Roast lab and Beef Gyro Platter. Oh my!!!
    Sam B.

I have previously reviewed this location and come here often. Today was sad because there appears to be a management issue. I could not understand the woman taking order and wife had similar problems. Initial order was online but was cancelled 2 minutes later. No reason given. Got 2 plates and side humas. The pita all had a very weird paint / chemical smell and peculiar flavor. Check my reviews. I come here as a go to place but this location is disappointing. Look at other recent reviews. Really won't come back. So ask about the meats / veggies and sauces. They were ok. Wife thought they were good but I know what is normal and this was not that quality. The gyro meat was dried out and not like normal. The chicken was good but not consistent within the serving for doneness. No trays to carry food and containers were not easy to carry open without dropping stuff out. What is going on at this location?!?

The chicken in the chicken platter looks and tastes just like the Tyson frozen chicken. Very alarming meal. Does not taste fresh at all. Do not recommend at all.

I visited the Halal Guys Parkwood location on 4/19/2025 around 7:15 PM. As a regular customer who comes here at least twice a week, I know exactly what a regular bowl should look like. I ordered my usual: a regular bowl with no rice, just lettuce and combo meat. What I got was a joke--barely any meat, far less than what's standard. When I brought it up to the staff, they called the manager. I waited over 5 minutes for her to show up, and when she finally did, she couldn't have cared less. I explained the issue calmly, and her response? "This is how we give it, either you take it or you don't." No apology, no effort to make it right, and a completely dismissive attitude. She made it clear she didn't value customer feedback at all. This kind of customer service is exactly how brands lose loyal customers. If you're looking for decent food, fair portions, and basic respect--go anywhere else. This location is a disgrace to the Halal Guys name.

They came out with this limited chicken shawarma and I really hope they will keep it because it's so much better then their regular chicken. This restaurant is usually pretty clean and has a good amount of seating inside and outside. Staff is pretty nice and I never had any issues here. The red sauce is spicy but for people who is good with spicy it's not that bad. I asked for a lot of red sauce and the guy had to ask me if I was sure because it's spicy . Idk I don't think it's that bad but I can see how it can be unbearable for someone who can't handle any spice.

Delicious food and wonderful service. I got the chicken and lamb wrap with baklava for dessert . I had it Uber eated so I was not in the restaurant but I assume the ambiance would be wonderful. Overall: 9.75/10 Food: 9.5/10 Price: 10/10 Service: 10/10

I love the food here. I've eaten at Halal Guys in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and here in Plano, the food here is seriously consistent no matter where I've been. Yes, it's still fast food, but somehow feels healthier than a burger and fries, and it's very filling. I always get the Falafel Platter; their sandwiches are really good too. The white sauce is awesome and really adds a kick to the food. The red sauce really packs a lot of flavors, but be careful to only add a little to your meal because it's very spicy. The hummus here is one of my favorites, and the Baba ghanoush is pretty tasty too. You really can't go wrong here, it's all delicious!

Tried the chicken shawarma limited time option and it was really good!! Got plenty of chicken in my bowl and overall they were pretty generous at this location in terms of portions. Service was fast and all the ingredients tasted pretty fresh also; I basically inhaled my food after I got it. I love the spicy red sauce and will definitely have to ask for more next time I come! If you haven't been to a Halal Guys, you're missing out.

I haven't eaten this genre of food in a while and heard good things about halal guys. I am here to inform you that this place is horrid. The chicken is dry and flavorless and the rice is bland. I honestly despised the food and it wasn't worth the experience I had ok the toilet the next morning. Horrible food and gyro shop clears.

I love halal guys! That red sauce is super hot. Atmosphere- 4/5 - decent seating area. Staff - 4/5 - Friendly Food - What I ordered. - Gyro plate - 5/5 - I love that rice, meat and sauce combo. - Gyro - 5/5 - See above but exchange the rice with pita. The red and white sauces are sooo good. I can drench it all with both. But yes, that red sauce is awfully hot. So good. I love halal guys. I will come here time and time again.

When in Dallas, definitely a pit stop at my fav Halal guys. No compromise on quality compared to the actual halal guys in NY. Definitely coming back here when we visit Dallas.

