Loving the new Gyro Project location. Friendly staff and delicious food. I got the bowl with beef and lamb, fries (which are seasoned amazingly) with tsaziki and baba ganouj and arugula. They have a desert menu with fresh cookies, boxed cookies and froyo. You can build rewards with the app and it gets 20% off. The space is more hrs. And go with some tables and chairs. Thank you Amanda for your help.

OG Froyo

Vibe/ambiance: quick eats Service: standard Items ordered: - OG froyo: the froyo was too icey for me

What a lovely establishment, very friendly service and you're treated when you walk in. I love you can see them make your order and you can select want you want. The chicken/lamb gyro was good. Instead of fries on top I was able to substitute with Mediterranean salad. It was very filling and delish. It very clean and there are seats to dine in. I recommend this place.

This is my Birthday Weekend Celebration with my lovely daughters in New York. So, we got a gyro chicken and lamb sandwich. The BEST!!!!? The service was wonderful and atmosphere clean and beautiful! If in NY and near 569 Lexington, stop by.

An apparently nicely kept store. Stopped by their 51st st location after teasing myself with their online menu for hrs. Went there fantasizing on sinking my teeth in their pork belly. Their service was slow. There weren't that many people at the store being that the lunch rush was already over. The attendant that was helping the two customers in front of me seemed a bit overwhelmed with what the customers wanted (which was simply chicken skewers). I told the attendant I wanted a bowl with pork belly (per their own instructions, that's what you tell them first) twice... then someone else takes over and she asks me what sides I want... so, I chose my sides... to the, for the 3rd time, tell them what protein I want: Pork Belly... she looks around and she says they don't have it. Supposed to be a limited time item and they advertise on their website and there's even a sign hanging on their sneeze guard that says "PORK BELLY". I told them to cancel and I walked out. I refuse to settle for "whatever else" they have. A waste of my time.

Froyo

This is a review for the froyo only: I absolutely love the froyo at the upper westside Gyro Project, it's actually my favorite in the city. But I was extremely disappointed by the difference between the east side locations froyo and the west side's. Every time I've been to The Gyro Project on the upper west side, the froyo has been creamy, smooth and a bright white. It was instantly apparent the upper east side's version was a stark comparison - it was icy, watery, a yellowish off white color and lacking the quality that I've come to know at the upper west side location. Such a let down, both establishments are less than a mile apart, but they have drastically different froyo experiences. Don't come here if you're looking for froyo, do yourself a favor and go to the upper west side location, it's truly worth the trek!

Veggie falafel bowl with beans and lemon potatoes

Had a lovely dinner last night at this new restaurant. I had a vegetarian bowl and it was delicious. What stood out the most, unlike other new similar restaurants, is that the individual ingredients stood out all on their own. For example, the lemon potatoes were perfectly tender with just the right amount of lemon. The giant beans also had a nice texture. The falafel, which I had baked instead of fried, was very satisfying . My favorite was the tzatziki sauce. It was really thick and tasted amazing with the warm pita. Also, nothing was overly salty, which was a welcome distinction. All in all, a great meal and a heck of a bargain for only $15. George and the rest of the crew were very pleasant. I almost want to go over now and grab a side of beans and tzatziki. Hmmmm.

Chicken souvlaki + pita + tzatziki

Have been to this location of The Gyro Project a ton of times and always have an amazing experience!! It's a takeout restaurant (or quick sit down) but the food is high quality and tastes so much better than other Greek places around the city (especially love the tzatziki, pita, and chicken souvlaki). You can also tell the staff really cares about the customers and food - Ignacio always takes care of my bf and I when we go and is eager to chat with everyone!! Pic of pita/chicken included (doesn't do it justice)

Mine was rich and creamy and I'm not usually a grassy matcha person but I actually really liked the grassy matcha here. It was so smooth and wasn't bitter or overpowering at all. The ratio of strawberry to matcha was also perfect - not too sweet and I could still taste the matcha. Also, they whisk the matcha right in front of you which I thought was a nice touch. You can tell the matcha is fresh and not just powder dumped in and stirred. This is definitely one of my go-to spots for matcha now!

I had the grassiest matcha (fuku no midori) prepared with just water, and it was the most refreshing drink I could've asked for during this unbearably hot summer. I came back a few more times in the same week to sample more of their menu. Surprisingly, my least favorite was the strawberry matcha latte. I think the fruit obscures the subtle flavors in the matcha and I recommend getting a plain matcha or a matcha latte instead. The shop itself is very tiny - almost standing room only - with 2 barstools by the window. Each drink is made to order and it seemed like there was only one, maybe two people preparing drinks, so if there's a large group then the drinks will take some time to come out.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
