I cannot recommend the laundromat Sit & Spin more highly! The staff are wonderful. They are always quick to help and are very thoughtful. The site is large enough that you can take care of MANY loads of laundry if the chore has been put on the back burner for a few months but you are down to your least comfortable bra or your tighty whities that have become uncomfortably tight. Even on busy weekends there seems to always be at least one machine available ans the staff, who are always busy with drop offs, will let you use a machine before them. The LARGE load machines may seem expensive ($11, I believe) but I was able to fit an area rug (5ft x 8ft) in with room to spare. What is especially nice is that Sit & Spin is in the same building (with an a-joining door) to a wonderful tea shop called Qualitea (coffee and a few snacks are also on the menu). Qualitea is a lovely tea shop with indoor & outdoor seating. There are baskets full of board games, local free papers and a few snacks for sale and, best of all, the staff will not hassle you if you stay a while until your laundry finishes. read more

Very nice attendant lady I'm guessing the owner. She helped me as this was my first time here washing & drying. I paid cash then received a laundry card. Nice clean washers took about 23 a load. Went for first time not long ago when my long time dry cleaner closed their location due to the difficulties that the city and county make it to own and operate any biz within the city (as if it need be any more difficult beyond being a pricey as hell Place to lay your head); but the lasy running the launder/dry cleaner service was great to deal with and was detail oriented and patient considering it was my first Time there and I wanted to feel out the lay of The land. Had about 40 articles dry cleaned since I hadn't brought dry cleaning in since 2022 and was running out of fresh suits. Less than a week and they had it all nice and ready to roll. Will go again (this time when I'm at about half that number of articles so the bill isn't quite as high)...that said it was worth it, and they did an excellent job. My local laundry mat closed for two months for refurbishment. I've driven by Sit-n-Spin for years. I decided to give it a try. Awesome! So clean and the teachers and dryers are in perfect working condition. The dryers do cost .05 more than the other laundry mats but they dry in half the time. I'm glad my old laundry mat closed. They use to be great. Now the bathroom smells and looks terrible and filthy and they damage your clothes with bleach and won't take responsibility for it or compensate. The owner just kept trying to explain WHY it happened. The day attendant is 100% rude. He yells at you and looses your laundry. The owner nickel and dimes you. Recently he added and hand written note to my PO BOX saying he is going to charge me $5 a day to hold my mail. This is not only not in the PO BOX contract he is targeting me. He charged me $50 tp repair some straps. He didn't consult on the price and the job wasn't great. His evening attendant (arrives after 2pm) is fantastic. She does amazing laundry. I wish I could her her away. She is the only reason I stayed. But after this latest $5 a day stunt forget it. read more

I needed a zipper repaired on a designer bag that I had. I took it to them and got amazing customer service and they fixed my bag really well. Initially we didn't know if they'd have to replace the zipper but instead they found a way to fix the existing zipper which ended up being a cheaper solution and looked better than putting a new one in. Both the lady at the sit and spin and the seamstress they contract with were very responsive. Highly recommend this place for great quality repairs. read more

This laundry mat is not only clean, has quality machines, and also has the friendliest staff. I had mistakenly put too much soap in the machine and opposed to them getting upset with me, they went above and beyond to help me. I would recommend anyone I know to come here. Worse than a simple ghetto laundry, expensive, complicated, unfriendly, no wifi. You have to "buy" a plastic card to "put your money on" to use the equipment. Attendant "yells" advice at you. This place is fantastic! Like another reviewer, I came here to use the machines because my washer and dryer broke down, and I'm waiting for the repair. I am writing this review while waiting for the final minutes of my dryer cycle. Also like the other reviewer, I'll try the wash-and-fold service if I don't have my own working washer/dryer after a contractor visit this week. I just asked the manager whether they will hang dry certain items with the wash-and-fold service or whether I could drop only items that can go in the dryer. She said that you can isolate any items that require air drying, and she will hang them to dry. I don't know whether all wash-and-fold services work that way, but it was important to me since I have a lot of air dry-only clothes. The manager said she's here all the time, and since I live nearby, I can attest that I always see her in here. That adds a major safety element, though the neighborhood is safe to begin with. But it was nice to leave my clothes today and walk around the Castro, rather than having to wait in the laundromat so no one would steal my clothes. Also, if you use the wash-and-fold service, she said you can drop off or pick up your clothes at any time they're open because she is always there. So it's not like one of those laundromats that has different hours for customer service than for machines. They have a little seating area, free wi-fi, and clean and large machines. You use a card to power them, but not your own credit card--you pay for the card with cash. So be sure to bring cash. If you don't have cash, there is an ATM right outside. With non-working machines at home and a few loads of laundry built up, I'm feeling really grateful for this place. read more

The washing machine in my building is broken and as we're waiting for a part to arrive I had to find a laundromat where I could do my laundry. I've come here this weekend and last weekend to do laundry. This laundromat is very clean and the manager/attendant is very helpful. Both times that I've stopped by to use the washers I've been able to step out of the laundromat to take a walk or get some coffee while waiting for the washing machine cycle to complete , as she is always there and I'm not worried about my laundry getting stolen. There's also a wash and fold service which I might use in future if we have to continue to wait for our washing machine to be repaired. read more

