Went in today to buy a grill, was blown away by the customer service that David provided. He was knowledgable, honest, and went above and beyond to help me. I left with a brand new already assembled grill and propane tank, I will be grilling in the New Years!!! Ok I know that was cheesy but how often does something like this really happen?!? I usually only review restaurants, but this is for their specialty items... i.e. carpets, tile, windows, and Kitchens. Let's just say I DO NOT recommend using Home Depot for these services. First, they charge you a fee and their subcontractors are beyond shady and overcharge every job! They never disclose the minimum charges until you invested months into this process. When shopping for appliances, there were quite a few customers and no employees to be found. On delivery day of said appliances, lo and behold, after a wasted day, still no appliances. Truck Rental: went to rent a truck to move a couch, one truck in the lot with a flat tire and no way to reserve. Seriously in this day and age, no way to reserve a truck?! Employees were rude and uncooperative. Will not be going back. Ended up renting from Uhaul Moving and Storage in Sterling, service was excellent! read more

I don't have anything against Home Depot. But today, 2 June, I walked into some drama going on, and it resulted in me being late. The first gentleman was super helpful, he helped me find exactly what I needed. The next step was to get 2 pieces of plywood cut. It took me 3 minutes up to this point to get what I needed. Enter the drama llama. Apparently "Mark" was the only one to make cuts that morning. But Mark was on break. He was "very busy" all morning. But no one else in the store could make cuts - and Mark wasn't leaving the break room. Paging Mark and having him refuse to come out of the break room lasted for at least 15 minutes. Then I was treated to stories of how his coworkers were just lazy and no one around there wants to work. I'm not sure if it's Marks fault, his co-workers, or a combination, but it was unprofessional. It might have been funny if I didn't spend 30 minutes of my day buying 2 sheets of plywood because someone was throwing a temper tantrum. read more

Some employees are very helpful and full of knowledge. I like that. It gives me confidence which I need a lot of when it comes to maintaining the house. Others are lacking 100% in the area they are working in. It can be hit or miss for the consumer who always needs help in the intimidating BOY store with too many drills and power tools and screws and hardware and I could go on and on and I have a headache already. read more

I asked 2 separate individuals, neither of which could help me. They were both in the aisles I needed, so you would think they should be able to help. I placed an online order around 4:30pm in Reston, thought my order pickup will be at the Reston location.., I ended having to get redirected from Reston store to take greenway ($7.50) of till to get either my phone having been on hold for over 35 min at this store. I came all the way out here and the phone line was still not getting answered just being put on hold for entire trip out here to the Home Depot at Greenway. Purchased GE dishwasher from Home Depot on July 3, 3022. $760, including installatio. Home Depot installers came to my home twice to install. First time could not install because floor where old dishwasher was for years was uneven by 3/8". Never mind dishwasher comes with adjustable feet to easily makeup 3/8". ok, I paid $200 to have floor level. Home Depot installers come a second time. This time they discover the new is broken. Needs to be replaced. It has now been 3 weeks. I ask for a refund. Home Depot refunds 2/3rds my money. Meanwhile, their defective dishwasher is still sitting my garage. I've called Home Depot customer service literally 10 times to pick up defective equipment. i even emailed Home Depot headquarter. i received apology but still no action. Broken dishwasher still sitting in my garage. I purchased same dishwasher from local Lowes. Same price. Purchased it on a Tuesday, Lowes installed it Friday same week. Outstanding service. All i want is for Home Depot to fetch their shabby dishwasher from garage. They can keep the rest of my money, $200. Just get their junk and horrible service away from me. read more

I recently rented a Penske truck/dolly from your store in Ashburn...Faisal an employee their was wonderful at helping us with the transaction but when it came to helping out with attaching the dolly or helping me to get my car onto the dolly, no one there would step up to help me. Infact, the other employees seemed agitated when I asked for help and would look the other way then walk away but one employee of yours Mike Rumph, with all smiles graciously helped me out!!! I'm a single woman and am clueless with these things and was already terrified of having to drive the truck by myself...this guy really stepped up and helped me out!!! I am so delighted with his character, I sent corporate an email to let them know how wonderful this gentleman is!!! read more

