    Came here as it has been in the neighborhood for awhile and I never ate their food ever before and I've lived in the area for over a decade. I decided to give it a shot. To my surprise there was a lot of people in the restaurant. It felt like a local spot. The place has a few indoor seating, but not too much. It felt very eclectic the interior decorations. The food was alright, but the service was better. I ordered the steak & egg burrito which was good. The portion was huge so it definitely filled me up. The pico de gallo sauce is what made the food. I also ordered the special weekend drink which was really strong, it had a big bang for the buck. The tiramisu at the end for dessert wasn't bad either. I may or may not return depending upon my mood.

    A go-to spot for tasty Mexican food and drinks. I recommend their Aguas Frescas, always so delicious!! The tacos placeros, mole enchiladas, and tortas are my favorite. If you come on the weekend for brunch there may be a bit of a wait. But overall the staff is super friendly and attentive.

    Made our way here on a Friday afternoon for heated outdoor seating during brunch. Plenty of tables available in the enclosed heated section as we got a two-seater off to the side. Giant menu has all the favorites you'd expect with some brunch specials thrown in as well. Decided on the Carne Enchilada Torta ($11) to go along with a Bloody Mary ($5), and a Coffee ($2). Drinks come out first - a strong hit of spice in the bloody mary, but not overpowering. Torta is a well pressed, sandwiching layers of beef, cheese, salsa, and veggies. Super hearty and a wonderful balance of all flavors - no hot sauce necessary. Dish also comes with a handful of thin-cut fries, that are not overly salted. Server here is friendly and efficient, taking care of all the tables by herself. ?Will likely come back to try all the other stuff on the menu.

    I've been in this place twice and they offer great mexican breakfast! Its located in a residential area in Queens. The place is cute with their colorful decor and I recommend going there early around 10am on weekends to get seated right away. I got carrot juice for drink and it was refreshing. I also tried their hot chocolate before and it was really good too. My bf got their coffee and they gave you a big jar of coffee. For food I ordered the french toast, it has strawberry, banana & blueberries. They put the sauce on the side that taste a little sweet and a little sour. I really enjoyed this food. The bread taste so good and not overwhelming. My bf got the omelette and side order of bacon. He enjoyed everything! Huge serving of food. Surely you'll be completely satisfied with the serving and taste! My new spot for brunch!

    Love this place. One taco was big enough to fill my stomach and it was only $3.50! I tried the Chorizo-Chicken taco, which had everything I wanted: a spicy kick, cilantro, guac, well-seasoned chicken, and a taco holder. The Banana split waffle here is also amazing and not too sweet. I tried the Spinach omelette as well and it was good but also a taste you can find anywhere in any decent diner or cafe. Finally, the orange juice is a MUST here - it's so addicting! But while the other items on the menu are reasonably priced if not cheap, one orange juice (regular size) is about $5.50 and the large size is ~$10. Regardless, you must try! Most highly recommend.

    I was in a mood for Mexican breakfast. So I drove to this Woodside location with my mother and had a wonderful breakfast the owner/server was a treat to talk to. Extremely friendly, kind and considerate. I started with the huevos ranchero, a side of chorizo and some guacamole. It was served with rice and beans and a side of sauces. I wish they had something just a tad more spicy on the side of sauces. But it's good nonetheless. my mom ordered the pancakes which consisted of three giant pancakes and a side of crispy bacon. The side of orange juice was the size of a carafe quite large. I decided to bring home three tamales for my daughter. I look forward to trying their torts and other dishes. Much enjoyed, Thanks

    So the first time I went here was for brunch last year. Between the brunch menu and the regular menu, there is plenty to choose from. We put in our order and proceeded to wait 45 MINUTES and our food still had not come. There were other tables (some coming in after us) that were getting food but after a few reminders to the waitress, still nothing and we were on a schedule. We ended up taking it to go because we couldn't deal with it. After reading reviews that were positive we decided to give it a try on a nice sunny day last week. The crowd was light since it was a Thursday afternoon and we sat in their outdoor seating area. The food we got was pretty good. Grilled tilapia tacos were delicious. Mushroom and pablano quesadilla was great. The chicken mole burrito was a little bland with a lot of rice. The waitress was lacking a little attention to us because we were outside but not as bad as the first time. We would go back again and definitely a great outdoor seating place!