I came here after my apartment buildings laundry machines stopped working. The owner is very kind and professional. The machines are clean. You use a card to work the machines. 4.75 per load to wash and I think 1 dollar for every 12 minutes or so to dry and it's fast. I was very happy here as the owner was incredibly nice. I had a silk skirt altered here and the seamstress did an amazing job!! And it wasn't a simple alteration - she basically rebuilt the skirt (it was way way too big for me) and had to work around some intricate detailing in order to preserve it. It turned out beautifully. I went here for the first time recently. Jeti (pron. YEH-tee) was so helpful and pleasant. I had a somewhat difficult alteration to a jacket that they helped me gauge the scope and price of, and then the execution was to my liking. The other staff were helpful too--there was a bit of a language barrier with another employee who helped me on the phone and then in person, but they were patient and courteous while making sure the important points were understood. My only complaint and that nobody tell you here in the reviews Is that you have to be inserting the laundry "easy card" at least 4 times so you clothes get dried. Sit and spin or stand up and spin? because you have to stand up all the time just to insert the card again. read more

Not super wild about their dry cleaning services (it's all sent out anyway) but the one time I used the services and needed a rush job, for which I willing to pay extra, my dress wasn't back in time and I still had to pay $14. My first visit was tonight and I've got to say, the service was spectacular. Not only did the woman working there allow me to start my load after they technically do not accept any more wash loads, she also went out of her way to help me get the card loaded. I didn't have any cash on me so she put in a spare card she had and paid for my wash load while I went to a nearby atm and got money out! She also informed me of the wi-fi and bathroom available to customers. Combine this with philz next door (which for me translates as delicious vegan baked goods) and you've got quite the amenities. I was a little put off at the cost of the washer load ($3.95) until i saw the sign that says each washer is a triple load capacity! Wish I had brought some towels too. Dryers are at .40 cents per 7 minutes, so I did all my laundry a little over $5 - not too bad! Definitely will be gladly coming here for my next laundry experience read more

This business has lost a good regular customer. The 2nd time they've CLOSED before what stating business hours are posted. My clothes would be just out of the wash. I would show up and my wet clothes would be in a basket and I'd be turned away since they want to close much earlier than usual. I went in to have some curtains altered after reading good reviews here. The first couple times I visited there was a Chinese-American laundry attendant on duty. I tried to explain what I needed done but due to his lack of fluency in English I was not confident that I was making myself understood. He was very polite and attentive and courteous, but I wasn't going to have leave my articles for alteration without trusting that the person doing the work understood what I needed done. I found out who the owner was and came back later. Kenny took my order and gave me a price quote: $35 for each curtain panel times four equals $140 and told me he'd do the whole job for $100. The curtains only cost me $60 and I'm paying almost twice that to have them shortened, but what do you expect when you purchase goods made in China on Amazon and have them altered in San Francisco? Okay... The work was finished four days ahead of the promised date and they did a fine job. But the female attendant charged me $110, ten dollars above the price that Kenny gave me. I didn't want to argue so I paid it. The curtains look great. I'm satisfied. read more

I'm visiting for a month and only brought a carryon's worth of clothes, so I went looking for a wash & fold place like home (New York) and I love this place so much. My place at home is next day - here, they're willing to turn around your clothes in just 4 hours. My clothes are clean, neat, and folded in record time. They are also - as others have noted, so kind and friendly in a way I'm just not that familiar with! Needed a local laundromat so I checked this place out. The owner is super nice and explained everything to me. The only issue was that it was hard to hear over the masks. The washer only takes 23 mins! That's amazing. Then the dryer is about 0.50 for 7 mins. I was a bit confused on how to add more time but like I said, the owner explained everything and now I'm a pro! One of the simple pleasures of my week is being able to walk the half mile over to Sit and Spin with my laundry, stake out my claim to Norman and Josephine (my favorite washer and dryer, respectively), and then enjoy a good book and a cup of cocoa while my clothes get their tidiest. I particularly enjoy how warm the laundromat is - it keeps me cozy as I sit on top of the counter in the middle of the shop (yes, I am THAT girl who sprawls out in public like I'm on my couch back home). Although I'll often sneak a peak at the TV (always playing the Travel Channel, of course), I genuinely enjoy being able to slow down my life a bit and really savor my drink and absorb what I am reading. I get so lost in the moment that I often don't even notice that my clothes are ready or that I'm spending $6 total to wash and dry a load of laundry. The only way that Sit and Spin could make the experience any better is to have unstacked machines so we girls can sit on top. But you know what? They name the washers! Ethel, Harvey, Liberace (!), etc. That is adorable. Seriously this place is pretty great for doing laundry. It's clean, fun, and usually there's someone attractive to stare at. And if not there's a television tuned to Animal Planet or something equally ridiculous. And not that I should know this but they use the GOOD toilet paper here. None of that one-ply sandpaper business. You know what I'm sayin'... Minus one star because this place is kind of expensive ($3.95 per wash) and sometimes the card readers don't work and that causes me to become completely psychotic. read more
