My usual order is the combo platter, which comes with both the chicken & beef gyro over rice. I'd recommend getting both the white and hot sauce on top! We first tried the Halal guys in NYC in early 2000 and loved it. We discovered Jones Fried Chicken when we moved to Houston and thought the taste and portion size were similar to Halal guys. I was in the neighborhood and decided to give this a try. I was greeted as soon as I entered and saw 4 employees working on a Friday at 2:30 pm. I was the only customer and got 2 regular platters: 1 chicken and 1 gyro beef. Half of the container was filled with lettuce and some tomatoes, then 3 scoops of rice in orange color, 2 scoops of protein and 4 pieces of triangular pita. She drizzed white sauce and added some onions. I didn't add any hummus when the lady asked if I wanted some. It was $9.69 for regular and $8.69 for a small platter. It was a quick transaction, in and out in less than 10 minutes. Pretty efficient! We had high expectation of the food as we had fond memories. Rice were a bit too hard and meat were too salty. My husband was still hungry after finishing his portion as he said he would like more rice. We actually weighed the container before we ate. My husband wasn't satisfied and decided to order Jones Fried chicken for dinner. Yes, he can eat the same thing again. Based on this experience, we concluded we got a better value (whole 5 oz more food) and quality of food at Jones than Halal guys. I used The Halal Guys' Westheimer location to cater for a group of 65 people. They packed up the food in individual "platters" or bowls. They have falafel, chicken, beef, and combo options. The staff was friendly and it was very easy to call and place the order. They called the morning of the event for payment. You can pick-up or have the food delivered. They provide extra white sauce, napkins, and utensils. Overall a good experience, and everyone was satisfied with the food! read more

Service can be slow depending on what time you go but the people working here are friendly. Then the agent asked me for a " bank statement " to prove the transaction. I replied told him that I paid cash so there was no bank statement to provide. After that he stopped replying to my emails. The automated response system for this company will probably reply to my review, but I am not interested in reaching out again just to get ignored. I REALLY want to like this place, but it's just mediocre and overpriced. I really enjoyed my server, her personality made this experience worth the trip. Didn't catch her name, but had a great attitude with her coworker not finding what was right in front of her face. We had a giggle and she prepared my food. She let me know that the olives were extra and that if I download the app, I can get free fries next visit. I got the chicken/gyro combo platter (small) and it was good, but nothing stood out. Everyone raves about the white sauce, but I honestly don't think it shined like it should. I love hot sauce, but the little that was added was fire- literally- just heat- no flavor.
