Stopped here after a less than stellar dinner, to end the night with a good drink with my boyfriend before heading home. -He ordered a Dirty Martini with vodka while I opted for the Talk To Me Nice cocktail (Tequila, House Pressed Lime, Fresh Cilantro, Fresh Raspberries, Serrano Pepper) - They offer a *BIG* book of cocktails and basically every type of spirit - The 2 bartenders were super friendly and cheerful. I bet they can make some lively off-the-books drinks! - The interior decor was GIVING ME LIFE. "Cozy study with a bar nook" vibes, old-world charm, tons of different seating areas.. super beautiful in the dark and especially with the Christmas decor (I was here mid December 2023.) Wow, typing that feels like forever ago! Favorite item in the entire bar has to be the vintage cash register! Fancier menu available for dinner, which is both seafood-forward yet simultaneously loaded with American bar-food classics. Highly recommend for a date or to imbibe a nicer-than-average cocktail!

Great drinks that are properly crafted, amazing vibes (slightly noisy and packed during peak but lighting allows you to enjoy lose yourself in the vibes) The bartenders and the staff are fairly attentive and your drinks are made fairly promptly after you order. The menu itself has a good variety of drink options as well as some food. I didn't try any as the kitchen was closed by then, but definitely will be back to snack on a plethora of small bites. Think chic cocktail spot that still offers a reasonably priced full bar if cocktails are not your jam. The ambience allows you to feel like you're in a laid back bar with good music without feeling like you're in a typical sports bar or dive bar (nothing wrong with them but this place hits the right notes when you want a nice drink without the pretentiousness a cocktail spot may have but still elevated and enjoyable rather than out of place like cocktails at a sports bar) Definitely a nice date spot but be forewarned, definitely tight squeeze and loud during peak. Unless you want a normal chair, def recommend the bar or the 2 high top seats with a ledge by the window.

I had a great time at the headless widow! The whole place was packed on Saturday night. The drinks were incredible, and service was really efficient. My favorite drink was the Passenger Princess. I would go back just for that. It was floral but not overly sweet and just delicious. They have happy hours till 7 from Tuesday to Sunday!

Very tasty drinks! They have a good mix of alcohol forward and tastier drinks. If you have a sweet palette I recommend the lip gloss and the high tea. There is also a spicy margarita that's really tasty. We unfortunately didn't get to try the food because kitchen was closed. Ambiance was fun. Music might be a little too loud if you want a more intimate environment. Service was good. How long you wait is partially luck.

Stopped by for a cocktail in the afternoon. The place is very unpretentious which I appreciate, instead it feels like your local cocktail bar that serves great specialty cocktails. We got the Diablo's Margarita (spicy margarita) and the Ginger Man. Both had cute garnishes. The marg was pretty standard, I wish I got something more special but it was still good. The Ginger cocktail was also good.

Headless Widow is a banger. It's a very non-assuming bar from the outside, but it's very cute and cozy on the inside (and feels kinda rustic, but in a charming way) The bar tenders are also really sweet and were really helpful with the recommendations! (Disclaimer, I like fruity drinks.) But every drink I ordered, it was strong but you couldn't really tell. I also thought every drink was refreshing as well. The best part is that every drink was presented in such a cute way (besides Thee tea cup cocktail)! 10/10 would recommend and come back multiple times for a chill night out.

This cocktail bar and restaurant is a solid must-visit when we come to the East Village. Each cocktail is positively exquisite, crafted by someone who is intimately familiar with the subtle flavors and fragrances of spirits and spices, and who has a consummate eye for presentation. I won't even try to say which drink is my favorite, because each new one served was an absolute taste sensation, and seemingly even better than the last. Do yourself a favor and try to avoid your old favorites (though they're also bound to be beautifully done), and let the bartender (especially Eddy) serve you up something just right. As food goes, each thing I've had was sublime, and even with the small'ish menu they have a pretty full range of nosh - seems like I tend to go for soft pretzels and nachos, or ceviche and mussels. (Pretty sure they have fare for the steak and pasta tastes too.) I should mention that the ambience is lovely, dark and intimate, lit by candles and dim sconces... reminiscent of an old port tavern. Definitely great for a classy ladies night or a romantic date, but It can get a little loud due to its popularity and minimal spacing between tables/stools. You might consider getting there ahead off the crowd. We've always been just lucky enough to find a spot for two, though!