The food here was very mild. It could Haab a little more spice and still not be too spicy. But if you want some utterly delicious Mexican fare, Haab a little read of my review and I think you'll be very Haaby that you did. I ordered the Huevos Tapatio like everyone told me to. It was *amaaaaaaazing*. It has bits of chorizo and has crispy tostada discs underneath. Greasy and wet and delicious. I didn't think I could like something with eggs and home fry-ish things this much as I'm not a breakfast person, but I absolutely do. It reminded me of a sort of Mexican-esque frittata or skillet of some sort, once it all mixed together, which is inevitable since it's such a crumbly and runny and greasy and juicy concoction. It is beautifully presented, and tastes even better than it looks (in that way, it's just like Jando). I forgot to take a pic until I was halfway through it, as you can see. But there are plenty of other pix where you can see it in all its glory. They're all over the internet for example. So are pix of my thingy, in case you're interested. They now have a location in Brooklyn and a proper restaurant with a different name elsewhere. But I'll always love this little adorable original better, in the heart of residential Sunnyside, a very quiet area that nobody really visits, in a little neighborhood I'd never been to, before I came here to Haab some Huevos. The service was amazing. I'm looking forward to coming back soon and trying different things. I wish we could Haab a place like this in Buffalo, I asked my Uncle if he thought Tapatio would be a good addition to Buffalo, and he said "I'll come and visit you soon, and you can Tap-a-tio as much as you want." I have no idea what he meant by that, but if you read my Uncle Gussy's review earlier today then you probably understand why I am now very, very afraid. I think I need to learn Karate or Tae Kwan Do to protect myself. Or I need to take Jando. I mean Judo. Typo. My Uncle is married to a girl named Ruth, so you'd think he'd leave me alone. But once she is out of sight, he starts up again. He never tries anything when she's in the room. But once she's gone... sometimes, he tells me to "clap along if I can feel it" in a room without a Ruth.

    This part of Woodside / Sunnyside gets so little traffic, its more likely than not the only people that come to the Haab are locals. They're the lucky ones, as this is one of the hood's biggest gems, a small but delicious eatery offering comfort Mexican food and a brunch worthy of being among the best. The original in Williamsburg is good, but the Woodside location is easily their best of the two. Sitting on the corner of 48th Ave at the end of a string of Latin businesses, the Haab looks like a small cafe from the outside. There is usually a TV playing soccer games or Sabado Gigante (#1), and tables that can sit 14 people total. Along the rims of the window is a cascade of Jarrito bottles, paper ornaments hanging from the ceiling, and Mexican art along the walls making for some very interesting decor. The service is warm and friendly. While Spanish fare much better in these parts, rest assured the staff speaks English. Delivery is available, they take credit cards, and the most everything on the menu is good. That said, brunch for me is where its at. Try to score some of their tamales, which seem to be freshest in the morning. Huevos con chorizo (sausage) or nopales (cactus) are solid dishes, but the show stopper is definitely their huevos tapatios. An over easy egg on a bed of chorizo bits, on top of a crispy tostada. Combined with their famous chipotle mayo, the bite is a beautiful mess of runny egg yolk, spicy chorizo, finished with the crunch of the tostada, The end result is a foodgasm best experienced during any hungry morning / afternoon. For me, the Haab will remain one of the best spots to grab a casual bite in all of Sunnyside / Woodside. Delivery is quick, but the best experience to take it all in (the music, the service, the people, the *food*) is dine in house.     It's a nice divey and authentic type of Mexican place. Mom and pop shop at its finest. If this was located closer to the city instead of nowhere land, I'm sure this place will kill it. The Mexican corn was one of the best I had. Not drenched in crema fresca like other places. Grilled to perfection. He guac is fresh but it lacked salt and lime. I just ended up altering the flavor myself. The lettuce gives off a nice presentation but pretty annoying if you want to scrap the bowl clean. The steak quesadillas were recommended and it did look good but it was a little bit on the salty side. Also, the steak IMO wasn't seasoned with anything other than salt and pepper. One issue was the orange juice. $4 for a glass of OJ? The OJ cost as much as a taco? Now as I write this, I'm rather bothered by this place than impressed. This is not the single $ sign it deserves. It's more like $$.

