I've been looking for a good spot that serves Indian food since we moved back to Tarrant county, and we have found it with The Gurkha Bar & Grill. We also wanted to bring my brother's fiancée, who is Nepali, as momo/dumplings are her favorite food. To start off, we ordered a couple Gurkha Gorilla cocktails (includes rum with mango syrup) and mango lassi (like a mango milkshake, except with yogurt. Both were really good; the lassi is almost like a dessert. We got a couple orders of chicken pakora, like little fried chicken nuggets with a sprinkled with slightly spicy seasoning. We also ordered Jhol momo and sizzler momo. The Jhol momo is an order of 6 dumplings served in a warm and spicy red sauce. The other order of momo had 10 dumplings with a savory sauce on the side. We thought the sizzler momo were going to be pan-fried; what came out were steamed dumplings. Maybe there was a miscommunication on the order, as I do see now from other yelpers that they do serve pan-fried momos. However, that wasn't an issue because my fiancé loved the savory sauce that was served with these momo. I thought both we delicious, but I did prefer the spicier Jhol sauce. We were 2 couples who couldn't make up our minds, so both ordered The Gurkha Special Thaali. I love ordering this type of platter so you get a plentiful selection of flavors and curries to eat with rice and fresh, hot naan. The best thing I ate was the spicy shrimp curry, while my fiancé's favorite was the hearty and tender goat curry. My brother's preference is always tikka masala with naan, and his fiancé loved the momo, dal and carrot dessert. The food is super flavorful! Everything we ate was delicious and we would order again. This place used to be really good but now the taste has changed. The beer are cheap perhaps due to COVID but the food is priced as like most Indian restaurants in Dfw metroplex. They don't do any substitute. So rice with curries will stay and you will have to pay additional for bread, something typical Asian restaurants don't do. Usually most let you substitute. I've always been a fan of this place until our last couple visits. We order the same thing every time. I get chicken tika masala very spicy and my husband gets the lamb extremely spicy and we order 2 naan breads. Unfortunately this place seems to be a little bit of a toss up on if it will be good quality or not. I think we've had too many not good times unfortunately so we will try somewhere else next time we need Indian food. The lamb is good one time and the next time it's disgustingly tough. On top of that we've been getting all sauce and no chicken or lamb. I think I counted 4 pieces of meat in each of our meals. Tucked in a strip mall next to Kroger, this place always swells amazing! It could use a facelift, but the menu is simple and less daunting than some places! They have a cute little bar area and incredibly friendly staff. Definitely decent prices and great appetizer options. Veggie samosas were big but filling was very mush-like and less identifiable vegetables and could have had a deeper flavor. Lamb was flavorful and tender but I was wishing for more. Especially because the flavor/rice of the lamb biryani was so spice forward it was hard to taste anything else. They asked and we said mild, but it still was too spicy to eat (even for my spice loving bf) why ask then? A little hard to grade when we couldn't handle eating all the food, but I'd definitely try it again especially for apps! read more

This being a new establishment (not previously different restaurant) is neat clean and all utensils, kitchen are top notch clean. Menu covers a wide range of food items. The meat lover thali is by far the best bet if you dont know what to get. Very moderately priced dinks and tasty cocktails. Catering experience: we ordered catering for a group of 50 people. 'Start rant' Yet another example of a hopelessly inaccurate and misleading Yelp rating, for an eatery that is hopelessly inauthentic and delusional. I wanted to be fair, and I really hoped that Gurkha would be an oasis in the mostly bleak DFW dining scene. Hopeful enough to Uber from the heart of Downtown Dallas to the nondescript "city of Euless", 20 miles away. I was wrong. This eatery is basically a canteen of sorts with the obligatory buffet of what passes for Indian food here - the red stuff, the yellow stuff, the fried stuff, the rice stuff, and the "naan bread". But I wasnt there for that. I was there for what Gurkha promised to be some authentic Nepali/Indo-Chinese food, namely the Momos, Chicken Chowmein, Chilli Chicken, and Chicken Manchurian. Having grown up in East India, these were staples, and many eateries had competent Nepalese cooks tossing up delicious Indo-Chinese food in big woks, on open flames. Gurkha however proceeded to serve me one of the most bizarre lunches I've had in this country - and I've had some strange things that have been passed off as Indian, Chinese, or broadly, Asian. We were asked to sit anywhere we wanted, and I made it clear that I wasnt interested in their budget buffet, and would be ordering a la carte. Shortly afterwards, the lone server, a Nepalese girl arrived with a jug of ice water, which we refused - two bottles of room temperature water appeared promptly, which I appreciated. We ordered a plate of the steamed chicken momo, fried chicken momo, chicken chowmein, chilli chicken, and diet coke (no ice). 