Drinks were delicious. I really liked the time traveler and asked for it with less lemon which I would highly recommend. Ambiance was good. Fun music. It was very small inside, so be prepared to be close to the tables next to you. We split the arancini and nachos, which were both very good. The nachos were very cheese which I liked. Service was a little slow.

We were grabbing drinks while waiting for an event to start nearby. Ended up parking close to this spot and decided to walk in after deciding against a dive bar. Immediately upon entry we were greeted by a particular waiter--- whose name he didn't throw and I didn't catch. Water is served and the service was attentive all the way through. Four stars only because the ceiling had some very visible water damage and bubbles that looked ready to pop any minute. Otherwise, the place looks cozy and has a intimate atmosphere. The drinks are delicious, especially crafted and made me want to try everything on the menu. Particularly I've had the Typsy scale, smokey and the Bandit and the Guillotini. I wish I would tell you which one I liked the most but they were all very good. So good that when we went to the event I kept wishing I had one of these cocktails. For food we had the oysters and calamari and they were delicious! Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Perfect for date night or catching up with an intimate group of friends.

Went here on my birthday because the place I originally wanted to go couldn't accommodate a party of 7 and I had wanted to finish the night getting drinks here so we wandered around and ended up there early and not only did the accommodate our party that got bigger as the night went on but we're super friendly brought us drinks and food to the outdoor area and we're super helpful and patient as multiple drunk people tried to do math on splitting the bill. The food was amazing but the drink were spectacular. I will definitely go back when in that neighborhood again. read more

Very nice new spot. Great looking comfy bar and seating. Went before a show on St Mark's. The bartenders were extremely friendly and relaxed. Placing glasses of water with our cocktails. I had a nice bourbon cocktail, and we had the nachos the were nicely laid out and tasted pretty good with well made guacamole. Would go back for sure. read more

We had an absolute blast here over the holidays. While we are westsiders, this is worth the effort to make your way east. The staff is beyond excellent and attentive, ready to chat and take care of your drinks all at once. We had several dishes amongst a party of 3, and everything was quite tasty. As with most places in the area, expect to be cozy with your neighbors and overhear a couple conversations, but you'll absolutely enjoy your time here. read more

This place is so cute! I found the Headless Widow on Yelp when deciding on a place for birthday drinks with some friends. We had no trouble getting a reservation for six people on a Thursday evening! Some highlights included the beet cocktail (so interesting! Like where else can you get that??), their massive New York Pretzel with cheese sauce, and nachos. Both my vegan friends ordered the eggplant steak but did not enjoy it at all, but that was the only negative. The staff was incredibly sweet and attentive as well, ending the night with a free round of shots! Check this place out, definitely worth a visit. read more

Showed up on a Friday night with co-workers and friends to unwind in a subtle bar that is not as noisy as others nearby. Loved the atmosphere, not too loud nor packed where its hard to find a seat. Best part of this were the staff whom are attentive and quick to take your drink orders. They were able to accomodate for a table of 6 right on the spot without much hassle like other places nearby: "You have to have a reservation" . Looking forward to coming back here and making this place my regular go to place just because it is not loud and it is quite comfy so I really recommend this place for those who want to meet friends and socialize without the yelling across due to the loud music. read more

Nice cocktail bar. Very busy on a Friday night. Service was a bit spotty as I heard many people asking for their server. I sat at the bar and got tended to pretty quickly. Ordered the smokey and the bandit strawberry mezcal cocktail. It was fresh strawberry puree and lime juice. Cocktail was delicious and came with a strawberry marshmallow. There was definitely a line for the restroom. Dimly lit so probably best for an after dinner date cocktail. read more

I was there yesterday at happy hour with a friend. I wanted to point out that the way you display your HH deals is not clear at all. For happy hour you have Craft Cocktails for $13 listed on the sign outside. My friend and I both ordered a craft cocktail from the menu intending to purchase happy hour drinks. We didn't find out until later on that only the cocktails with the letters "HH" on the menu qualify for the $13 price. You can imagine this is confusing, not only for us, but also for the waitress who was new - she accidentally misinformed us. We brought the issue up with the manager on site yesterday. We asked him if he can honor the price at $13 given the obvious confusion. He said nothing can be done about it but told us to not tip the server. I had no intention of screwing over the server. She was pleasant otherwise. And she just like us was confused; like I said your sign is misleading. Besides, I find it bizarre for a manager to be suggesting to customers NOT to tip his server. It puts the customer in an awkward spot. For him to suggest that means he agrees that we were misled. And if he thinks we were misled, the proper way to handle it is by doing the reasonable thing and honoring the $13 price. Nonetheless, we paid the $17, we tipped the server, and overall left with an unpleasant experience. read more

