Baba Ghanoush, Regular Platter with White Sauce Packet To-Go & Hot Sauce Packet To-Go
    Catherine F.

I ordered the Baba Ghanoush, along with the Regular Plate with half beef gyro and half chicken. For my plate, I included everything and added chopped green peppers and onions. The platter's main source of flavor came from the sauces, but the Baba Ghanoush did have a smokey flavor. Other than that, the workers were friendly, and service was fast. It's a good option for convenient food.

You can't go wrong with Halal Guys! If you are in the mood for a plate of NY street food, this is the place to be. The restaurant is conveniently located with a lot of parking right off MacArthur. Their app makes online ordering really simple and easy. To-go orders are customizable and the red & white sauce packets are given separately. You can make your plate to your preferred spice level. The staff and friendly and make the pickup process a breeze. The food tastes good and what more can one expect? I will return for sure!

Hiding their disgustingly old, non fresh food.

5/21/24- Last time I visited this place the food was disgusting and not at all fresh. After arriving home and looking at it I felt betrayed by a supposedly reputable brand. I yelped this concern months ago to the corp folk and they failed terribly with follow up/ through. This store tricks you into buying their old stale and days old product by covering the food so you don't see the brown lettuce, watered down tomatoes, dried meats. My opinion, they choose not to manage food prep planning over quality. If you are brave enough to try them be sure and check your quality before leaving.

The Halal Guys has really great Mediterranean food. We always order the Beef plate. With extra beef and vegetables. If you are looking for a healthy lunch or dinner look no further. The employees are very nice and the restaurant is very clean. We've ordered several times and ready for another visit. Thank you

I didn't know this was here until I looked it up the chain on the web. New-ish location on a Saturday was just what was needed. I was coming from the office and was picking up lunch before the football games. The place was clean, staff friendly and very welcoming! Plenty of parking available and very easy to find! I ordered a couple of combo platters with heavy white sauce and extra pita. All was packaged well and it made the 24 mile trip across Dallas to the house. The flavors were wonderful! Clean and fresh! The prices were very reasonable.

The first time I ate at a Halal Guys was food off their cart in New York City years ago. Back then, they were already transitioning from just having a cult following for their food, and had one brick and mortar location. The pace at which they've moved since then to international status is astounding and may I say fully deserved. In the world of fast casual dining, the consistency at which the food is prepared and delivered across multiple locations should be of great concern to their competitors. I was glad they opened one relatively recently in my current neck of the woods, and my only regret was that I could never find an opportune moment to try it out at Irving, until today. Right away, the friendliness with which the staff greets you makes you feel instantly at ease. The menu is not expansive, as well it should not be, because that allows them to really hone in on doing the basics well, and keep that consistency and save on food costs. The charm of sitting on the curbside, on a bench or just eating whilst standing next to the food cart in NYC cannot be replaced, but it doesn't hurt to be sat at a table either ;). The Irving location was clean and has plenty of room if you're bringing a group. My order was the combo rice bowl of gyro and chicken, which comes with lettuce, tomato and choice of sauce. White sauce obviously, and just a little bit of the red. I used to be able to handle the heat back in the day, but not anymore. The dish also comes with pita bread, and I added a side of falafel to my order, which is not part of the dish by itself. The falafels were the best I've had in all of my memory, and I've lived at one point in the Middle East, so I've had my fair share over the years. They were fried to perfection, crisp and not oily at all. The ground chickpeas inside had a smattering of coriander seeds and were light. I've had dense falafels at other places and they absolutely ruin the experience, and this place does it right. The chicken and gyros were moist and well-seasoned. I love the graphics on their drink cups - It pays homage to the humble beginnings of the carts they started with dishing out their food (I've attached a picture of the cup). Although, I have to call out Halal guys for inaccuracy, because the line depicted waiting for their turn to order at the cart on the drink cup was way too short. It should have been winding along the entire height of the cup.

Regular Beef Gyro Platter with white sauce and hot sauce. Bussin!

This place is my jam. I grew up in nyc, eating at the original food stand in midtown manhattan, and this place is right on par with the OG spot. Hot sauce and white sauce are fire, meat is tender and flavorful, and the customer service is always good. I prefer this location to the South lake one, they just seem to care a little more.

I'm sorry but this meal wasn't what I expected. I sat and read the reviews on Yelp and I was excited to try this platter. Unfortunately, this was subpar at best. The meat was dry and the meal wasn't flavorful. Unfortunately I won't try this again and I will search for better gyro.

The seasoning was so good, I've never had one with those spices. Also the spicy hummus and regular hummus were both spectacular! Paired with the pita bread - it was amazing! We ate pretty early around 5pm, and it was very empty, which was nice because it meant our food came fast. We tried the chicken shawarma bowl and the beef shawarma bowls. The food tasted delicious, but did seem a little less fresh, like maybe it had been sitting for a while, which would make sense because it wasn't exactly prime dinner hour yet, so maybe perhaps left from lunch? Either way, the portions were great, enough to take home leftovers. And the flavor of the meat was superb. They were so warm and kind to our family, especially our two year old. I appreciated the thoughtful touches the staff added to make our dining experience special. It definitely gave the cozy feeling of a mom and pop diner but mediterranean style! I loved it. We will definitely be coming back.

I decided on the Bowl with Basmati Rice and Spicy Harissa Chicken. The bowl overall had good flavor with the only challenges being that the chicken was not spicy at all and the chicken was oddly tough to check. It certainly would not lead me to not return and may have just been some odd chicken. Excellent lunch option in the area.

The biggest issue was that everything was very salty -- to the point where it was hard to finish the meal. I had the street gyro (lamb and beef), and while the texture was fine, the seasoning overwhelmed the dish. My child ordered the "Sneaky Taziki," which ended up being a dried-out chicken breast with cheese in a tortilla, and he barely touched it. Overall, this feels like a place designed for a more generic take on Greek/Mediterranean food rather than something truly authentic or memorable. There's nothing outright bad about it, but nothing really stands out either. It's fine, just not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again. 3 Stars, right down the middle.