I've been going here for years and have never had a bad experience until now. Our main fridge went bad and so I walked in and bought a small in-stock fridge to save my groceries. The fridge did not work and all my groceries had to be thrown away. So after I got my main fridge repaired, I called several different times to ensure that I could return the faulty emergency one, and I was always told yes as it was in-stock and not a custom order. Then I was put on with the manager who was somewhat aggressive and said "it's like a toilet; once it's installed we can't take it back". I walked in to make sure as I had gotten conflicting answers and I would have to get yet another Uhaul to lug it back which was even more money and time. Everyone I met said I was able to return it, but with the doubt that the manager had put into my mind, I wanted to hear it from someone higher up to make sure. They looked all around and "couldn't seem to find" the manager anywhere. Then an employee was sent to me to tell me their "policy" but that he was checking with someone. Then the service desk got a phone call because "they just wanted to know my name". Then the prior employee came back and said I couldn't return it because it was "past 7 days" and "there had been food it in it" (I haven't seen a 7-day return policy for an in-stock major appliance anywhere every other employee said I would be able to bring it back). The fact that they sold me a fridge that didn't work and that I lost all my groceries bothers me, but they don't even know their own return policies well enough to give me an answer. Not only that but I was told things like "why didn't you call the moment it went bad..." and "we would've sent you a new fridge or worked it out"... the only reason I walked in to buy the fridge myself with my own Uhaul was that you didn't do same-day deliveries... TL;DR I bought a fridge out of necessity and it didn't work. All the employees were so kind, albeit no one seemed to know their own return policies. The manager "went missing" when I requested to talk to someone who could give me an answer and used a messenger employee to feed me a policy I have yet to see anywhere. If you want to buy something and not have to worry if it ends up defective, shop elsewhere. read more

This Home Depot is a lot smaller than many other Home Depots I've been too, so if you need something pretty niche, I recommend the Lowe's over by Dulles Town Center. That said, this Home Depot is also a lot less busy than many other hardware stores, so it is nice at times to get in, get what you need, and get out without dealing with a huge crowd. read more

Dear Home Depot, I am a new home owner and I am having the most horrific experience of my life! I bought a W/D from you guys because you are well known but I regret this whole purchase and experience. I purchase my W/D in November and it has been THREE WEEKS and I still don't have the W/D installed. The first time, I NEVER received my 30 minute warning. I rushed home to find out they left. My window for delivery was 11a-3p. I received the first phone call at 10:20am to left me know the installers were at my front door. I was told there were three issues with my laundry room. They left my machines in my garage. When someone called me to let me know about the install, I asked was i good to go after reviewing the checklist, he said yes. I was surprised that i had action items that I needed to handle before they come back to my house in another week. Also, after all that mess happened, I was on the phone with the delivery people and i was ARGUING and YELLING with the reps. I was on hold for 30 for them to quote me a policy on how Home Depot won't going to install the dryer because the vent was oval and not circular. I BEGGED AND YELLED for the REP to put the manager on the phone. He had the nerve to tell me that is not the managers job and that I couldn't talk to the manager nor could i get a name or POC number. I was highly upset and stressed, I had to put my car window down in 40 degree weather. Eventually, some lady comes on the phone and was still quoting me a policy and i needed to get a handyman. The second time, I NEVER received my 30 minute warning. Lucky I was already home, I was told once again they would not install the machines because my adapter for the dryer was plastic and not metal. The first team airdropped me the specific adapter I needed. I was highly upset because I didn't know what to do and the install didn't know either. Additionally, my washer was defective. I was on the phone with Home Depot and Samsung for an hour; Samsung kept hanging up. Also, when I complained to Home Depot she told me she has never heard of a policy and it was false. My builder (Millers and Smith) told me the same thing, they LIED. NOW my next install is this week and i'm waiting for something bad to happen. All i know is I'm telling everyone about my poor and unprofessional experience with you guys and im going on social media as well. I need to get compensated for this because I haven't been able to wash close for THREE WEEKS. I have never heard of this and you guys should be ashamed. I am not sure who in the world yall contracted for delivery but they all need to go to training and the people on the phone needs to be held accountable. I need someone to look into my file because clearly my case is still open. read more

The Home Depot in Ashburn off Shellhorn is the best Home Depot in northern Virginia. While the Sterling location is technically closer to where I live, I choose to travel to this location for several reasons: 1) Newer, cleaner, bigger store 2) Never crowded 3) No annoying speed bumps like the Cascades/Sterling Home Depot 4) Employees are much more friendly and willing to assist you 5) Rental department - a nifty place where you can rent all sorts of tools and machines. This Home Depot is located next to a strip mall that has some restaurants and other shops. Great place that I highly recommend. read more

Disgusting management in appliances. Accidentally ordered the wrong dishwasher (color looked different online) and they won't take back and insisted on installing. Paid 1000 +. This feedback is for the Home Depot delivery and installation not for the staff that work at Home Depot. If I could, there should not be a single star rating. So the story is this, bought a Dishwasher and setup a install date. The delivery guy comes and takes a look at the existing dishwasher, looks at my counter top (it is granite) and say he does not do granite counter top installations. When the manual clearly says the dishwasher can be installed on side for kitchens with Granite counter tops (the one from same mfg is installed on side). It is Friday and leaves abruptly. I then call and visit the home depot for some resolution, after a lot of phone call I get another date (today)... the truck and the guy show up only to ask "I am here for a checkup of your dishwasher", and we don't have any dishwashers. I kid you not, the delivery guys come without the dishwasher. Home Depot and its delivery has been completely impotent and at the mercy of this local sub contractor in trying to get it delivered or installed. Nobody at Home Depot is taking responsibility of any resolution for the delivery and install. Never again am I buying a major appliance from Home Depot as long as they deal with the local delivery contractor. You just lost my business for good..... read more

