The lobby was closed, and customers were expected to sit outside in the extreme heat. The manager informed customers that the lobby was closed but did not provide any explanation as to why as there was no construction going on and the tables were clean, with nothing wrong with them. There were children and elderly customers outside, and I was also working with an adult with autism at the time. I found it extremely concerning and unprofessional that customers were left outside in those conditions while the restaurant continued serving people. I understand that there may be operational reasons for closing the lobby, but customer safety should still be a priority, especially during extreme weather. On top of bad customer service- service was slow. A formal complaint has been reported to Shake Shack regarding this incident, and I hope management takes the matter seriously and reviews what happened at this location.
