So it's been a while since my last review; I usually get to have lunch with my mom but with being at home so much we've been cooking every night.. My mom has to come by to get some supplies so I took advantage and found something new for us to try. I ordered a Pastrami sandwich and normally at most places it would be hard to finish because it's usually stacked with pastrami especially if prices are a little steep. I'm giving 3 stars because my sandwich was very good but I only got 3 thin slices of Pastrami on it and for 10.25$ I won't be ordering it again ; for that price I would expect 1/3 to 1/2 lb and all the other Pastrami sandwiches I've had definitely lived up to that expectation. My moms sandwich was good as well but was a little too spicy for her so I ended up with the other half of hers since mine didn't get close to filling me up. I stumbled upon this place while in the area for work. The atmosphere and branding is great, and the staff is super kind (which seems to be rare in most places). I got the Chicken Salad sandwich and it was so delicious! I also grabbed a red velvet cake ball from the bakery and I was not disappointed! I will be going out of my way to come back here. read more

This is a great little sandwich shop. The service was great and it has indoor and outdoor seating. The only downside to this place is that the are only open from 11:00am to 2:00pm, hence the name "Daytime Eatery." And the only reason that is a downside is because their food in great! Very good Sandwich. I am in town for work, and needed a quick lunch that wasn't fast food. Ordered the Italian sandwich and small salad. It was toasted, perfectly vinegary, and not oily. My only issue was the wilted spring mix in the middle. I've never had a hot sandwich with fresh green leaves. Sautéed spinach would make more sense. Strange. Still, tasty! Another reviewer mentioned the sandwich was watery or leaking juices...it's because they use fresh ingredients and it's just a product of these being heated up. They might also use vinegar. For me, it was good. This happens when you heat up fresh ingredients, like pickles and tomato. Go get a subway if you want a dry sandwich. :). read more

Great lunch spot!!! My office is close by so it's easy to walk to. I had the blueberry havarti sandwich. Delicious! I did the half salad/half sandwich. Salad was the fruit & nut. Really good! My only reason for a 4 star is I wish they were open longer...like maybe to 3 or 4. Sometimes I go to lunch at 2 and they close at 2. That's just me though! I can't put into words how much I love this place. I have never ever had a bad thing here. The menu is small but exciting with local and fresh flavors. The GOAT is the kind of sandwich you have dreams about and then have to have the next day for lunch. If you are lucky you will be there on a day when they are inventing and trying new Ideas.... and get to sample one! The soups are homemade and make you want to slap your momma they are so good. Changing my one star review to three star because 1) manager responded very quickly 2) Everyone makes a mistake 3) A one star review is brutal for a restaurant that pretty much only gets great reviews...I'm usually an easy 5 star I was with my 82 year old mother because she had a medical procedure that morning. She was unable to eat or drink since midnight. She has a very sensitive palate and cannot eat anything spicy. She wanted soup so I suggested The Hive which I had been wanting to try. Unfortunately their only 2 soups were Tomato (too acidic for her) and chili (way too spicy ). I offered to go elsewhere but she said she will make do. We did not read all the details in the menu but she saw chicken salad which has always been one of her safe foods. I ordered the Tomato Soup. She took one bite of her sandwich and said that something in it was burning her throat. I went and looked at the menu closer and it said it had a "subtle jalapeño kick." She cannot do any jalapeños. I read the Simple Bee ingredients and they looked fine for her. She is too nice, never complains, but could not eat the sandwich. She took it back to the counter, told them she can't eat it, and asked for just a plain croissant (she was hungry). I mentioned that she could eat The Basic Bee. I was ignored and they gave her a plain croissant. I said out loud that she just paid 9.50 for a piece of bread. I understand that they gave her what she asked for. I could have been more forceful and could have asked them to give her a different sandwich. At $9.50 a sandwich they can afford to lose and replace the occasional sandwich to make a customer happy. We were first time customers and she made an understandable mistake. I sat brooding as I ate my soup and watched her eat her bread (ruined much of my day as I could not stop thinking about it and my review). I finished my review at the table and right as we were about to leave one of the staff visited our table, asked about our food (I always say fine), and offered us a sandwich to take home for later. Either they figured out I was writing an unhappy review or the manager called after I posted it. I refused the sandwich because I was not happy. We went there to try a new place with great reviews and wanted a pleasant lunch experience after a tough morning. Instead she had a $9.50 piece of bread and I ate only ok Tomato Soup. I've been here twice now and both times have been soo good! I take my food to go but the customer service is great and the sandwiches are so fresh. I sub out the chips for the salad because they're salads are really good too! This most recent time I had my dog in the car with me and they even brought out my to go order to the car. Haven't had a such a tasty sandwich in a while. I had the BLAT. Come with enough chips to make you be tired of chewing the crunchy kettle cooked salty delicious chips. They have a sugar cane soda machine. Very very tasty. Over all healthy amount of food for its price. Price wise it's a little expensive for a sandwich it's size but you get complimentary chips with it so it kinda equals out. Came in hungry and left relatively full. I consider it to be a healthy full. Full enough to be satisfied with the money I spent specially for it's taste, but not full enough to feel like a pig. read more

My new go-to! Finding fresh salads and homemade soups is no small task. The Hive has a selection of options with house made dressings and sourdough croutons. I love the attention to detail and creativity in their menu. My other half swears "The Boot" is the best sandwich he's ever had. Yesterday was the first time we tried the Hive. OMG! The sandwiches were amazing. My daughter had the basic bee (Turkey/Grouda cheese) sandwhich and I had the Boot (Italian) sandwhich both were very delicious and the bread was crunchy not soggy. Then we tried the bakery I had the hummingbird cupcake and my daughter had the champagne strawberry cupcake. The cupcakes were super moist, the best cupcake I ever had. My hummingbird cupcake was like a light spice cake with pecans and topped with lots of cream cheese frosting, it was so good and very delicious. The champagne strawberry cupcake had strawberry jam filling topped with amazing frosting. The Hive is hidden in the heart of Arlington. You have to go there. This will be my favorite spot to meet up with friends or family. Ok I went back the next day and tried their B.L.A.T sandwich made up of BLT plus avocado with jalapeño smear cream cheese it was so delicious one of the best sandwhiches. And of course I had to get their cupcakes. You have to try this place, you'll love it. read more
