Ordered the Hideaway burger, decent size, expensive, over $18(cheese added) for a very dry, overdone, unseasoned or under seasoned burger, I thought the tots came with the burger instead of fries, but that was an additional $2.50 charge, my bad for asking the waitress and not reading the fine print. Also ordered a corona, very reasonably priced for the beer. Tip included almost $31 for a very mediocre burger and unseasoned tater tots. Save yourself 20 bucks and hit Burger King and order a double whooper with cheese instead much better burger. Leaving a star because the food is actually pretty fire. Yall have a waitress who has the most disgusting attitude I've ever witnessed it actually left me speechless. she told my GRANDMOTHER "SHH! I'm talking" and my brother "Im not an octopus" when he asked for a side of something. she literally yelled at our table multiple times and tried to pass it off as some quirky personality. On top of all that this entire experience took 2 hours & we weren't really checked on which I could care less about if we weren't being berated by our waitress lol. That... As someone who is doing an all protein diet it's hard to find places so great at accommodating my needs as well as making it easy to get what I need at a reasonable price. This is the BABB burger which is usually all loaded up. A 1 lb bacon cheese burger. Out of this world served with fries usually. Right around $20 . Plenty to serve 2. They gave me 3 eggs instead of the bread, veggies, and fries for a hearty meal I can't say enough how great it was. Perfectly cooked and seasoned.the staff was friendly and helpful. We went to breakfast here last Sunday morning and it was delicious! I got the chicken fried steak and it was very crispy, light and tasty. My husband and mother got omelets, and my sister got pancakes, dad got the 2 eggs standard breakfast. All of it was wonderful. A big standout was the bacon, it was delicious! The food here is surprisingly not all that greasy compared to most diners but still manages to have that soul food taste. The staff were very efficient despite a food mixup, but it was early morning so I think that can be forgiven. The vibe is both an uplifting cultural diner, and a slightly modern touch. I truly do not want to give bad reviews, but our breakfasts were not good. I can't speak for my friend's specific experience other than she was not impressed with her meal; but that said, my eggs benedict wasn't just not good, it was terrible. I really should have brought it up to the server, so that's on me. If you don't know how to make hollandaise, then don't serve a dish that requires it. If you don't know how to make a proper poached egg (mine was not the least bit runny, as they need to be for this dish), then don't make this dish. And lastly - DO NOT use deli/sandwich meat as your ham base if you do not understand its importance to the recipe. Get Canadian bacon or, at the very least, a proper slice of real ham, not chopped/formed trash. Oh, and there is NO cheese in/on this dish. Seeing it sprinkled with shreds of cheese did not make me any more inclined to eat and/or enjoy it. Either make it correctly, or take it off the menu. Don't let some of the prices scare you. The quantity of food is plenty and taste great. The issue we had tonight, the waitress was overwhelmed with the amount of people that came in and were waiting. Big portions and quirky staff, it was a great diner breakfast. My eggs, toast, crispy bacon, and pancakes were all cooked great. My other loved the French toast. A friend enjoyed the baskets and gravy. Another friend was less impressed with the eggs Benedict. He thought the hollandaise tasted like a cheese sauce. Funny place... the waitress explained the corned beef hash was from a can and got insulted when asked if the gravey with the biscuits was made in house. Stopped in on a Saturday morning. The kids were happy with their waffles and pancakes, but my chicken fried steak was small and best described as warm. The gravy was not even room temperature. The waitress seemed more interested in chatting with the locals at the counter than waiting on customers, everything took twice as long as it should have. The waitresses were easily heard complaining about their customers while congregating at the front counter. Must be a lack of options in Belfair, or people have just gotten used to this place. We stopped by on a whim and let me say, we left with a full belly and a smile on our faces. I had the chicken fried steak and pretty much inhaled it! The gravy was so hearty and the chicken fried steak just melted in my mouth. One of the best I've had! The mash potatoes were on point and even the broccoli was well steamed. My husband ordered the burger and he said everything was fresh and it tasted good, but the real winner was their clam chowder! I don't even like clam chowder and I'm thinking I need to go back and get my own bowl! Dirty and expensive. There does exist a 15 dollar burger that's worth the money but this isn't it. I've lived on the peninsula for years but I always missed this place because it didn't look interesting. Making a point of finally trying it today, we ordered the BLT and the blue cheese burger. Each was around fifteen bucks and I got the onion rings substitution. The burger and sandwich were actually tasty. The onion rings sucked and were clearly not in-house. If you upcharge, it needs to be worth the price. Maybe I would pay 5-6 dollars. Not fifteen. Now onto the flies. It was insane how many flies were floating through the