Great drinks and filling tacos. Who doesn't love a slushie machine? The seasonal drinks are top notch.
Don't come here. $6 for a taco without flavor. Trust me go to a food truck or st James deli, iykyk. I was very shocked how tough the streak was, the onions weren't all that great either. I felt like I was eating something a child made. The service was quick thats about it. The only reason I am giving one star is because hours later I was experiencing food poisoning. Little did I know they had a B rating. The lime and sauces didn't make this taco feel good either. Definitely go elsewhere.
amazing happy hour deal and though drinks were good, i wasnt super impressed by the tacos. got the campechano, shrimp, pescado, and la bestia and my favorite was probably the pescado. it is a huge plus you can get corn tortillas instead of flour. tacos were pretty basic but cant complain for $3. service is nice, space is nice especially when the weather is nice.
Coming from AZ I miss my Nana's tacos and she's from Sonora Mexico and these tacos are closest thing to her cooking. (Possibly better but we can't tell her!) highly recommend trying these

Some great tacos and a few items which were inconsistent, but still a good experience overall. We came as a party of four and shared 10 tacos across everyone. Surprisingly, my personal favorites were the various breakfast tacos, with Buen Dia being my favorite. The grilled fish taco was also very juicy and tender. Howvee, they might have had an off day, as our chicken and al pastor tacos were a bit dry. The seasoning was still decent on them. The server was very kind and provided us with very extensive descriptions as we chose the tacos. Would love to come back and try again.

It maybe because this was a delivery or because I'm used to California tacos but these were just okay to me. Hopefully I can try these again in person and give it another try. The highlight was the chips and guacamole which were fresh.

This chic little cantina manages the impossible balancing act of feeling authentically Mexican while also serving minimalist cool-girl energy (like Frida Kahlo wandered into a design magazine and opened a taqueria.) Great service. Great location. Great prices. The vibe is brightly-lit and buzily intimate, the kind of place where you sip something citrusy and feel very *worldly* about it. The food portions are just the right size--indulgent without tipping into regret, and the perfect for a "let's just grab a bite" that accidentally turns into two rounds and a celebratory mezcal. Oh. And did I mention it is Happy Hour Tacos every day from 3-5 except Saturdays? But the real showstopper: the tortillas. Handmade. On-site. By actual humans. You can watch the magic happen in the behind-the-glass kitchen and taste the difference immediately (pillowy, warm, alive.) Add perfectly seasoned fillings, bright salsas, and prices that don't make you clutch your pearls, and suddenly you're planning both your next casual snack stop. This is Astoria doing tacos right.
Enjoyed dinner with a friend at El Lado Taco! Right by the 30th Ave stop (N,R lines) which was convenient. The food was all delish. I really enjoyed the sides of esquites and guac which were both shareable potions. I got full on 3 tacos. I prefer seafood to red meat and I loved the fish taco. The shrimp taco was great to and was chock-full of ingredients! I was intrigued by "The Beast" taco (aka La Bestia). It had a generous helping of meat so I think meat-lovers would enjoy this, but personally wasnt one I'd order again! There's ample seating of dinner tables and high chairs that also have outlets. It was not busy at all, so it wwas really nice to have the restaurant to myself to dine-in. I imagine it's nice to have a breakfast there and can even get some work done in the mornings!
Absolutely thrilled this place opened in Astoria! As someone who loves Mexico City, I can vouch that these tacos are as close as you get to the same quality and flavor. They are a new restaurant on the busy block, but I've loved all of their offerings and there is always something new to look forward to on the menu! Their breakfast tacos are superb, I wish they served them all day! There are tons of vegetarian options that are fantastic using mushrooms, cactus, eggs, beans, and vegetables. The fresh tortillas and salsas really perfect the flavor profile and I've loved the shrimp and fish options they recently added! Their corn tortilla is vegetarian and I think flour tortillas have lard. Highly recommend this little joint for some of the best tacos you'll find in NYC! Will be coming here for years to come!