Finally moved back to VA after a 2yr stint in NJ for my job. I was happy to discover the large Home Depot in Ashburn which rents trucks - unfortunately my elation was short-lived. My husband and I had just spent a very long weekend moving and needed a small van last minute to pick-up some locally purchased furniture, we called the Ashburn HD and specifically asked for a rental van to move furniture - they guy at HD said he had 2 for rent. We drove in the snow, sleet and rain from Leesburg to Ashburn to pick up one of the trucks - this was only 30mins after we called. Much to our dismay upon arrival he said they would only rent open flatbed trucks - none of the closed trucks were available to us for even for an hour. The guy was extremely rude in person and basically told us tough luck. He did not even offer to call around to the Sterling HD or any other HD location to assist us in locating another van last minute, which he should have done especially given the fact that he said he had an appropriate truck to rent only half an hour before. Is this the customer service that Home Depot teaches its employees?? If so - NO THANKS!! We highly recommend Parrots Towing in Leesburg for truck rentals - we have used them a couple of times for one-way rentals during our NJ-to-VA move and will now also call them even last minute when we need a local van or truck rental. Suggestion for Home Depot - train ALL of your employees on customer service - being rude to customers, even if it is in the heavy equipment/truck rental department, is not a winning business approach and it WILL impact your bottom line. read more

There's nothing more frustrating than needing help and not getting any. The person in the appliance area, John, wouldn't even bother to get up out of his chair or even look up to acknowledge me. Maybe because I'm black and a woman, I don't know. The only person that could help was on break, of course. The manager, Larry, was called but was not helpful and his purpose as a manage should be questioned. I would like to thank MD who did at least put forth some effort to find someone. I'm befuddled by the negative reviews for this store. It is my neighborhood HD and I am a regular for day to day needs. Since it is a smaller HD their inventory is sometimes lacking but I always check the web site before I go for specifics. Yes I have had instances where the web said it was in stock and it could not be found. In every instance the floor sales assistance checked inventory on their phone and either located it in their store or at Leesburg/Sterling. I agree this HD was bad a few years ago but the new management team has a solid staff in place now. Excellent knowledge (older guys) and a bit of enthusiasm and muscle (young guys) has resulted in a winning formula. Garden center is pretty good also. Beats the hell out of nursery prices for vegatable gardens in the spring. read more

Very, very disappointed in customer service at this Home Depot. Always a wait to find someone to help you, especially in the flooring department. TO make a long story short, I just experienced an issue with a carpet instillation. My order, after payment, was never processed. Mind you this was an expedited order. After a few days of no one following up, I called to see what the status was. No one could give me a good answer. I called management to complain and all she did was blame the computer system. Went to purchase filters this evening and found exactly the 2 three paks I needed at a great price. Went to pay at the register and only one lane open with 3 people waiting with full carts ahead of me. Went over to self pay as nobody there except for 2 employees chatting. Had trouble with scanner and finally frustrated I gave up as 2 employees just watched and offered no assistance. Finally I handed them my purchase and said "I don't want these" And left store. I met only two helpful employees in this Home depot over a 4 year period. One person is from Grill section and another is lumber/tools section. Had the worst experience with this store employees in Blinds section. They made mistake after mistake and took 2.5 months to do my blinds for a condo. Very rude and very incompetent. They argued with me that they called my for appointment when there was no VM or missed call at the number. The guy who does the installation added extra charge for mason where the next guy said there is not mason. They shipped my blinds to my old home even though i wanted them at the new home/pickup from HD. They send the installation person to my old home where as installation was needed at new home. I will keep going to this HD for very small things as it is closer to my home and there is nothing else in Ashburn, but for my main home needs i will go to Lows in Sterling. read more

I wanted to commend a specific employee for excellent customer service at this store. Bobby, in Lawn and Garden, took my call on Saturday morning regarding a patio chair that we had bought online that would not fit together. I have to admit I probably wasn't the most pleasant person to speak with and started to get pretty frustrated. He told me to bring the chair in and we would figure it out. I was expecting disaster. Within 10 minutes, we were in and out with a chair that fit together. He deserves credit for his handling of the situation and knowing how to keep his customers happy and coming back. Home Depots are all about timing. If you get there when they aren't busy and the good folks are on staff...its a DIY'ers dream. I lucked out today picking up some stuff for my friend. The guy in electrical is definitely and electrician and that helped tremendously. Surprisingly the returns line was quick and the cashier was very pleasant.