air. It isn't much to look at, but the friendly server was very sweet. I was there for breakfast. I had read a lot about the Chicken fried steak breakfast. I had that. I had the regular sized one. There is a HUGE one for $3 more. I am a pig, and the regular was plenty. The service was smooth, timely, and great. The atmosphere is a little run down. The breakfast was generally OK, but I am freakster about country/breakfast gravy. This gravy had all the right components going on. Consistency was legit! Sausage content LEGIT. Quantity served, LEGIT! Only issue was, lacking flavor. )-: So many times, people in the kitchen do not taste their own food. If they tasted it, they would up the seasoning a bit. What a surprise: five of us met at the Hideaway in Belfaire for lunch, yesterday. The food was a total surprise, high quality, generous portions, with the most attentive hostess/bartender. The fish and chips were fresh and came with generous amounts of home made tartar sauce and the best coleslaw I've ever had. The French dip sandwich was also over the top. I usually love JRs. This is my favorite place to go after work to grab a bite to eat. I would've normally rated it a 5/5 stars hands down. But... tonight I was sexually harassed by their "hood cleaner". I was enjoying my dinner. I'm off work late many night and this has usually been a good spot to grab some late dinner before heading home. I was just done eating when he approached me at the bar. He asked how I was. I said fine, just getting off a long day. He asked what I did. I'm a trauma and chronic pain specialist. He continued to rant how can I work in a profession that helps people because no one deserves to be saved... I politely left. Got in my car. He followed me a few minutes later outside. He banged on my car. I slightly rolled down my window. Continued with his hatefulness then asked for my number. I asked him "Why the hell do you want my number?" He said "BECAUSE I HAVE A DICK AND YOU'RE HOT" I said "I'm married and have no interest in you." He grabbed my window as I drove away and called me a fucking "Bitch ass cunt" as I drive away. I'm just thankful he let go of my window. I called to report this to the bartender and she said "Oh yeah he's a little crazy, this has happened before. I'll report it to the owner." It's happened before?!? And you still keep him on?! Seriously?! Fire the guy! Find a different company. Deal with this psycho. Or is this ok for your female customers to be treated this way?! I'm not going to let this go. Your bartender on staff that night (who is an amazing human being) knows me. 3/5 at 8:30pm. Owners, as a local business owner to business owner... contact me. THE CLAM CHOWDER THOUGH!!! The club sandwich has all 3 meats; turkey, ham, and bacon! They have the BEST CLAM CHOWDER! Creamy and loose, not gloopy (even the next day), light herbs, just the right amount of butter, the chowder is not yellow, you can taste the real cream no fillers or canned base, fresh cut vegetables; celery, carrot, nice chunky cooked potatoes, thoroughly sautéed onions- not raw, not too many, large, big bacon pieces (not fatty). This is a hearty chowder. Clams weren't rubbery, sandy, or stringy and present. This is a well rounded chowder and I say the BEST CHOWDER in Mason and most of Kitsap! I've been wanting to try this place for 13 years and now that I have I'm sorry I didn't stop 13 years ago. Severs started off very welcoming and friendly, brought water and menus almost immediately, police and good with small talk without being over bearing. I had the California burger, one friend had the chicken fried steak, other had biscuits and gravy. All 3 dishes and sides were delicious and on point, also brought to us at a good time, best part was server didn't wait til my mouth was full of food before asking questions. Place was clean but had some cool blackboards on the wall with positive messages, will knock them slightly for a fly problem but that doesn't bother me as much as some people. I feel bad even writing a review, because our server was very sweet and overall a great server. But for 1 adult and 3 kids, it took an hour and a half to get our food. 1 sandwich and 3 kids burgers, 4 waters. It was a holiday (Juneteenth) but the diner side was not particularly full. I can't speak for the bar side. Because we were waiting for so long I had time to notice the dozens of flies occupying the air of the walkway. There's also a fly zapper sitting on top of a booth. There was only one sever in the diner, but there were others coming out of the kitchen likely for the bar area. I attempted to talk to one and she raised her finger to me and shooshed me, no eye contact, no smile, just an "I'm not dealing with you" gesture. I had been attempting to get an eta on our food because we weren't going to wait more than another 5 minutes, and of course that is when our server came out with our food. The food was great. Exactly what you would want in a diner. The kids meals are super affordable, $5.99 and have ice cream included. I did have an issue with my meal but my server addressed it appropriately, so I'm not going to go into detail. Overall, GREAT food. Kitchen was TERRIBLY SLOW (today, can't speak on whether it is typical or not) . Loved the server we had. Whoever is managing needs to look into what went wrong with service this afternoon. From what I overheard there was only one person cooking, not sure if that means one cook and multiple assistants, or if there is JUST one cook. The kitchen was very loud and had a lot of voices .