For example, I can generally tell a good Chinese place from a mediocre one based on certain dishes that's being offered or what the place is calling it, same with Mexican. Is it failproof? Absolutely not. But it gives me an idea of what we're working with. However, "Mediterranean" I feel like is such a broad term and maybe because DFW doesn't have a ton of Persian options, the restaurants tend to offer more mainstream menu items, like kabobs and gyros. And let's face it, we've all had dried kabobs and subpar gyro. As my colleague and I sat down and stared at the small (and honestly a bit pricey) menu, I was almost regretful for choosing the restaurant. However, we stayed because this place had such high ratings on both Google and Yelp. And in reviews we trust! I stared at the chicken kabob option and ended up ordering it. Would I have liked a little something more than just chicken and rice and a blackened tomato for the price? Yes. But was it one of the best chicken and rice and blackened tomato I've had in a Mediterranean restaurant? Also yes. The rice had flavor, the chicken was moist and the tomato was chef's kiss. I stole a couple of french fries from my colleagues plate and she assured me that her gyro was also great. The simpleness of the dish plus the perfect execution was enough to convince me of returning soon.

Given it was 12:30pm we were happy to see this place was quite full but still had a table for the 2 of us inside. There is a terrace which might be an option for our next visit. Yea you read that right, we will definitely be back. For lunch we ordered the octopus appetizer which was nice a tender, perfectly grilled and simply served with the most perfect vinaigrette. Nothing more than a little squeeze of lemon over it and you could have brought me a dozen more. But we had to save room for our mains. I chose the gyros salad and my wife the baked haddock with Greek potatoes and string beans. Both dishes were perfect. Not too fancy and just what the doctor ordered. Overheard several tables around us that they were repeat customers so we must have stumbled on to something good. So if you are thinking Greek, check this place out. You won't be disappointed

The main dish just wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't because it wasn't well made, it was more of a texture preference for me. The potatoes were a little overcooked for my liking, although a friend at our table said his were great. I did, however, love the gigantes! Our table also shared the Trio of Dips (tirokafteri, hummus, and skordalia), the moussaka, the Brazilian steak, and the Aegean stuffed pepper. The tirokafteri and hummus were both delicious. The skordalia wasn't for me, but that's simply because it's essentially a chilled potato dip, not a reflection of the restaurant. The Brazilian steak was fantastic, great flavor and cooked perfectly. The stuffed pepper and moussaka also got a thumbs-up from our group. I believe our server's name was Uli, and he was good. He took the time to explain several dishes. Greek food probably isn't at the top of my personal favorites list, but this one was ok.

I looked at the food online and it looked like there was a good variety and a coworker told me they thought it was good but I still had to see for myself. I got a good variety the first time around from the spicy hummus, pasta, salad, variety of chicken and rice, fried chicken, baked tilapia, and chicken kabobs, and fish. I'd recommend this spot if someone is looking for an ethnic buffet and I know it was a ideal location for people celebrating Ramadan and breaking their fast.

We arrived as a party of five on a medium-busy Sunday evening. The tables were a reasonable distance apart, and the noise level was also fair. The food was delicious. Having not experienced authentic Turkish food before, the mention of authenticity made my group eager to give Cafe Istanbul a try. Ordering was painless and easy. There are entrees for individual meals and easy options for groups to share family-style, which we opted for. We ordered an appetizer platter with beef meatball, baba ganoush, hummus, and phyllo borek (ground beef with spices and onions inside a deep-fried phyllo wrapper). It was a bit odd that there were different amounts of each (2 meatball, 4 phyllo borek, and dollops of baba ganoush and hummus were only enough to get a small taste each) but it was balanced out by the portion size of the entree. For the entree, we opted for the mixed grill plate to share. It had chicken shish kebab, lamb kebab, adana kebab (ground lamb, pepper, and spices), grilled chicken wings, and chicken beyti (ground chicken and spices, grilled). This was served with rice and red cabbage on the side. Individually, each amount seemed small, but given that this plate was meant for two, we were still pleasantly full after polishing this off. Everything was well seasoned. The meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. I'd especially recommend the chicken beyti. The here service was swift and outstanding. We were quickly offered menus, waters, and utensils. Our waters were refilled quickly, and the kitchen took our request to plate the lamb separately in stride. The moment after my fork fell to the ground, a member of their serving staff swooped to fetch it (it was behind my chair) while another brought me a new one. It was a very well-rehearsed dance. Worth mentioning is also the fact that there were two separate groups dining that evening (a large family, and a group of friends) to celebrate a birthday. This is a restaurant worthy of birthday celebrations :) Overall, the portions are decent and filling, the food is delicious, and the service is exceptional. Consider visiting this restaurant next time you're in the area; you'll be glad that you did!