20 minutes of waiting later the two plates of chicken momos appeared, accompanied by a bizarre yellow sauce that looked and felt like hollandaise. Now any self respecting Indian or Nepali will be able to tell you that momos are always served with a red chilli garlic sauce. But we were hopeful. A bite into each variant of the momos, and we knew we were in trouble. It had the ground chicken filling. But it was a light yellow, betraying the fact that the mince had been curried and cooked with turmeric and other spices that NEVER go into a momo. The wrapper was fairly thin, and our hunger overcame our disappointment. This was not going to be the meal we'd come all the way for, but we were hopeful. Once again, I was wrong. What came next was not just plain bad, but also a travesty. The chilli chicken, which promised chicken fried with green chillies (NOT Jalapenos, no one eats that stuff in India, China or Nepal), peppers in a soy sauce turned out to be fried chicken with no green chillies, stir fried in something that tasted overwhelmingly of ketchup, with a few dried red chillies. It was nothing like what we wanted, and it was nothing like what it should be. But then again, we were in Euless, and no one cared. The nail in the coffin though was the "chicken chowmein". This classic dish is basically thin egg noodles, wok fried on a high flame with green onion, eggs, julienned vegetables, soy sauce, cooking vinegar, pepper, and a dash of MSG (Oh don't get started about that. It's perfectly safe in moderate quantities). What Gurkha served us was yellow, with no scallions, or eggs, or soy, or vinegar, or pepper. Instead, it had some large shreds of cabbage, and cumin seeds. Now I do lower my expectations when I eat Asian food in America, but whole cumin seeds in chowmein is the culinary equivalent of Philly cream cheese in a kale smoothie. It's just wrong. But the cuminere wasn't the worst part. It was something that I'd not noticed till my horrified spouse pointed it out. We were eating Spaghetti. Yes, al dente, durum wheat spaghetti which had been passed off as chowmein. Imagine if you walked into PF Changs and got fettuccine in your lomein, or lomein in your spaghetti alfredo at Olive Garden. The diet coke still hadnt arrived (and our awesome server proceeded to fill the glass with ice anyway), so we asked her to bring us the culinary genius in the kitchen. It ended up being the gentleman who seated us. He straight up admitted to the spaghetti fraud. He then proceeded to righteously defend the chowmein and chilli chicken, insisting that it was straight from Nepal and India which is why it seemed so alien to us. That likely works with the majority of patrons who have no baseline of what any of these items taste/smell/look like. To be fair, he did have the good sense to take the items of our cheque, which seemed logical given that about 90% of both remained uneaten. We paid for the momos and beverage, and left the eatery, feeling a mixture of regret, disappointment, unease, and annoyance. For those who dont know, the Gurkhas are revered in India for their courage, valor, resolve, bravery, and integrity. It pains me to say that the Gurkha Bar & Grill is a bit of a blemish on its namesake. 'End rant' read more

Great Indian/Nepali food from a very friendly local family. The Chicken 65 and Chili Paneer are my favorite. I have been here over 20 times and always had great, friendly service and never a single issue. I take that back, one time my dish was not spicy enough and they quickly apologized, took it back, and came out with the dish to my liking. We decided to try this place after a few folks mentioned it was good on Nextdoor. Even one of the Kroger staff members started extolling its virtues to us this evening before he knew we were going there. I'd say the hype is worth it. Their food quality is excellent, their service was top-notch and the atmosphere is nice. It's not a fancy place but it's well lit, brightly decorated and spacious. It's a family run business that opened only 9 days ago. Onto the food: 1. They brought out papadom with chutneys - sweet tamarind and mint (neither are spicy). The papadoms were a bit spicy for my taste. 2. Appetizer: chicken pakora - sizzling, spicy and fresh. We ate them with the chutneys (PICTURED) 3. Drinks: water and one Gurkha mixed drink. The mixed drink which includes mango syrup, rum, lemon was delicious! 4. Main: sizzling chicken Momo's and vegetable chow mein. We requested mild spice but we still found it a bit spicy for our tastes so we asked for lemon and more tamarind chutney. I started off liking the chow mein but as time went on I liked it less. Maybe I didn't know what to expect but I found it too saucey. The Momo's had a light sauce on them which was perfect.(PICTURED) 5. Dessert: we had not intended to order dessert because we were full! But as we mentioned to the staff that we found the meal spicy, they encouraged us to get dessert. As we wanted to try it, we gave in and split a kheer (rice pudding). It was delicious ! (PICTURED) Now we were stuffed. This is a lot of food for two women. I'd definitely go again but chose something else to try. But as a recommendation, I'd get the Momo's, the Ghurka, and the kheer again. The chicken pakora was good too but I probably wouldn't get the vegetable chow mein. I came on a Saturday with my husband, the place was busy. They have a banquet hall and had party on the hall. The waiter came and we got table right away, he did informed us due to being busy at the hall it might take long time for food( so nice being informative) . He did mention us that thali the sampler plate was not available due to being busy. We did understand that, new family owned restaurants with great food can be over crowded sometimes. After looking at the menu we decided to try their momo and chicken tikka masala with garlic naan bread it was so different and tested so good we decide to order one more to go too. My experience was so good at this place thatI will definitely come back and do highly recommend this place. Amazing! I'm just going to start there. Went in for lunch today and had the most amazing meal. We ordered dal soup and a salad as an appetizer, then chicken vindaloo and chicken korma for our meal along with the chicken naan and the basket of naan. First off, the soup came out piping hot and very flavorful. Then they bring out the naan. Hot, flavorful and oh so wonderful. Then it was followed up with the Korma and the vindaloo with basmati rice. And those were soooo good! I was so full but wanted to keep eating because it was a fantastic meal. They closed at 3 today, Sunday, so I'm really glad we got the opportunity to try them out as I'll be back. Food that good deserves multiple visits. I am a little torn about sharing this gem with the public! Want to keep it to myself! We did date night here and ordered a little of everything and definitely were impressed! The chicken was fall off the bone and I was unsure if I would like goat.. but it was surprisingly great. The curry sauce spiciness was made to order.
