I have actually eaten The Halal Guys in NYC at their cart locations around Times Square. I was 100% vegetarian back then too... So falafel anything was all I ate from them. Even if I had to wait half-hour in the winter on a line. And it was always amazing. I like the concept of an eatery. The ambiance was nice. The line was short and quick. The pita was small. The rice was different like less flavorful. There was no pickled vegetables ((beet, turnip, pepper) with the salad. I was happy for tahini (sesame seed paste), white sauce and hot sauce on the side. I found out the delicious white sauce was always made with eggs. Also, the hot sauce was too hot. Thank God I only put one packet of hot sauce on my dinner. My nose and eyes are watering from the hot sauce heat. Not so enjoyable. What else? It's not just one Halal Man in action preparing great food for the mass of workers on lunch/snack/dinner. Men and women work behind the counter at the Halal Guys eatery. Service was very friendly. They displayed sides of eggplant dip, tabouleh and something else that was yucky looking because of it sitting openly. It made me want to runaway... However, I placed my order and paid already. I don't recommend vegan, vegetarian and sides here. Also, the baklava was small for the price $2.95 Prices are double because it was not a food-cart. So, I must say that if you go to a Halal Guys Eatery for chicken or beef or combination plates that would be completely worth it. And I recommend it to meat-eaters. Came here for the OTM falafel sandwich and it was amazing! Loaded with veggies and cant forget about their tasty sauces - I'm a sucker for that white sauce and can only handle a dab of the red one! Went in for a quick lunch with my parents. It was around 2 pm and they were not busy at all. The girl taking our order seemed to rush things and for us being a first timer we needed to know what we want so I kinda felt that she was trying to rush things. Anyways, my dad got the gyro plate, my mom got the Felafel plate and I got combo plate of gyro and felafel. We got a side order of babaganoush and a taboola. The side orders were super dry, bland and no flavor at all. Falafel was soooo dry and lacked basic taste and flavor in any middle eastern food. It was extremely pricey compare to Zankou chicken and lacked basic quality. We spent $43 for those 3 small plates and 2 sides and one drink. I would suggest going to Zankou chicken to get a better quality food and portion size. Won't be returning ever. read more

My co-worker and I had lunch here yesterday. I had high expectations since I've had it in New York and Orange County. Considering it was lunch time the line was fast and food fresh and tasty. I've been to this location a few times now. The area is nice. Next to 85 degrees, if you want dessert afterwards.. Lolz. Parking can be difficult. They have meter parking on the street. I liked their meat, but this time I ordered the chicken sandwich. It was ok, but chicken was a little bit hard. We also ordered the combo platter. I liked the beef, it was tender and soft. The white sauce and rice were also good. Although, the portion was smaller compare before. The customer service was ok. Needs a little cleaning on the kitchen, tables and restroom. So this is my first Yelp review and I downloaded the app specifically to commend the great service and food consistently offered at this Halal Guys location in Glendale. Greeted promptly (and friendly) by Areg who assisted me with my combo platter. If only all businesses employed such hard working and friendly employees as this location consistently does. Sure, there are other Halal Guys locations, but I generally make a stop at this location as it is always far above the rest in terms of friendliness and quality. Well, I finally made it. I ordered a 1/2 chicken, 1/2 gyro plate and tried to turn it into a salad by refusing the rice and adding extra lettuce and white sauce which I don't recommend doing. It didn't work well. It may have worked slightly better if they used romaine lettuce but it's just shredded iceberg. I found their gyro meat to be very dry and crumbly compared to their chicken which was juicy and seasoned very well. Also, I don't understand the hype behind their white sauce. In fact, it gets old pretty quickly. I'd compare it to the sauce that Baja Fresh serves on their fish tacos - my best guess is vinegar and sour cream. That's it, nothing innovative. If I do return, it will be for a normal plate with all chicken, rice, a tiny bit of lettuce and a normal amount of white sauce... maybe mixed with the hot sauce which I didn't try. read more

I could hold my own with hot sauce and have been known by many people that eating the hottest of hot sauces is my thing. Having heard about The Halal Guys, how hot could that red sauce be? It only came with chicken and lettuce, which was add for mediterranean food ( no spread, no tomato). I also got a tabule on the side and that was not good either. Horrible horrible food. I ordered the lamb and beef Gyro with tahini (they charge you a dollar for the sauce that comes on every Gyro at every other restaurant?) That's weird especially because they're tahini sucks! No flavor! At first I thought it was a bland sour cream! The pita bread sucked! It wasn't even warmed or grilled it was soft cold and soggy. I asked for lamb and beef and only got lamb and there was hardly NO MEAT on the Gyro whatsoever!!! what a huge rip off!!! it tasted like crap I took a few bites and threw it away. To the manager of this location: Shout out to your great employee Christian: FIVE STAR for his EXCELLENT customer service skills My wife and I stopped by yesterday, Aug 5, to give this SoCal location a try. Right when we entered this establishment, we were greeted by Christian in a very pleasant and welcoming way. His interaction skills in regards to taking our orders were on point: courteous and informative. He even provided his personal input regarding the fries which convinced us to order some and give it a try As for toppings, he suggested to have some onions, bell peppers and jalapeños on the side. We opted for the "white sauce" to be drench on top of our orders instead of having it on the side. Christian rang us up and, to my surprise, the register did not give us the option to input a tip with our total. We did not feel right to not give gratitude by tipping for such an EXCELLENT customer service provided by Christian so we asked him where we can place our tip (cash). He mentioned that they actually do not accept tips but a Yelp review would suffice. We told him we will definitely leave a Yelp review and placed the money next to the register. FYI: the manager of this location was actually next to Christian so we mentioned to her how great Christian's customer service was Keep up the great work, bud! I first had Halal Guys in NYC years ago while on vacation with my family. We stopped at the original Halal Guys cart at 53rd & 6th right near our hotel and we were instantly hooked. Great quality, big tasty portions and that hot sauce.. ouch!! I love it so much. Years later, to our surprise, we heard Halal Guys were coming to California. We were psyched! We love the always friendly service at the Glendale location and we go there often when we want that Halal Guys experience. I usually get the chicken with onions and bell peppers and add the savory white sauce and fiery hot sauce to every single bite. (My mouth is watering just typing this!) Great fries too!! We're glad to have a little taste of NYC here in SoCal and I'm happy this little food cart has expanded to locations in many countries around the world. Finally got around to trying this place. everyone talks about it a lot. i ordered a combo and asked for half the amount of rice. i wish i had ordered with only lettuce now. the rice is kind of strange and seemed undercooked. the sauce is amazing and the meat was very flavorful and tender. i am not sure i would find myself craving this place but would be much better as a salad with the meats and sauces. i do wish it had more in it. there is only tomatoes and 2 slices of bread. Tasted like fast food. Portion size for small is super tiny, pay the extra buck. 75 cents for extra sauce?!? In n Out does not even charge for spread and you guys are no In n Out!
