Called to see if they had a product available. The automated voice was unable to help me. I ask for a person and they transferred me. the first person who answered transferred me to the hardware department. A male answered the phone, but then hung up on me. I called back a second time and a female was laughing in the background stated "oh fuck" and then hung up on me. The third time I called someone answered and immediately hung up. I said nothing derogatory to deserve that type of treatment. I was later able to contact Linda the manager, and she said she would handle it. read more

I came to this store to talk to someone about a quote for flooring installation. After paying them to come to my home for a quote I was shocked that the quote was almost double the estimate I got in the store, despite giving them accurate measurements. When I told them this they immediately offered to knock a few hundred bucks off the quote. I ended up going with another company and despite telling the store multiple times I am not interested, they have called me almost every day for the last month trying to sell me the same thing. The process seems very scammy and they have permanently lost my business after the harassing calls. Stick to supporting local businesses instead! read more

My electrician pulled two different ballasts out of two different fluorescent fixtures that were bad. I brought them with me to Home Depot so they could help me find suitable replacements. I went directly to the service desk and asked for help in electrical. It took 10 minutes to get someone to come over. At 8 minutes I was contemplating leaving. At 10 minutes I met "Dave." He walked me over to the ballasts and found the correct modern equivalents after he asked a couple of questions like are the bulbs 8ft or 12ft and does the fixture have 1 lamp or 2. I got 3 of one sku and 4 of another sku. When I went to self checkout I noticed on the smaller one I got 3 of one of the ballasts was not like the other two so the cashier called Dave back over and he corrected the problem. read more

They get one star because the guy who delivered the lumber I ordered was prompt, professional and helpful...Everything else about my purchase there was awful. The quality of wood home depot provided was awful, warped, full of knots and many of the larger boards were split for several feet, and liquid poured out of every board as I drove nails into it. I had a water heater delivered from the same purchase and the fittings they sent with it were completely the wrong size, and some even the wrong thread. The woman who was running the pro desk left me waiting for an hour as she went to see if they had what I needed in stock, I had already walked the store and knew they had what I wanted because "I laid hands on it", but she insisted she was required to be sure they had what I needed to fulfill the order. For the lumber order she brought back a bucket of house little wrap nails with plastic washers even though I was ordering 2x12x16ft treated lumber to replace the band boards on my garage. I even wrote down 3 1/2 inch sinkers on the list... but she runs the pro department? There isn't a 50 gallon water heater sold in North America that uses 1/2 inch die electric unions but that's what they sent me. And I guess Home Depot does not know the difference between FIP and MIP Worse, after I gave her the list of what I needed, and had already walked through the store and already determined they had what I wanted, she left me sitting there for over an hour because she couldn't find the things on my list. Then she let slip that she also got busy waiting on other customers while I sat there wasting over an hour of my life only to have the order completely messed up. I think the Home Depot should maybe go into the business of selling bath towels and table doily's, they might be able to get that stuff right, because they sure don't know anything about building and construction supplies. read more

Every time I call up there to talk to the hiring manager everyone at the service desk is crabby like they don't want to receive a phone call and always have an attitude on the phone especially Jennifer she acts like she doesn't even want to be there and when they transfer me back to the hiring manager it rings a few times and automatically hangs up all the time if she had a voicemail it wouldn't hang up on me read more

The paint department is the worst! Went there with the can and the sticker to get more paint and they argue and tell you they don't tint that paint. Standing there with the used paint can and sticker that I bought from this store. It was the same brand, same size, and same color. Ridiculous experience. Go to the Glen Carbon store and the paint lady says we heard from Collinsville store and we can't help you. Manager gets called over, head paint guy gets called down and he doesn't understand the problem. They tint that paint all the time he says. Took less than five minutes to get my paint after that. I made an order for Curbside pickup at the Collinsville store. When I got home, an outdoor planter I'd ordered was clearly wrong. I ordered a 16 in terra cotta colored planter - I'd received a green 11 inch planter. Called the store and they said, no problem, bring it back, but I'd have to come in the store. The next day I entered the store wearing a mask and found myself face to face (no plexiglass barrier, no social distancing) across a counter from the returns associate. She scanned the planter and said, this is right. When I pointed out the planter was 1) not 16 inches tall, and b) green not terra cotta, she said "computer says it's what you ordered". Seriously? She finally returned it and told me to go find what I wanted. In the garden dept, I asked another associate, also without a mask and who didn't social distance, for assistance. He found me the same green 11 inch planter and said, the tag says this is what you want. Seriously? I finally just bought a different, more expensive planter, but it was 16 inches and the right color. On the way back to the front to check out, a customer pointed at me and said to his companion, "LIBERTARD". Needless to say, they were not wearing masks. In fact, I saw NO employees and only one other customer wearing a mask in the store. Does Home Depot not care about their employees or their customers? Please get your employees some masks, some training, and ask them to think so they can figure out the difference between 11 and 16 inches and terra cotta and dark green colors. Maybe they just don't care, or maybe Home Depot employees in Collinsville just don't like "Libertards". Needless to say, I will be using Lowe's from now on. The only time I would use Home Depot is if I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere else AND it could be drop shipped to my home. Shame on you HOME DEPOT. read more

I called this location to ask for an item, I had all the information. I got passed to a department, not sure which one, no one answered. Then someone picked up the phone and said nothing. Then I got the person who answered the phone and I decided I would just ask for the store manager. He was put on the phone and told me 3 x in our call that he had 3 people out sick for the day and 3 x he was working with another customer in flooring and that they were standing in front on him. I felt he was trying to get rid of my call and making excuses for lack of staffing, he is the STORE MANAGER, then manage... so I called another place that had what I needed and took all six of the items from some place else... bad customer service.. no wonder this location only had a 2 star rating anyway... go elsewhere... the other location was more than willing to go physically see if the item was in stock and helped me... read more