Great new spot to have near us! El Lado does CDMX-style tacos and they do them better than a certain buzzy celebrity chef spot in Williamsburg. I love that they do both flour and corn tortillas, both made in-house. I've long lamented the lack of quality flour tortillas in New York but El Lado is fighting the good fight. My fiancé and I hit this place up for dinner and ordered a slew of tacos: the al pastor, the gaonera, the campechano, and the costillas. Each one was great and we're definitely coming back asap to try the breakfast selection too. The sauces are also amazing and a bit more unique than typical taqueria offerings. The chipotle in particular is packed with smoky flavor. Best of all, the prices are reasonable - $4.25 per lunch/dinner taco and $3.25 for breakfast ones - and each taco is sizeable too. We each had three and were comfortably full. The employee was also eager to help and hear any feedback. This shot up to our top 5 spots in the city and we'll be back many more times, I'm sure.
17 dollars ($28 with charges and tip) for the smallest container of pozole and soggy tostadas. Food was sub par. Do not recommend. Plenty of other Mexican spots in the neighborhood that are actually worth it. I recommend Riviera Maya.

INCREDIBLE SPOT! I love all of the options you get on 30th but this one takes the cake for quick, affordable, flavorful authentic Mexican food! I ordered for pickup because of how busy it was indoors but there is a lot of seating both table and bar. My favorite item were the birria tacos they were the perfect blend of crunch and soft mush. Perfect spot to stop at! Great to meet friends for drinks and tacos! Lots of shareable options! read more
The inside of the location was super cute, and I was really hoping that I was gonna like this place because I live right around the corner. The margaritas were good, but the tacos lacked flavor. The shrimp taco was really good, but other than that, everything else was just meh. I was really disappointed about the steak taco because the steak was flimsy and just no taste whatsoever. The service was good. The guy was attentive. Not 100% sure I will be back though. read more

I did not have food on this visit. I did partake in the cocktails. My margarita was very tasty not over the top, just right. The server greats you as soon as you enter the restaurant. That was a plus for me!! I enjoyed the decor for the small friendly inviting restaurant. They have cellphone charging stations if needed. Just glancing over the menu I was getting a little hungry. read more

Been here a few times now and the quality and the cost continues to exceed all expectations.. they are not skimping on the quantity of eggs in their breakfast tacos despite egg prices increasing - their prices are still low. There's plenty of new things on the menu including fish, shrimp, chicken and mixed meat tacos and they are all fantastic - especially the grilled fish taco. They offer bottomless coffee, free with 3 breakfast tacos - it's such a great deal for the neighborhood. This will definitely be in my regular rotation of local eats. read more

Yet another New Mexican in Astoria. It seems there's a new one opening every month. But this place is different because they focus on tacos only. That's it. All you can get. With this focus they are able to pull off a super quality taco unmatched in Astoria (or pretty much anywhere in Queens). They make their tortillas fresh to order in either flour or corn. Both are good but being they are Mexico City style, it's the corn that blew me away. They do breakfast tacos all day too and they open early for a breakfast I would take over a BEC any day of the week. They have alcohol too but I haven't tried any yet. Otherwise it's tacos only. And that's perfectly ok with me. I hope they survive on a tough stretch if 30th Ave for restaurants I only took off one star due to under seasoning of everything. Mas sal! read more

Overpriced tacos and an unimaginative concept for a taco fast food bar? I honestly can't see how they will last very long with so many taco trucks nearby along 30th Avenue. Was it worth the experience? Not sitting up front and ordering a very small portion of special tacos was not great. Still, the restaurant was clean, and the counter service was friendly. read more

Great happy hour, awesome tasting tacos! Al pastor is better than chicken that was a little on a drier side. Drinks tasty and good amounts of alcohol, just enough to get tipsy. Great service, attentive and prompt. I like the decor of the place, reminded me of San Diego trendy taco places. read more