    Okay, so here comes an uncomfortable truth - The Haab is a good restaurant, but it's a bit boring. Before some frat bro goes in there and jumps on my spine (how dare you), let's have a dose of reality. Alright, so when it came to my evaluation of Mexican joints, I have 4 categories. On the very bottom is Taco Bell, or any eatery that serve deep fried saddles of corn slathered with shredded lettuce, mechanically separated meat slime, shredded cheddar and "picante salsa" pretending to be Mexican It has as much right to call itself Mexican as Panda Express have to Chinese food - you might enjoy it for its craptitude or low cost, but never associate it back to the country that it was ganked from, because that shit is foreign to them. Next category is what I call Gringo - the stuff they serve to bros in the Cancun all-inclusives (hey, I am in Mexico and this is what they are serving me, so it must be for real, right?). Huevos Rancheros with coffee on the side, or some kind of aquas frescas that works well in cocktail mixers. Maybe an Enchilada slathered with sour cream (not crema) and half a jar of Goya mole sauce. Abuletas (Mexican grandmas) will slap the shit out of you for that, and most of your Mexican friends will nod politely while laughing about it with their fellow Mexican friends. On the Chinese food scale it's a bit like eating at Mission Chinese or Hot Joy - it might borrow the right ideas, and it might taste great, but don't you dare think of it as suggestive of the cuisine it's borrowing from. The 3rd category is what I usually start with, and I'll call it the Barrio - the neighborhood joint in a Mexican neighborhood that is still rather gringo friendly - they have Tamarindos, flor de Jamaica and Horchatas in the Aquas frescas dispensers (usually off a syrup or a mix), and they got Postobon and Jarritos in the fridge. but they also got the real tacos (small tortilla, onions and cilantro, well flavored protein, choice of rojo or verde) and they know how to make a cemita or a torta sandwich. Solid good food, but it's not meant to challenge your boundaries. It's like ordering takeout from the local corner Chinese joint. It's hiding the regional variations from you, and you are not aware of how low a human will go to feed itself. It might be "authentic" in some sense, but it's a shallow knowledge. The next and final category is what I nickname the "Santeria". Here you start seeing the full breadth and depth of Mexican cooking, with ingredients for tacos like Buche (stomach), Suadero (flank steak), Oraje (ears), Chupalines (grasshoppers), Chivo (goat), flor de calabaza (squash flowers) and Huitlacoche (corn smut), all of those are exceeding delicious when prepared with fresh ingredients. Your establishment will offer up raw radish slices (to munch on) and fried dried chiles (because you need that), and you can get a bowl of pozole (hominy and pork soup, Aztec style with Rosemary) there. It's like going to a Cantonese seafood restaurant or a Szechuan joint in Flushing. You get offal and weird seafood in the menu, and often strange preparations (like pickling crab in Shaoxing wine) that tests your culinary meddle - you want full culinary immersion? This is about as close as it can get without the need for a passport. Think of the 4 categories as like experiencing Mexican food in a Midwest shopping mall food court, the local Chipotle's, the local Mexican joint in Ridgewood/Greenpoint/Billyburg, and 5th Avenue in Sunset park. So given those categories, The Haab is closer to the Barrio than the Gringo - foodstuff familiar to gringos, and maybe a few new discoveries, but nothing mindblowing. Sometimes you might see Tamales and Champurrados offered up, but that's just there to give the idea of "something different". Of course, the question is whether you see the neighborhood Mexicanos popping in - my guess is very likely no: No one with Mexican heritage nearby will spend $11 on Huevos Rancheros, especially when places on 82nd Street can do it cheaper. Plus they will usually just get a coffee with a bun at the local Panderia and work on weekends. Think of The Haab this way - it's an American brunch joint with Mexican influenced decor and some Mexican dishes (solid cooking, my wife's Enchilada Suiza and my Quesadillas both turned out well), but if you invite your local friends they'll tell you to hit a better spot that has more interesting things and a smaller pricetag (like the Colombian bakeries all over Sunnyside - El Pilon is a great place). That is not to say that the Haab is a bad restaurant - far from it. If I got company and just so happen to be in the neighborhood, I'll totally go there (as long as there is a free table). Just don't forget that there is an entire city out there with more interesting Mexican fare, and it's always a good idea to look further down the horizon.

For dinner, I had the shrimp mofongo, and my boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs. Both dishes were flavorful, cooked perfectly, and exceeded our expectations. We had such a great experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommend!
