View from car! Excited to get here

I wanted to like this sooooo bad but it didn't stand out. Please see my review for Halal Guys NYC. The NYC food was so delicious I couldn't shake the flavor and saw that there was a location in Chicagoland area ran by same company. It just didn't hit the same. I think those guys in NYC need to make a trip to this location and give training on how to achieve the flavors. I SERIOUSLY doubt I return to this location. The customer service was nice but thats it! I was so excited I tipped on a carryout before even trying the food because again NY had me so impressed.

I'd have to say, this chain has come a long way since I first tried them at 7th Ave in NYC about a decade back. I few touches here and there have been tweaked. I still adore this chain though. But only because we have none in Detroit. Anyways, we ordered 4 combo platters off the drive through with everything on it. Two of them will serve as our road trip back to Detroit meal. The other two,, is none of your business. Everything is very good, although I don't really know all about that green peppers deal. But I'm sure its not because of the location. It's because someone from higher up prolly thought it was a good idea. Don't get me wrong. I still adore a proper combo platter. Just hold the green peppers next time. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!!

Small Chicken Platter with White Sauce Pouch

Food was pretty good. I ordered a small platter thru Uber Eats. Chicken and rice was a bit bland no real flavor Huge packet of white sauce. What put this over the top was the hot sauce packet. I'll try this again to see if this was a one time error.

I loved this fast casual Mediterranean spot! It was my first time visiting one of these locations and I am glad I did! I order a side of falafel which was delicious. Hot and seasoned well! Then I ordered hummus with pita and a chicken and gyro combination plate which was delightful! Also ended with the house-made baklava which baklava- how can you ever go wrong? It was delish perfect balance of sweet and I will definitely visit again. The establishment was clean, the food was hot and fresh and the customer service was great- the 2 workers on shift were nice and informative. They do have a signature white sauce that is a cross between taziziki and ranch. I wasn't a huge fan of that, I like my traditional tazizki sauce but I won't hold that against them! Lots of people love it, just not me.

The Halal Guys is a halal fast casual restaurant franchise that began as a food cart on the south-east corner of 53rd Street and Sixth Avenue in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. They first opened for business in 1990 and 25 years later they now have several US Locations and 4 international locations. That being said, I had pretty high expectations going here. I have never been to NY but it seems as if their food would be pretty close or on par with food found in Chicago, which is a huge compliment. Upon entering the location we were greeted by the friendly cashier. Their were multiple people behind the counter creating orders, everyone was friendly! The place is bright, spacious and very clean. The food here is pretty pricey, depending on what you order. I opted for a falafel plate, mostly because I'm a pescatarian, because I wanted it with Hummus, I ordered a large plate. That ended up not being a good idea, because I pretty much paid an extra $1 just for fillers. When you order a falafel plate, you get mostly fillers, which is disappointing due to the price. The large plate is full of lettuce, tomatoes, rice and about 4-5 falafel balls. That's not a lot of food for almost $10. In addition to that, if you want hummus you have to pay extra. I believe it's around an additional $2.99 for hummus. Overall I had an ok experience here, I have no complaints other than the prices, oh yeah and the Spicy hummus! I wasn't overly pleased with the spicy hummus, it was too SPICY for my taste. The falafel balls weren't bad, not the best I've ever had but they weren't bad. I may try them again one day and try the regular hummus and a smaller falafel bowl, who knows. I have so many options in the area, only time will tell.

Given that I had already been to the original Halal guys cart in NYC, I was sort of nervous to try this place. Nevertheless, the chicken plate with rice and pita was delicious!! The food tasted pretty much similar to the original food I tried in NYC. I liked how I can get my food here and sit and eat there inside the restaurant vs having to stand outside on the street to eat it. I enjoyed it a bit more because of having that comfort. The people working here were really nice. They gave us as much extra white sauce and red sauce as we wanted. They also sell white sauce here for anyone who wants that for reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back in future.