El Lado Taco 5 We were the only customers in the restaurant as it was only 4:30pm. The restaurant is super clean and I loved the ambiance. Our bar tender Jorge let me have a sip of the horchata slushy to make sure I liked it before I ordered and boy can I tell you... it was super delicious!!!! My husband usually doesn't like horchata but after I shared my sip, we ended up ordering 2 horchata slushies. Now onto the Happy Hour Tacos... every single one of the 3 were delicious... mixed vegetables, al pastor, and chicken. We ended up ordering 1 of each to start... but ended up order 5 more making it a total of 8 and we were both pretty stuffed. The flour tortillas were on another level!!! Cooked in lard and had a fantastic taste. I have never had tacos like that before. The lady was making fresh flour and corn tortillas right in the clear glass window for you to watch and see. The mixed vegetable taco was charred and grilled to perfection and it had cauliflower, onion and mushrooms inside. The chicken meat was dark thigh meat, so it was super juicy and you can taste the deeply marinated flavor that was soaked overnight. The Al Pastor taco was amazing!!! The pineapple chunks were so well charred, and then lightly dashed with Tajin powder. Our Favorite!!! My husband usually does not like Mexican food, but my gosh was he impressed with the tacos and the flour tortillas. We both do not like corn tortillas ever, but this place has totally changed our minds because the corn tortillas were quite thin, flaky crispy and super flavorful so now we will be open to coming back and eating more corn tortilla tacos. If you are ever in the neighborhood, please swing by and give it a try. read more

Ordered pickup on a whim, I'm so happy I did! Steak taco was delicious and so was the shrimp!! I ate the shrimp before I thought to take a picture. The guy was so nice inside and the place is cute! Looking forward to dining in here .. hot sauce was so good! The orange one has a nice Smokey flavor and the green is a nice hot habanero... so yummy!! read more

The type of place you might actually delay recommending to friends and reviewing bc you don't want it to blow up so much that you can't get in! But seriously, a wonderful small place with a focused menu. Breakfast tacos are the standout, and there's a great variety. Well-cooked vegetables work really well in the dishes. The corn tortillas remain moist and soft without falling apart. Small details were appreciated such as a taco with beans was plated with the beans on top of the other ingredients, so as to not make the tortilla soggy (or so assumed). Service was busy, as they (undoubtedly) get more popular, I hope they can keep the team well-supported. Appreciate that the menu and the staff clearly caveat that the flour tortillas contain manteca/lard. And that they've set up their POS system to calculate tip percentages on the total before taxes, as customary. Unfortunately, many restaurants lack transparency and a sense of customary decency in fees, so these things really matter to those who appreciate upfront honesty. It simply makes you want to return, support the business, and continue to tip over the suggested percentages. read more

Newly opend taco spot in Astoria that offers handmade fresh tortillas everyday. The vibe is modern with touch of Mexico City. The menu items are all less than $5, either breakfast of lunch. Some of our favorites are Al Pastor & Gaonera. If you are in the area you must definitely check this out! read more

Saw this place opened up recently and decided to give it a shot while passing by and I'm so glad that I did! I loved the steak and onion taco (you get a big piece of steak) and the al pastor! Both were super flavorful and juicy. So happy that this is in the area and I will be back soon to try the other menu items! read more

Pretty good breakfast tacos! I think there are some things to be tweaked, but a good start for the business. Pros: The handmade tortillas are delicious. Each taco had a good amount of eggs. Favorites so far were the bacon egg and cheese and mushroom tacos. Cons: The crispy potatoes were not crispy in the papas locos taco. They barely had any color on them and no texture. The brisket was really dry, and since that's the most expensive option, it should be better. Looking forward to trying more from the menu. read more

Probably the best tacos I've had in NYC (and I've lived here for over 10 years). Super flavorful, fresh ingredients, and the margaritas are on point. The vibe is cool and low key, not trying too hard. Happy hour is solid, and the service is always friendly and quick. I've been for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it always hits. Definitely worth checking out. A hidden taco gem. read more

Came here for consecutive meals like an insane person - it was that good. I got three tacos for dinner - steak, pork rib, and al pastor - and all three were fantastic. I came back the next morning for brunch and it was also excellent. Can't recommend the steak and grilled onion taco from the lunch / dinner menu highly enough. Small, cozy space with some nice music and very attentive staff. read more
