I like Halal guys because they are quick, affordable, serve good food and stay open late. The assembly style format is really working here and keeps lines moving fairly quickly. I tend to go for the chicken/beef plate combo with rice, etc + red sauce. Be warned. the red sauce is super spicy (no joke) but I love it. I also get plenty of the white sauce to counterbalance. This is a decent location only because it's not too crowded. The customer service is good but at times, they seem inefficient. We stopped by here for the 3rd time and I can tell who is a lazy employee and who is a dedicated employee. Unfortunately the dedicated ones were helping me and the lazy one was very passive in helping the line behind me. Other than today's incident, the customer service is great. The food is awesome, and there's plenty of seating, inside and out. I always get fries on my platter and they make the fries fresh for you, which only takes a few minutes. Halal Guys is real tasty, but for the last six months I've had this gift card they won't let me use. One time I walked in, ordered, and then told this gift card only worked online. That's fine. A little strange since there's a barcode on the bottom, but all good! I can try again a different day! Then a few weeks go by and I try again. This time online. However this time, the price of my food was more expensive then the value on the card. No big deal, right? Wrong! For some reason I couldn't spend the gift card and then also use my credit card to cover the remaining balance. It was either all of nothing! What a bizarre rule! So I try one more time in store. I always have a good experience here. Whenever I'm craving a pre or post workout meal, Halal Guys is usually my go-to. The food is pretty good. I usually order a regular chicken platter with lettuce and tomatoes. The lettuce and tomatoes are always fresh and the chicken is always juicy. I used to order the combo platter, but I've noticed that the chicken is definitely juicier, which I appreciate more. I like that everything always tastes fresh and that the atmosphere of the restaurant is quite clean. Lately, Halal guys have come out with a Spicy BBQ chicken. The server was kind enough to let me sample it. Personally, it wasn't better than the regular chicken, but it was still good nonetheless. For the sauce, I like my platter drenched in white sauce and the servers never make me feel bad for this request. Usually 2 packets of hot sauce is enough for a nice kick to my meal. As much as I enjoy the food and atmosphere here, the servers definitely play a huge part in it. Usually I am served by Christopher or the man in the black shirt that somewhat speaks like an auctioneer. They both have given me exceptional service and are so kind. There's usually metered street parking available, or if you don't mind a walk, there's a parking lot on Orange that's free for 90 minutes. read more

Place isn't too bad but from what people were saying online I guess I was expecting it to blow my mind which it did not. Some were saying that they love the rice but today it was okay for me. It didn't have too much flavor in my opinion. Got the gyro sandwich and small combo plate. The gyro was flavorful but the chicken was just okay for me. It didn't taste like it was seasoned with anything just grilled chicken that they cut up. It could be because of the sauces that they put on afterwards which was good. Three sauces that they offer which are the white success sauce, red sauce, and bbq sauce. I would recommend the white sauce and hot sauce but be careful of the hot sauce because it is spicy. I'm usually the type of person who uses a good amount of sriracha on anything I eat and this hot sauce was pretty spicy in my opinion. We ordered lunch via DoorDash from The Halal Guys and were so pleased with our lunch (and later, dinner - these portions are big!). We placed two combo platter meals (you get a choice between two proteins: we went with chicken and gyro) with extra sauce and scoops of baba ganoush and hummus. The order on DoorDash updated periodically, with when our order was confirmed, when it was getting prepared, when our Dasher has picked up the food, etc. From ordering to getting food was just over an hour, which during these pandemic times is 100% reasonable. Food arrived and what a nice surprise - we got a side of fries as a Thank You from the house, and we were so touched for the taste of fries at home. The food came in large portions, just like the ones you used to get at the original New York stand, with the yellow rice delicious and flavorful, and holy smokes the white sauce packets are HUGE!! I had no idea and was delighted, we were able to drizzle away at our platters at our pleasure and still had some to put in the fridge for another occasion. The hot sauce was just as burn-y as I remembered as well. I was happily huffing and puffing through the spicy! Chicken was good, but gyro is GREAT. Flavorful, well seasoned, spices throughout and fragrant. The chopped veggies and tomatoes are a perfect accompaniment as well - and the food reheats really well, just as delicious even if the veggies were cooked through the second time. Even though it looks heavy, it doesn't taste heavy or settle heavily in your body - your body feels good and just wants more! The chicken and gyro was a little bit on the dry side and the taste was kind of bland. It definitely needed some kind of sauce. After putting on the white sauce, it made a world of difference in the taste. I ended up constantly putting sauce on my meats like I do with salads. The white sauce is really good !! The flavors of my food was all there, except the meat weren't as grilled which differentiates this restaurant from the stands in New York. I've had Halal Guys before in New York and I'm not sure if I was really drunk but it was SO GOOD. I was excited, but I thought this location was just average. The white sauce I wasn't impressed with, basically tasted like Ranch. Also, warning the red sauce is really spicy! Customer service was friendly enough. But after skimming the reviews (after I got my food), I didn't experience any of the great things they talked about. I wasn't offered toppings, I didn't know that was an option.
