Because of that, parking can be busy at peak times but I've always found a spot. Ordering: Halal Guys can get busy at lunch hour so I usually order online through the app (since there's a rewards program). Otherwise, you can come in to build your bowl. My go-to order consists of a small half chicken and half beef gyro bowl with extra lettuce for no additional charge ($11.99). Bowls usually also come with rice, pita bread, tomatoes, their signature white sauce, and hot sauce. Their signature white sauce is very good with the bowl but their hot sauce is really, really spicy. You can also add onions, green peppers, jalapeños, and for an extra charge, olives. Overall: If I don't know what to eat, I'll opt for Halal Guys. The bowls are filling and can be relatively healthy (if you skip the white sauce, but it's so good!). read more

Anytime I am near a Halal Guys, I have to try it! I remember eating Halal Guys off of the 53rd and 6th every day when I was there for 2 weeks, 10 years ago....that fresh off the grill, white sauce, and red sauce. Oh the memories. But especially the jokes and customer service you get with the people at the cart, especially at 2am! Fatima's customer service was just what I expected from the Halal Guys! She was friendly, enthusiastic and happy with the customer before and after me. It wasn't just to an indecisive pregnant person! With so many choices than what I remembered from 10 years ago...from the cart, I wasn't sure what I wanted. She made sure I got everything that just hit the spot! Even though the food hit the spot, but I do miss the meat directly off the grill instead of being warmed, but I get it is easier to serve in a rush with it prepped and assembled. Who rates a fast food restaurant based on the napkins. Unfortunately halal guys napkins rate one out of ten. I had the chicken plate with onion hummus, onions, green peppers. The chicken was too dry. Also they gave me too much rice. Go to fda.gov and find out about rice and the fact that it contains arsenic. They recommend no more than one serving per week of rice. The white sauce is all soy bean oil. Another not so good choice. The food tasted okay but nothing spectacular. At least they had my favorite drink, diet coke. Tea would have been better but they don't seem to have tea. read more

Halal Guys really had a cult following ever since they got a famous in NYC. I convinced my family to get some for dinner and we ordered through Yelp (Grubhub) I was initially disappointed that I had clicked for 2 spicy sauces and 2 white sauces and ended up with 4 white sauces. It's not bad but I really wanted that heat in my dish and for my family to try that beloved red sauce. Because of this - I'm not too eager to order take out again. The food itself was great and filling. I like the gyros and chicken and the rice is so buttery and tasty. The white sauce adds so much flavor and is great when you mix it with the protein, rice, and vegetables. It was plenty for two people. I liked the pita that came with and the extra consists of one pita bread. We also got fries to share and it was a kinda random thing to have on the menu but they tasted like, jack in the box or something. Its been a little while since I wrote a review, Im still here routine. I hate that the parking is great right now, but it is. With all the health concerns they have it set up different, you can 100% do everything with the app and its a breeze. No cash handling involved and they are at the door with your food hot when its ready. The food remains consistently awesome, I stopped checking in after like 120 times five years ago. (Didnt realize its been that long). One thing I discovered with take out is they have the most amazing fry container. Seriously it keeps them hot, but still crunchy. I really like the design and it still has a lid. Im super happy they are still open and happy to continue to get my lunches here. I definitely like this location better than the Irvine one. I like how here they don't give me a hard time when I want an extra sauce or a few extra pieces of pita bread. Off the Menu is new to OC, so I was glad Sebastian knew exactly what to do and was extremely efficient. I did not know this about Halal Guys, but when I asked after not being able to find their tip jar, they handed me a card that said they couldn't accept tip but would greatly appreciate a Yelp review. The gyro sandwich did NOT disappoint. It came packed with gyro, lettuce, tomato, bell peppers, and onion wrapped in pita bread and topped with their specialty white sauce ... omg. So good. The second time I've gone to this place, and the experience was markedly better. Line wasn't as long, and the food tasted much better than the last time I had it. Perhaps because there are more locations across the Southland that would account for the reduced foot traffic, but it was much more pleasant this time.