A new-comer to the East Village, they're still ironing out the kinks... but the great effort (in the service) earns a star on its own. We had a reservation in the small place but the previous group at our table was a bit slow leaving after paying the bill. Our server (the boss?) made every effort to accommodate us while we waited. More than that, the staff was willing to shuffle chairs and tables as our six-person reservation grew to 9. We can recommend the huge pretzel and the fine fish and chips (though the chips were french fries and not British-style chips)... Yes, it was too loud, but (and this NEVER happens) when one of us complained, they actually TURNED IT DOWN!. Wow! That's service. --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers, a different bar every week. read more

We stopped into this place shortly upon arriving in New York and what a great choice it was. They had happy hour on Saturday which is a huge score. They had deals on wine, beer, and cocktails. I can't remember the name of the drink I got but it has Prosecco and amaretto and was so so so delicious. The staff was so nice and welcoming! They were so friendly, which you hear the New York stereotypes so we were extremely pleased. We sat by the window and it was a wonderful people watching spot. read more

I just recently had my birthday here and it was a wonderful success. Not only did they have my preferred Vodka (by coincidence), the team here also indulged me by naming a drink after me for the the evening. The food here is fantastic, elevated bar snacks. The vibe is grown up, but not too much that it becomes stuffy. I'm looking forward to being here again.. especially when the weather gets warmer. If there ever an "anchor" bar for this block, where the service is amazing and the beers are cold at all hours, this is it. Eddie and his sister Azra and the rest of this crew are making this near perfect destination. Friendly, super thoughtful service, really beautiful atmosphere, and now amazing food... had been waiting for an unpretentious and solid spot like this to finally open in the only neighborhood I've ever called home. Decent bar with interesting drinks. I came here with some friends after having a birthday dinner at another restaurant. It was Halloweekend--and despite it being in the middle of a pandemic--lots of bars were busy. The Headless Widow had available seats and they were outside. It was a little cold in the tent for an October night but we made do. The food was decent. Nothing to praise about that I can think of. I can say that I did appreciate the friendly service here. read more

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

They are also broken up into categories (dry land = no alcohol, shallows = average amount of alcohol, and abyss (larger amounts of alcohol). The abyss section has some cocktails that are limited to two per customer. They have some bar bites like fried green tomatoes, shrimp toast, broiled oysters, ricotta, dumplings, sliders. I had the French fries with kimchi ranch, which were underwhelming. Bartenders were cool and kept the drinks coming. I got in immediately without an issue or a wait, but it was right after a snowstorm. I've seen some people struggle to get in or have a long wait.

So, as out-of-town visitors staying in New Jersey, we spent nearly $100 on an Uber and several hours of our day returning to retrieve it. When we arrived, the bag had mysteriously vanished. What followed was one of the most ridiculous customer service experiences I've ever had. We were met by a group of very young, completely unprepared hostesses who seemed utterly clueless about the situation. Nobody knew where the bag was. Nobody knew who had logged it. Nobody knew who we spoke to on the phone. Nobody appeared interested in finding answers. I repeatedly asked for a manager and got nowhere. It felt like nobody in the building had the authority, training, or desire to solve a problem that their own staff created. Let's review: Your employee tells us the bag is there. We spend nearly $100 on transportation to come get it. We arrive. The bag is gone. And the response is essentially a collection of blank stares and shoulder shrugs. No urgency. No accountability. No explanation. No solution. I've never seen a business so casually waste a customer's time and money. We left feeling completely dismissed and frankly wondering whether anyone at Fraunces Tavern has any idea what customer service is supposed to look like. Hundreds of dollars spent at the establishment. Nearly $100 spent returning because we trusted what we were told. And in the end, absolutely nothing except aggravation, frustration, and a complete loss of confidence in this business. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.

Guys, do some QC and soul-searching - and be generous with pita.

We stumbled upon this spot during a bar-hopping adventure and were pleasantly surprised. Although quiet when we arrived, it gradually filled up as the evening progressed. The rustic decor and welcoming staff created a cozy atmosphere. We stopped by for a quick cocktail, ordering an Old Fashioned and a Guillitoni, both expertly crafted.
