I'm very sad to leave this review as I've spent a quite a bit of time in NY and would eat the combo almost every other night. I've been to many of the franchises and watched a franchise open in McAllen and then go out of business and I predict that will happen here. Why you ask? Well the gyro felt like it was over cooked and also stored in a liquid or grease to keep it from drying out. It was nasty. The chicken was decent but let's be real, the gyro meat should be the star of the show. The rice felt like it was old some pieces were crunchy. I ordered the falafel and they cooked them while I waited and they were burnt and overcooked and hard to bite into. I really think the gyro meat made me sick. Honestly, and I hate to say this the best thing from this order we're the small pieces of tomato's. Maybe the bar is set high in my head because I'm used to if being fresh right off the grill and not sitting in a container but regardless none of it was good so even if I didn't know how it should taste I still would not return. read more

I loooooove the Arlington location because the beef cuts werent chopped like ground beef, and it was sliced like actual gyro meat. The place is clean the food is good! I will be back, but the Arlington store is number 1 in DFW hands down, this location is new but it reserves the #2 spot for me! read more

Let me start off by saying I have eaten Halal Guys on Lemmon Ave in Dallas and on Ave Of The Americas in NY. By far and large The one on Lemmon Ave. is the closest I have had to the original in NYC. I recently changed jobs and was excited to see that there was one close by. I was excited as the line was long so to me that was an indication that the food has to be good. The wait was about 5-10 minutes and I place my order. I got it to go and as soon as I got in my car I open it up. It was messy but who cares. First bite and I was disappointed to the fullest. The meat was dry and some pieces crunchy and old tasting. I can believe people are lined up for this crap. If the line wasn't so long I would have gone back and asked for a refund. So disappointing. I ended up stopping at RaceTrac and getting some peanuts because I had waited and wasted my time in line for some inedible crap! read more

MacArthur location can definitely use better guest service compared to other DFW metroplex locations.

This is one of my cheat meal spots. It's not particularly healthful but definitely tasty and you get a nice portion. A combo bowl also has that variety of rice, naan, and a couple of types of protein - so it's not just one taste throughout. Sauce it up. Don't be afraid of the hot sauce. read more

Stopped by this place on a whim after making my total wine run on Saturday. The staff was very friendly and the place was clean; requiring masks and social distancing. I ordered the beef plate that comes with yellow basmati rice and pita bread. You have a choice to add lettuce, tomato, green peppers, white onions and jalapeños. I chose all except jalapeños. I also opted for the white sauce and red sauce on the side. While the beef was tender, I did expect it to be a tad more flavorful given the tradition of typical gyro style meat. Also, the onions and green peppers were raw..very fresh but raw. Again, I would have hoped for a bit of char or softening at least to help marry in the flavors. I added in a side of fries which were crinkled cut and perfect! All in all, it's a pretty good quick bite if you want something other than a burger, chicken sandwich or taco. Was really excited to try this place. It will work in a pinch, but there are much better options in the Metroplex. Staff was friendly and inside was clean. The most important part though ---- the food ---- was bland. I ordered the chicken/beef combo platter. Half of the bowl was filled with iceberg lettuce. It seemed like the majority of the other half was the rice. Both of these ingredients, as well as the meat, were not particularly flavorful. The white sauce was not bad, but the red sauce is pretty much just spicinesss.....again, not a whole lot of flavor. The pita bread inside was soggy and sad. Look, you need to go into Halal Guys with the right expectations. The food is a hit because it's a tasty treasure of "street cart" food, not gourmet fine dining. That said, it's a delicious guilty pleasure when done right (and also slathered in both the hot and white sauces, which are key). The food is tasty, and with the proper hot to white sauce ratio, should leave your mouth stinging in the best way that satisfies your spicy cravings. This location is brand new, clean, has great service and moves your order through quickly. They also sell giant squeeze bottles of the white sauce to keep at home, which I plan to pick up sometime soon... now they just need to bottle the hot sauce! read more

Friendly staff and environment. However not so tasty food. Got the chicken platter and was disappointed. A bowl half filled with lettuce and other half with rice (no flavour). Along with chicken pieces, tomatoes as toppings, 4 pieces of pita bread and white and barbeque sauce (not spicy). 10$ is too steep a price for the taste offered. Not coming back for sure. read more

Halal Guys had been overhyped by some of my friends. Never had a location close by so this was my first visit and unfortunately the last. There were 2 workers there and they were overwhelmed by the orders of 2 people. I couldn't imagine them with a Friday night crowd. Food was not that good. Workers there were lost so I really can't call it bad service. The interior is weird. And I tried going there again on Friday as my wife wanted to try it and there was not a soul inside and nearby places were packed. I really don't see what all the hubbub is about. The white sauce is nothing but mayo (check ingredients, that's how mayo is made) and a pinch us unidentifiable green spice, maybe dill. Meat was greasy leaving a nasty fat coating in mouth. Could they possibly make the iced tea any weaker? I don't think so. Not only unimpressive, just bad. And it was obnoxiously loud.