I just moved and this was great news that this Halal Guys is just 10 minutes from me. I've always loved HG and have no problems with it. The restaurant was clean, service was nice, workers were nice, so no complaints. I look forward to returning!

Can't go wrong with these guys. It's as good as the original spot in NY. Tastes great and plenty of food for your money. They don't skimp out at all!!! Picked up thru the drive thru and had a 25min drive home. Even after the log drive, still tasted great!

The most gracious and humble hosts - paying attention to every detail and stopping at nothing to bring whatever the customer wants to fruition. We don't realize that the place closes at 8:00 pm, and just kept chomping and socializing - they never once pointed it out to us. I begin with them because they were the friendliest folks, and their service was truly remarkable. Then comes the food - my goodness, the food. Let's begin with the Harira. Perfectly seasoned, but for me, it requires a little more salt (which is personal preference) and a pop of acid like lemon to bring out its true flavor. Overall, a really comforting, rich soup without being heavy or cloying. Then came the Moroccan seasoned potatoes - oooooweeee! These were little nuggets of pure deliciousness. Seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside and every bite kept you wanting to go back for more. Then the lamb shank tagine - ummmm, excuse me?!?! What do you mean the meat is like butter? It literally falls off the bone and dissolves in your mouth. Rich, fatty, unctuous and truly a delight. The bed of couscous it came with was also great - made better by the sauce from the lamb shank. The highlight of this plate were the roasted prunes that are part of the sauce. Sweet, jammy prunes cooked into the sauce made them just truly a delightful mouthfeel in comparison to the couscous and the scrumptious meat. To top it all off, the cherry on top, is their comforting Moroccan mint tea. So very fresh and the perfect end to an absolutely DELIGHTFUL meal. Highly recommended!!!

It's tiny inside and feels well worn (in a good way), but there are a few tables outside. We went at an off time (or so we thought), but eventually all four tables and all bar seating were taken up. The gentleman serving us seemed to be the only one there, but he was friendly. We ordered a taktouka sampler, mixed grill platter, and lamb shank tagine. If you go to a Moroccan restaurant, you've got to get tagine. It took a little while for the food to come out, but overall it was excellent. The taktouka sampler was full of veggies. It was tasty, but I wish the carrots were cooked more to soften them. The mixed grill platter had chicken and beef kabobs, as well as something like a kefta (ground meat) kabob. The meats and rice were good, although the beef and chicken could have been more tender and juicy. The white sauce was a nice accompaniment. The lamb shank was excellent; nice tender meat, tasty rice, and delicious supplemental flavors from the figs and apricots. Overall, a very nice lunch.

I wanted to seek out the chef, and kiss his/her hands, but I don't have bail money, so I didn't. Their grilled fish was also to die for; booked through perfectly, and juicy, with a bunch of beautifully caramelized seasoning giving it a scrumptious yet delicate flavor. Baba Ghanoush can be had as a main, versus a side, the portion is aplenty, and the flavor is top notch; I prefer my ghanoush more chunky, but this is creamy and satisfying too! I had halal beef before in burgers and they were very juicy. I was anxious to try halal fried chicken. They are located in a big strip mall. Parking is very spacious. The restaurant itself is medium size, you have a mix of tables and booths. They didn't have the deals we saw online on their in store menu. It was weird. They said we can order online and they will bring the food out to us. We were a group of three. The customer service was phenomenal, everyone was welcoming. Prices were good for how much you receive. We ordered dark chicken (8 pieces), whole wings (10 pieces), mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and drinks. Palestinians always give a generous amount of food. The dark chicken bucket was a mix of drumsticks and thighs. The thighs were like the size of American chicken breasts. The whole wings were meaty and big. The chicken in general was very succulent and moist. Easily in my top 3 favorite fried chicken places period. I believe the wings came with one biscuit and fries. The biscuit was not dry and honey flavored. The fries were crunchy and seasoned. The mashed potatoes were okay, Popeyes does it better. The mac and cheese tasted different. Different seasonings, it was okay. This is about a 4.5 out of 5. The sides could use some work.
