After a long, exciting day at Universal Studios, my family and I were craving some good halal food--and we hit the jackpot with Vostok Grill! Every bite was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. We ordered the manti (my kids devoured them!), the Kazan kabob--an absolute hit and a must-try--and the plov, which was perfectly seasoned and comforting. What makes this place even more special? There are live BBQ vendors grilling on the side, adding to the amazing experience. And the owner was so kind and down to earth, making us feel truly welcomed. If you're in the area and want flavorful halal food that hits the spot--Vostok Grill is the place to go! We'll definitely be back again!

A broth with meat instead of plov (((

Response to the nonsense you sent me -- are you serious? I placed the order through Uber -- order number #8EB05. And after your claim that you sent me the wrong order, I will be submitting a complaint to Uber about you. I wanted to leave a review about the order I placed the day before yesterday. I finally found the time -- and I want everyone to know. I ordered plov, manti, and a slice of Napoleon cake. But what I received was: * a broth with meat instead of plov, * a Snickers-style cake instead of Napoleon, and * old manti that started to smell rotten the next day. This was my worst ordering experience. Absolutely terrible. Avoid this place at all costs.

When I was listing ingredients, I didn't think crispy flatbread was "it" but also didn't identify it as potatoes. Whatever was in the bottom of this bowl with everything else was amazing.

Kurutob

My favorite food truck in the area! I get something new every time and it never disappoints. HIGHLY recommend the kurutob. The potatoes and lamb are so good and the tomatoes are fresh and full of flavor. Enough for 3 meals

Cold Beef shawarma with cold flatbread.

Beef shawarma tastes good but is it supposed to be eaten cold? The flatbread was also cold although it felt fresh. I walked one minute to my house. This has to have been below room temperature when it was served. Honestly dissapointed compared to other shawarma I have tried just for the temperature and its price. I'll eat my words if someone confirms this is supposed to be eaten as cold as a potato salad.

Best food truck in LA! The service is top notch and treats you with care. Like a home cooked meal. Bread and tea complimentary if you eat outside! Can't go wrong.

Open until 4am, their food was always fresh, clean, the staff were polite and professional, and the price was about the best deal you'd find downtown. A good, honest restaurant and business, which is rare in LA these days. I walked down there tonight and can confirm that the place is closed and the inside is being cleared out. Not sure why, but since there have been other locations around the LA area over the past several years, maybe they're just moving again. I wish them all the best! To Anwar and staff, thank you for the delicious and healthy food over the years, and for running a tight ship. I hope I see that Wolverine mural pop up somewhere else, soon!

This time, I went with the Anwar Style Chicken Shawarma to try something new. The portion size alone is impressive. The container is packed and feels substantial the moment you pick it up. The base is a bed of fries, and these are not just filler. They are thick, well seasoned, and sturdy enough to handle all the toppings without turning into a soggy mess. On top of the fries is a generous amount of chicken. The chicken tastes freshly cooked, with that warm, savory flavor you expect from good shawarma, never dry and never overly salty. There are pita chips mixed in, which add a great crunch and texture against the fries and chicken. Multiple sauces are drizzled throughout the dish. I chose a side of their spicy sauce. The creamy white sauce balances things out, while the orange sauce brings a mild heat and a little extra depth. None of the sauces overpower the dish, they work together to coat everything evenly and keep every bite flavorful. Diced tomatoes and corn adds a touch of sweetness that surprisingly works really well here. A sprinkle of herbs throughout helps brighten everything up and keeps the dish from feeling too heavy, even though it is definitely filling. This is comfort food done right. It is messy in the best way, packed with flavor, at least to me it was. If you are looking for something hearty, satisfying, and consistently well made, I will always recommend Anwar's Kitchen. Anwar's Kitchen delivers quality food, and I will keep ordering from them.

It was also annoying for the waitress (not the gal that served us btw - a host perhaps) to give the vibe like they were doing us a favor by applying the $50 Birthday promo that THEY send via email (note, I verbally this flagged when we arrived just in case - but they didn't initially have it on our bill). My head is thinking "calm down--we ate minimally and got drinks. Don't offer it if you're going to have an attitude about adjusting the bill". It was just weird. They also didn't offer any bday dessert treat but we weren't super pressed bc we were so full. The meat was a bit overdone and all kind of tasted the same this visit. Didn't get to try the lamb chops and a few other meats, but still has a nice variety. Salad bar is top notch and consistent, although wish their black beans were plain due to all the meat. Drinks were ok--heavy pours but lower quality wine. The $29 "Wine Experience" package was worth it for my husband who likes variety of wines with his dinner depending on what he's eating. I'm sure I'll come again but it's been bumped a few notches on my Go To list.

I ordered the Blood In, Blood Out and my wife ordered the Hispanic! At the Disco. Both drinks were amazing. There were several employees that saw us just standing there, but we still waited there for 5 mins before someone told the girl from outside to take us to our table. We were finally seated. Then guy who told the girl to seat us was just standing around d chit chatting with another employees for about 15 minutes before he even came to our table. He never even introduce himself. He just took our order. Another 20 mins came by before our food was served. OUR FOOD WAS ROOM TEMPERATURE. Short Rib was ok. The macaroni was stale and OLD! It was dry and not fresh! We asked for extra BBQ sauce and that didn't arrive for another 15 mins. We had to wave down another employee to try to get the sauce to us. I wouldn't recommend this place! Horrible service. Didn't even come around to see if we needed anything or if everything was good or not. We came here around 1:30pm on 3/16. The restroom was also out of paper towels and soap from the soda dispenser. Poor quality food! Glad I tried it, so I know to not come back again!

In addition to biryani, this South Asian spot makes hearty Pakistani dishes with bold spices and an emphasis on tender meat. Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani: This biryani is a magical blend of basmati rice, spices, onions, ghee, and lamb shank. The soft and luscious lamb meat easily flakes off the giant bone. The separate ingredients are beautifully layered together so the flavors are distinct and complementary. The warm spices provide great depth of flavor. On the side is a cool and creamy mint chutney. Nihari: Large tender beef shanks are slowly braised in a vibrant spice blend with onions, garlic, and ghee. The soft gelatinous connective tissue throughout the succulent meat is delicious coated in the rich and meaty stew. Tear chunks off the large chewy naan and form pockets filled with beef and gravy.
