they don't honor their gift certificates and I bet they don't honor warranties either. read more

I attended the High Caliber Gun Show in Conroe, Texas, on 01/10/16. During the show, I was helping a friend purchase a hand gun. We stopped by the "The Gun Zone" booth to look at some handguns. The two staff members behind the table were reluctant to help us with a hand gun that we wanted to look at and were very curt with their answers when we asked questions about the weapon. Based on their rude behavior, we continued to another gun dealer's booth had found the same weapon at a reduced price. I have never experienced at a gun show a negative and unhelpful attitude as I did at the "The Gun Zone" booth. read more
